The United States Air Force has a rich history of giving back to the community. From donating equipment and supplies to participating in local events, the USAF has been an important part of the Wanaque area for many years. On July 20, 1976, members of the USAF stationed at Whitaker AFB in Wanaque organized a promotional air show in honor of their home town’s patron saint, St. Patrick. The event was attended by representatives from various military branches and local businesses. More than 1,000 people turned out to see General Electric planes fly past on trainer flights and model airplanes from all over New Jersey. A sizeable amount of cash was raised for various charities during this inaugural airshow. In 1982, Whitaker AFB became the home of the Combat Crew Training Squadron (CCTS), which offered pilots training opportunities for enlisted members of the USMC and Naval Aviation fleets afloat or ashore. The squadron also served as a support unit for exercises with other NATO member nations. In 1992-1993, CCTS operated two Boeing 727-200 aircraft as flying classrooms for newly minted fighter pilots Academy trainees at Morristown Municipal Airport adjacent to Whitaker AFB. Pilots flew both types during these periods while undergoing combat training before assignment to their units overseas or embarked on Deployments aboard Navy ships underway in world operations like Desert Storm or Global War II participants aerial refueling task forces off shore locations worldwide providing strategic airlift essential battlefield support including insertion/deposition; fire support; bomber escort mission; strike & antisubmarine warfare patrols; nuclear weapons warning/countermeasures missions In January 2006 – just prior to Operation Iraqi Freedom – Headquarters USAF moved its main headquarters from Washington D.C.– becoming permanently headquartered at Whitaker AFB after more than 50 years located there when it opened its doors as an Air National Guard base on Oct 24th 1951! This move represented major changes within Wing organization since then having increased use of squadrons dispersed across numerous installations around country performing multiple roles simultaneously! One result was that many older active duty wings were placed into inactive status initially but reactivated subsequent to Reactivation Processes!! Wanaque is a town in Hudson County, New Jersey, United States. The population was 8,832 at the 2010 census. Wanaque was founded in 1784 by Germans who resettled along the Delaware River after the French and Indian War. It became a borough on December 12, 1907. On October 25, 1960, it became a town with its own government. The borough was abolished on January 1, 1961 and became part of the new municipality of Westwood.

Withdrawn from active duty in 1958 due to retirement age restrictions and reorganized several times since then (euphemistically called Aerospace Civilian Personnel Administration or ACPA), USAF Gift History can be traced back only through records kept by Headquarters Aeronautics Branch (HAB) at Wright-Patterson AFB between 1945 - 1970 inclusive! The Villebons were the original proprietors of Wanaque Township.
