Tinton Falls, New Jersey is a village in Hunterdon County, New Jersey, United States. The population was 431 at the 2010 census. The Village of Tinton Falls is located on the border of Hunterdon County and Morris County. The first Europeans to visit Tinton Falls were Dutch settlers in 1609 who named it "Nieuw Amsterdam". In 1777, Sir George Washington visited the village and called it "The most picturesque place in America" because of its beauty but also because of the abundance of coal seams nearby. In 1811, General James K. Polk spent time at Tinton Falls and said that he thought it would be a nice place for a rifle range if Congress approved legislation giving him this permission. However, no such permission was given and Tinton Fall's only service as an American outpost during the Revolutionary War was garrisoning Fort Mercer which guarded the Delaware River between Newark and Philadelphia. In 1834, George Caton Magruder founded what became known as Catonville Plantation near present-day Uniondale while living in Burlington Township; his farm still stands today within the boundaries of Catonville Borough. He purchased land east of present-day Route 9 north of Lake Champlain for £5 per acre (USD$ ). Magruder built his mansion there in 1840 which remains standing to this day - now used as offices by various businesses withinCatonville borough including Verizon Communications . Along with Burlington Township to the south and Uniondale to the north, much development took place along Rte 9 from about 1835 until around 1900 when all but one block section became part of neighboring Catonville Borough due to their proximity to railroad tracks running through their communities. One notable exception was what is now Spring Vale Road which served primarily as a rural road linking these other two villages until 1950 when Interstate 95 reached its current route through town ending at US 202 just outside town limits.. After I-95 came along and bypassed town center reducing travel times between Route 9/CatonVILLEBorough and points east residents began moving away from central business district towards new developments around I-95 including large housing projects like Northvale Mall etc.; however some original village businesses remain including Laundromat on Main Street where folks would come into town for laundry services before or after work; Grillin' Place on Ridge Road across from Park Avenue School; bakery on Ferry Road next to Market Square Shopping Center; movie theater on Elm Street opposite Grendel's Restaurant; ice cream parlor downriver from First Presbyterian Church starting operations in 1951 .. As mentioned earlier many originalvillagers descendants still live here today within CatonvilleBorough among them Mayor Glenn Ivory who also serves as Clerk Of District Court for Essex County NJ .. While many people have left over time for various reasons (eastern Seaway opened up), others have stayed behind such as Mayor Ivory’s father Glen Ivory Sr., who has run unsuccessfully for office since 1963 multiple times.. Todayvirtually everything done within downtown Tinton falls takes place through either city government functions or by contract with associated companies/agencies which are headquartered inside or adjacent to city limits.. This commercial vitality has resulted both in increased job opportunities available throughout central NJ due to global competition emanating from online retailers etc.; educational opportunities available through Rutgers University’s medical school、the Newark Performing Arts Center (PATH)、Newark Community College(NCC)etc.,and more ; yet despite being surrounded by industrial parkringing backroads that can be quite noisy during peak hours,, life goes largely unnoticed dwarfed by all those shiny objects dotting central NJ
