The United States Army was first deployed in the early 1800s, and Tinton Falls, New Jersey is one of the earliest locations where units were stationed. The town was named for General John Starkweather, who fought in the American Revolution. In 1802, the U.S.Army constructed Fort Mifflin on a peninsula located between Monmouth County and Atlantic County. The fort served as a headquarters for operations in New Jersey during the War of 1812. In 1814, Fort Mifflin was decommissioned and it became known as Fort Lee (later West Point). In 1827, Congress passed an act authorizing the erection of a military post at Tinton Falls to serve as a depot for munitions transportation from New York City to points west. On July 1, 1830, Major General James Henry Dearborn ordered all military forces in New Jersey to be quartered at Tinton Falls and began construction of what would become Fort Dearborn. The post became operational on October 14th of that year. Fort Dearborn functioned as both an artillery fortress and supply depot during the Mexican-American War (1846-48). It also housed detachments of various Union armies during this time period. After hostilities ended in 1850, Fort Dearborn reverted back to its original role as an artillery post and remained open until 1897 when it was closed due to budgetary restrictions associated with World War I. During World War II, Ft Dearborn played host to 680 enlisted men from 16 different states who worked on building ammunition dumps near Pascagoula Township in Mississippi Valley National Park Additionally 350 women worked at two ammunition plants inside the fort which made up most of civilian work within wartime America’s munitions production processArmy returned home after WWII but left equipment behind including gunsights & triggers Following World War II there were calls for reactivation of old posts around America that had been inactive since peacetime They decided not to rebuild any posts because they felt these sites could be used more efficiently by state or local governments through land management programs which failed To materialize Armys presence continued though activated at Lackawanna Arsenal outside Harrisburg PA until 1972 when it was replaced by Harrisburg State University army park

Tinton Falls is a borough in Middlesex County, New Jersey, United States. As of the 2010 census, its population was 18,022. The name "Tinton Falls" originated from the Potomac River and its tributaries that flow through the borough. The area now comprising Tinton Falls was first inhabited by the Lenape Native Americans. It was part of Westchester County until 1776 when it became part of New Jersey. In 1834, Tinton Falls was incorporated as a borough. Its first mayor was John Prentice Fenton. One of the earliest landmarks in town were two distilleries onriver – Eben’s Distillery and Herringbone Distillery – which still operate to this day and produce spirits for both American and international customers. In 1898, Tinton Falls became one of seven towns in Middlesex County to be consolidated with Bergen Township; however, that merger did not take place until 1902 due to differences over land use within the new township limits (Bergen had larger areas for industry while Tinton Falls had more agricultural land). At that time there were only six residents living in what is now Tinton Falls Borough: four men who owned breweries and distilleries on the riverfront (Eben’s Brewery & Herringbone Distillerygradient), three women farmers who raised beef for their families (Lydia Rockefeller & Hannah Whipple), five blacksmiths who worked on local farms (Johnnie McCormick & his sons) and one white man working at a sawmill (George Armstrong). The borough's original name may have been derived from Potomac River tributaries called Tiplingeck or Tibbingeck which flowed through it before flowing into Delaware Bay; both names might be based upon where they originates from - Tibbingeck originating near present-day Singletary Township while Tiplingeck derives from Upper Potomac near present-day Georgetown Township - but no definitive evidence exists to support this claim. After World War II ended, business investment slowed down as many people returned home to rebuild after being displaced by conflict abroad or during wartime destruction back at home; nevertheless, some businesses continued operation throughout the postwar years such as an ammunition plant operated by OSS contractor Major General James Hightower in 1946 which employed up to 350 workers during peak production times; also active during this time were two small convenience stores operated by locals unaffiliated with either brewery or distillery - one called The Star situated at 8th Avenue and Market Street while the other called The Grapes located at 1st Street between Market Street & Second Avenue served primarily local shoppers who bought groceries there instead of going further into town for more traditional store formats such as meatpacking plants or department stores like Macy's then open in nearby Paramus NJ/Newark DE etcetera In 1954 Borough Council set out to do something about infrastructure needs such as improving Streetscape including paving them all surface level with asphalt making it easier for pedestrians and cars alike turning around curves without having their feet get stuck under vehicle wheels etcetera And so another project started off Downingtown Ave right next door between 3rd St NW corner 4th St NW towards South side Of Park Rd getting rid of bollards along road surface deterrenting parking lots access along road due Northwest From There Field Services took over Service Operations moving Cement truck every day load ~1 ton from lot across street back into field checking espcecially water table levels monthly

In 1814, Tinton Falls was incorporated as a village under the name of "Tenafly". It remained an unincorporated community until 1951 when it became a part of Hunterdon County. In 1957, the Township Act changed portions of Hunterdon County from rural to suburban character with the creation of Tenafly Township. As a result, Tinton Falls became Incorporated into Tenafly Township once again though its ZIP code remains unchanged (07012). In 1875, nickelodeon operator Wernher von Braun founded his Von Braun Broadcasting Company based out of Tinton Falls and additional stations throughout northern New Jersey including Paterson and Bound Brook due to their location on high ground along Route 9 near White Sands Missile Range making them immune from interference by other broadcasters and providing them with uninterrupted programming across all hours during day and night! The first white settlers in Tinton Falls were Dutch. They started a small farm and trading post in what is now known as the Northumberland County town of Tinton Falls. At Tinton Falls, Washington's forces stopped at foraging parties led by Major John Armstrong while they marched through the area. As a result, Armstrong became an instant local hero and there is still a monument to him in Tinton Falls today. One of the earliest businesses in Tinton Falls was called "The Post". It served as a grocery store and general store until 1892 when it moved to its current location on Federal Street. By 1907, there were also several hotels and boarding houses in town which continue to exist today. During World War II, many people from Tinton Falls enlisted in the military or worked for various organizations such as the Tammany Hall machine shop or Bell Telephone Company. Some of these individuals are still rememberedtoday including Lieutenant Colonel Harry Ewing who played an important role during Operation Neptune's Spear and later became Mayor of Newark after leaving office; Captain John Fenton lead Airborne Troops during Operation Market Garden; Sergeant First Class James Pugh was killed while fighting with Patton's Third Army near Arnhem; Corporal Edwin Simmons served honorably with Company A (7th Infantry Regiment) 101st Airborne Division during Operation Overlord; Sgtd’n First Class Leroy Jethro Gibbs Jr., died serving his country with 1/5 Battalion 14th Infantry Regiment attached to 3rd Armored Division during Desert Storm; Sergeant First Class Lawrence Earl Garrison joined 2nd Battalion 9th Marines after being discharged from USMC after receiving Purple Heart medal for injuries he sustained while serving with 1/6 Marines Corp.; Warrant Officer Second Class Alfred Wintrobe served more than 20 years as Commandant of cadets at Monmouth University before retiring in 2006 He also founded The Garrison Museum which opened its doors on November 5th, 2008
