The history of the navy deployed gift program in Ventnor City dates back to World War II. The city was placed under military jurisdiction during the war, and as a result, many businesses and individuals donated items – including cookware, bicycles, and even pianos – to help support the military. After the war, Ventnor City continued to receive donations from civilians and businesses alike, and the navy continued its deployment gift program. Ventnor City is a small town in Mercer County, New Jersey, United States. The population was 5,883 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Newark–Jersey City Metropolitan Statistical Area. The Ventnor area was first settled by Dutch colonists in 1664. The name "Ventnor" likely comes from two places: one meaning "a meadow" and the other meaning "the mouth of the river Vanna." In 1714, John Ventnor built a gristmill on the river near present-day Third Street and First Avenue. A post office called Ventnor was established in 1824, and remained in operation until 1959. The community came to be known as a center for Italian culture after residents of Newark developed businesses there around 1910. In 1927, Jock Mahoney opened his pet shop on Third Street in Ventnor City Center; it remains a popular tourist spot today. Mahoney also became its first Mayor-elect. In 1966, construction began on what is now University Boulevard in Ventnor City Center; it would later become home to Audubon Park (now North Park). That same year, ventornians voted to merger with neighboring Rahway Township into Oneonta Township during an election held pursuant to section 3 of the New Jersey Constitution which granted township status to areas that share an equal number of citizens with their respective municipalities within 60 days following such vote. The city's incorporation date is generally accepted as November 2nd of that year under special act No., 1967 (Pt.), c2-3 (ELECTION OF CITY DIRECTORS) by virtue of which all municipal authority vested with local board including but not limited to zoning and building regulations propositions were transferred thenceforward exclusively with respect thereto to said city having full power and authority therein respectively without any reservation or delegation thereof whatsoever either express or implied excepting only those powers hereinabove expressly given above by law To wit: Building permits shall hereafter be issued subject only to such qualifications as may be prescribed by ordinance passed by said local board not less frequently than once per month And no new buildings shall be constructed without prior application for and agreement from said local board through rules made prior thereto

Today, Ventnor City is an important cultural and industrial center in Monmouth County and home to many popular shopping districts including North Beach and South Beach. The city also enjoys a strong local political presence with several elected officials representing it on various levels.

After the American Revolution, ventnor city became an important commercial center for the region. In 1826, the town’s first school opened its doors. At that time, Ventnor City consisted of just a few homes and a small store. In 1870, the ventnor city post office closed its doors due to low mail volume. However, in 1901, the post office reopened after new equipment arrived from Ohio. By 1907,ventnor city had increased to over 100 residents and boasted a population bank with $5,000 in assets. In 1916-1917 (the depression era),ventnor city experienced significant growth as it became home to an industrial plant operated by Pressed Steel Company which manufactured artillery shells and other munitions products for World War I efforts. This plant produced many jobs for local citizens and helped boost overall economy during this difficult time period
