They used to drink a blend of roasted Arabica beans from their farm near Princeton and Sumatra beans from the town of Livingston. In the early 1960s, Gordon Biersch started brewing Coffee Artisan brand coffee in Wallington. The company grew rapidly and by the end of the decade had two stores across the state of New Jersey, one in Newark and one in Camden. In 1984, Gordon Biersch sold his company to Starbucks Corporation for $620 million. The sale made Starbucks one of the world’s largest coffee brewers with over 68,000 employees around the globe. Starbucks closed its Wallington store in 2006 but continued to produce coffee there until it reopened as a small café called Starbuck’s at 7th & Market Streets later that year. Wallington is a small town in Mercer County, New Jersey, United States. The population was 5,839 at the 2010 census. Wallington is located on the Delaware River between Trenton and Camden. Wallington was created as a township in 1812 from portions of Gloucester Township. The first settler in what became Wallington was John Sellers who arrived in 1798 from Huntingdon Parish, England. He built the first house on the current site of Wallinton Township on the banks of the Delaware River. Sellers left five children and two daughters behind to start a new life in this fertile location and they named their settlement after John Sellers's father-in-law, William Wallace who had died some years earlier while helping toFounder George Washington's army during the American Revolution. As development increased along riverfronts near Philadelphia, traders began to build warehouses at various points along the Delaware River for storage of goods coming downriver with trade routes opening up. By 1800, Wallington had become an important trading post because it offered easy access to both Philadelphia and Atlantic City which were growing rapidly at that time. In 1814, when James Knoppers moved his family from Gloucester Township to be nearer his brother-in-law's tannery on Main Street (now called Ewing Avenue), he founded what would become one of Wallington's most prolific businesses - Knoppers' Tannery & Leather Works which quickly became one of Mercer County's leading tanneries and still operates today as a major employer with more than 350 employees across six stores located throughout Mercer County including Wallington Borough Hall). The early 20th century saw rapid growth for Wallington as well; school systems were established; brickyards were erected; streets were widened; water supplies improved; and mills began production such as those now operated by JKL Paper Products (manufacturing paper products such as resumes) and Cumberland Mills (producing flour, oilseed cake mix, cheese). During World War II many local men volunteered their services in the military or served in concentration camps where they received compensation through Social Security benefits dating back to 1935 – all while working within their homes without interruption or fear of retribution from Nazi Germany or other Axis powers during World War II. Wallington was founded in 1790 by Loyalists who had fled to America during the American Revolution. The town was originally named for Sir James Wallington, 1st Baronet of Haddackshire, a British nobleman who had served as a colonel in the English forces that fought against the French and Indian War. The first settler in Wallington was George White, a fur trader from Scotland who arrived in 1790. In 1801, John Crouch settled in Wallington and built the first house there. In 1804, John Trumbull bought land adjacent to present-day Wallington from White. He built a large home there called "Trumbull's Tower." In 1814, Major General Anthony Wayne moved his headquarters from Trenton to WallINGTON after capturing Fort Niagara on the Canadian side of the river. There he installed his command staff and stores at Trumbull's Tower where they remain to this day. After American independence was declared on July 4, 1776, many Loyalists left America for Britain. Among these refugees were some families of prominent Wallintonians including Nicholas Pope (1698-1768), father of Bishop John Nicholas Pope (1737-1810). Reverend Richard Harding (1753-1828) also emigrated to Great Britain after the war and became one of its most influential preachers. A number of prosperous settlers followed Harding into British Columbia but only two houses still stand in what is nowwallington; one dating back to 1840 and is known as Harding House No 2; while another building erected about 1865 may be considered part ofwallington's earliest history because it housed early post office operations
