One of the most important aspects of this growth was the establishment of an early telephone system in1872 which allowed farmers and businesses in nearby towns to connect with each other without having to go through Trenton. As phone service became more widespread, so did demand for high-quality coffee beans from Tinton Falls merchants. By 1920, Tinton Falls had become an important center for international trade and commerce within New York State. This led to increased traffic on Route 9 which passed through the town boundaries. Coffee became an essential part of this trade as different markets required different types and degrees of roastings before they would accept it as a product from Tinton Falls merchants. Tinton Falls, New Jersey is a small town located in Hunterdon County, New Jersey. The population of Tinton Falls was 1,521 at the 2000 census. The name comes from the Potomac River which flows through the town. The first settlers to Tinton Falls were Methodist missionaries who arrived in 1785. In 1810, George Washington visited the town and is said to have remarked on its "pleasant little village" and its "profusely cultivated fields". A millrace was built near present-day Main Street in 1812 by Elijah Morse and it still operates today as a commercial enterprise. In 1822, an act of Congress authorized the construction of a canal connecting Lake Champlain with Atlantic Harbor in Delaware, but no such canal was built due to financial difficulties. In 1825, General Anthony Wayne founded what is now Hunterdon County and named it for his father, James Wayne (1751–1824). The new county included many tracts of land that had previously been part of Monmouthshire or Bucks County. However, there was no corresponding change to the spelling of Tinton Falls until 1860 when James Hutton changed it to that pronunciation which he felt more appropriate for the region's Farming community (Hutton pronounced THEN-dun). It wasn't until 1924 that school Superintendent John Waddell shortened it back to 'TINTON-dalls'. During World War II over 2 million men were drafted into service in New Jersey and Pennsylvania; one third of all American troops engaged during World War II were from Tinton Falls Township. Many local businesses survive including JW Milling Company which produces flour for general use and feed store operated by Mrs Crouse since 1962; Pritchard Chocolate Factory closed down in 2002 after 51 years production followed by Bedloe's Ice Creamery which opened its doors in 1951; Google Earth shows evidence that Ziegler's Hardware closedtered operations at 222 South Main Street effective May 30th 2006 however this may be erroneous as there has been no sign up for recent updates on their website; also notable are two buildings on Spring Garden Road erected as military barracks during World War II but never used: One was known as Fort Drum while the other became known as Camp Hill Army Ammunition Plant before finally becoming home to North Bridge Technical School (now North Bridge High School) after being used by Presbyterian Rockaway Township public schools prior to that date; both buildings remain standing although they are not currently used. According to 2010 US Census data*, there were 1,521 people living within Tinton Falls Borough limits.* Of these residents*, 9% identify themselves as Latino* while 96% identify themselves as white or non-Hispanic* according to self-identification data collected from 2011 American Community Survey results†.* Of note*: Residents age 25+ comprise 84%* of all those ages 25+, percentage highest among any borough’s category** * These numbers are subjectto revision due various changes & updates made through subsequent censuses

Tinton Falls, New Jersey is a small town located in Union County, New Jersey. The population was 4,822 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Union County and the home of Tinton Falls High School. The name "Tinton Falls" comes from two places: one is a waterfall on the River Tannenbaum near where the community now stands, and the other is an Old Order or Loyalist settlement built near what is now Market Street in 1807 by General John Burgoyne as part of his effort to take over British-held territory in America during the American Revolution. The first settler in Tinton Falls was George Prentice who arrived there in 1795. Initially, he built a cabin on what is now Route 22 north of Center Avenue. In 1809, Prentice purchased land east of Center Avenue from Nicholas de Vos for $200 and began building what would become known as Wappingers Mills. By 1816, Prentice had erected several buildings including a gristmill which he named "Tanton Mill". That same year, he also founded a Lutheran church at Tanton Mill which still exists today. In 1830, James Laughlin arrived in Tinton Falls and started trading goods with German farmers living around Brunswick Township before eventually purchasing land west of Center Avenue from Prentice for $1 million which became known as Laughlin's Mills after him. Over time, other entrepreneurs soon followed suit and various businesses were born including Laughlin's grocery store (now Macy's), flour mill (now KFC), carriage factory (later part of Chevrolet), lumberyard (later part of Sears & Roebuck) and more. During World War II when New Jersey was invaded by Nazi Germany, many residents chose to stay behind to help fight against their Axis counterparts while others fled to Pennsylvania or Massachusetts due to rationing restrictions placed upon them by then-President Franklin D Roosevelt following World War II. Many residents returned once war ended but some remain propertyless since they forfeited their homes during wartime hysteria created by government propaganda that claimed European immigrants were taking away jobs opportunities for local citizens. This history begins with George Prentice who settled in Tinton Falls in 1795; continued development subsequent led to erection of mills such as Wappingers Mills east side Centre avenue 1800&John Burgoyne $1M ... James Laughlin purchases land 3W east side Centre Ave from George Parkerson 1800 sold for 2 milion Zips later renamed Laughlin’s Mills .... Tinton Falls was founded in 1755 as a trading post on the Susquehanna River by George Washington and his associates. The original name of the settlement was "Dalborn Heights." The town changed its name to Tinton Falls in 1872 after the former township of Union, New Jersey, which lie to the east. In 1901, Tinton Falls became an incorporated village. In 1954, it merged with neighboring Sayreville to form one municipality and remain that way until 2007 when it regained its separate identity as an incorporated village again.
