The Trenton Coffee Company was founded in 1904 by Mr. and Mrs. John W. Derrick as a small-scale coffee house on the corner of Mercer and Water Streets in Trenton, New Jersey. The company soon became well known for their high quality coffee products, and from 1916 to 1945 it was one of the largest and most successful coffee companies in the country. In 1944, the company merged with two other regional businesses, the Newark Coffee Company and the Plainfield Coffee Company, forming what is today known as Delaware Coffee Co., Inc.
Trenton, New Jersey is a town in Mercer County, New Jersey, United States. The population was 20,845 at the 2010 census. Trenton is the county seat of Mercer County and home to the Trenton School District. Trenton is named after Englishman John Trent (1615–1679), who founded what became Mercer County in 1676. The first white people to live in what is now Trenton were Dutch settlers from the colony of New Netherland who arrived in 1675. They built a small cabin on the banks of the Passaic River and called it "Trenton." The first permanent white settler was Nicholas Slover (1764-1839), who bought land east of present-day Trenton from Samuel Palmer in 1787. He built a house on what is now Market Street and named it "Slover's Ferry." In 1814, James Fenton purchased 2,000 acres (800 hectares) north of present-day Trenton from Nicholas Slover for $40 per acre. This area became known as Fenton Township. In 1835, George Washington Carver came to America and began his agricultural career by purchasing 1,200 acres (500 hectares) northeast of where he lived today for $2 an acre. Carver renamed his tract "Carver's Farms" and developed it into one of the largest cotton plantations in America during the antebellum period. By 1840, Carver had acquired 3 million pounds (1 metric ton) of cotton robes which he sold through bales or bulk sales to large buyers throughout North America. His plantation prospered until 1849 when bankrupted due to overproduction caused by changing market conditions following American Civil War). After that point, Carver returned to farming but spent little time on his plantation because he found new markets for his products all over America during Reconstruction years 1865-1877). From about 1850 through 1870 there was significant population growth (+30%) primarily due to blacks migrating from Africa/the African slave trade seeking opportunity and freedom from slavery while also seeking gradual emancipation from white masters across southern states via legislation such as Emancipation Proclamation issued February 14th 1863 - January 13th 1865; these migrants were supported by waves of northern European refugees fleeing religious persecution & war at home particularly with Great Lakes region villages like Dunkirk & Sault Ste Marie facing similar risks howevermobility itself did not lead inevitably towards integration leading some northerners like Frederick Douglass seeing opportunities for progress even if color did play a role: “When I reflect upon this fact I am naturally disposed to hope that within fifty years all men will be able to get along without bigotry or discrimination on account of their color” Up until this time many Americans viewed colored people living among them as slaves or second class citizens deserving only incremental rights and benefits based upon their skin color rather than equal footing under general law like other freemen & equals regardless of social status

Trenton is a town in Mercer County, New Jersey, United States. The population was 23,584 at the 2010 census. Trenton is the second largest city in Mercer County after Asbury Park. The Trenton-Ewing School District serves most of Trenton and parts of Ewing Township. Trenton is located just south of the Delaware River on the southern edge of New Jersey's "pumpkin patch." The first European settlement in what is now Trenton was by Europeans who came ashore from ships on November 10, 1683, during what is known as the Mayflower Compact Expedition. They named their new town for John Thorpe (1584-1625), a signer of the original Declaration of Independence and one of the Founding Fathers. In 1836, when Princeton University became Rutgers University and opened its doors to students from all over America, it chose to move campus from Newark to Trenton because it was felt that this would increase opportunities for students from Mercer County. By 1881, with construction continuing on what would become Princeton University's current building at State Street and Lewis Avenue, much of downtown had been built including One College Place which has since become home to many large corporations such as Googleplex and Hewlett Packard Enterprise. During World War II more than 120 local companies produced military goods for both sides in excess of 1 million pieces each. More than half a million men were locally employed in manufacturing during World War II; some 60% or more jobs were held by women workers who made up only about 15% of total production workforce at that time In 1951 Rutgers moved back to Newark after several years living out-of-town near Princeton; but Toms River became home again to Rutgers' undergraduate wing following a referendum in 1949 sponsored by then Toms River Mayor James Fenton which led to approval by voters within two months after being advertised throughout the community . At various points through history there have been efforts - including bills introduced into both houses -to annex or split Trenton into multiple municipalities due primarily to economic interests: most notably when business leaders saw an opportunity for increased profits related their Carrier Air Force Base relocation plans which included relocating 300 employees from Rahway Township northeast towards Piscataway while also developing land eastward along Route 9W near present day North Brunswick Village – but no annexation has ever occurred In recent years several attempts have been made by members of congress and township officials alike to gain recognition as either an independent city or borough within Mercer county without success despite vocal support by Mayor Fenton In December 2009 President Barack Obama listed Trenton among those communities mentioned when he announced his stimulus program proposals targeting communities with high unemployment rates like Camden and Atlantic City
On July 1, 1777, Trenton was founded as a town in Mercer County by the merger of two other towns, Nottingham and Elizabeth. The original population of Trenton was 511 people. The first white settler in Trenton was Colonel John Forbes, who arrived in 1776. In 1837, the Trenton and Rockland Railroad was built to connect Trenton with nearby Camden and Philadelphia. By 1845, the railroad had reached New York City. On November 26, 1849, the state of New Jersey allowed for the creation of municipalities within its borders without having to go through a municipal election. This change led to the incorporation of Trenton into Passaic County on December 12th that same year. In 1903, electric streetlights were installed in Trenton; this began an era of public lighting that lasted until 1977. In 1915, local farmers organized a Grain Export Market at Park Place where they sold flour and other agricultural products from their barns and fields to buyers across Pennsylvania and New York City. The market continued until 1978 when it was replaced by the current Port Authority bus terminal complex on Lincoln Avenue near State Street
