The United States Air Force has a rich history in Tinton Falls, New Jersey. The community is home to the 5th Wing of the Air Force Reserve Command, which is responsible for providing air support for the Army and Navy in New Jersey and throughout New York State. The wing was formed from the merger of two other commands: the 9th Fighter Wing and 3d Bombardment Wing. The wing's predecessor, the 5th Fighter Group, was activated on 1 October 1940 at Tinton Falls Municipal Airport as part of Ninth Air Force. It served with Republic F-4C fighters in support of Operation Torch, which culminated with Allied landings on Morocco on 8 November 1942. The group was disbanded on 1 May 1943 when it was redesignated as III Fighter Group (Heavy). On 15 July 1945 III Fighter Group (Heavy) re-equipped with P-51D Super Sabres and became an element of First Tactical Air Command under First Lt Dudley Eddie Stroud until its disbanding on 30 September 1945. On 26 October 1946 activation of IX Bomber Command led to reactivation of III Bomber Group (Heavy) at Trenton Municipal Airport as an element thereof under Lt Col Hoyt Vandenberg Jr.. It operated Boeing B-29s in support of Operation Crossroads until being redesignated VII Bomber Command effective 1 January 1947. Its mission changed from strategic bombardment to strategic reaction bombing; during this time it also flew combat missions against ground targets in Korea. Inactivated again on 31 March 1951 when its assets were reassigned to I Bomber Command under Brigadier General JOHNSTON MCGUIRE II. Inactivation followed that same month when all bomber commands were Reorganized and Consolidated into FMF organizational structure effective 15 April 1952 by directive contained herein “Organizational changes affecting USAF bomber forces” VII Bomber Command remained inactive untilactivated again effective 15 April 1952 when all bomber commands were Reorganized and Consolidated into FMF organizational structure effective 15 April 1952 by directive contained herein “Organizational changes affecting USAF bomber forces” III Bomber Group ( Heavy) reactivated at Trenton Municipal Airport effective 26 October 1946 under Lt Col Hoyt Vandenberg Jr..Its mission changed from strategic bombardment to strategic reaction bombing; during this time it also flew combat missions against ground targets in Korea Inactivated again on 31 March 1951 when its assets were reassigned to I BomberCommand under Brigadier General JOHNSTON MCGUIRE II . The United States Air Force gifted the town of Tinton Falls, New Jersey with an F-16 Fighting Falcon fighter jet on May 25, 1990. The plane was donated by the USAF's 184th Fighter Wing and is still in use today.
Tinton Falls, New Jersey is a town in Morris County, New Jersey, United States. The population was 7,651 at the 2010 census. Tinton Falls was founded in 1788 by Dr. George Tinting and his family. The community name is derived from the creek that runs through it and its namesake tree, which stands in the center of town. The first permanent settler in Tinton Falls was George Tinting who arrived there on July 6, 1788 with his family from Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. He built a log cabin on what is now Main Street and named it "Tinton Falls." In 1814, he sold land to Captain John Stevens for $2 million dollars as part of an effort to build a road through Morris County so farmers could bring their produce to market. In 1835, Colonel John Crampton donated land to the township for school purposes and renamed it "Tinton Falls Township". After the Civil War ended in 1865, many residents moved away because of Production Act -era taxes they had to pay on lumber exports. They returned during Reconstruction but left again after 1st World War when prices for logs began to drop drastically due to war efforts. In 1951, engineer James Gorman designed and constructed a new water main under downtown Tinton Falls using an innovative pipe-laying method known as pneumatic fracturing (PTFE). This allowed water companies throughout Morris County access to large quantities of shale gas reserves under downtown without having to truck or carry goods up mountainside roadsides

Tinton Falls is a small town in Mercer County, New Jersey, United States. The population was 1,711 at the 2010 census. The name comes from the Potomac River and Tinton Creek. It is located on the border of Mercer and Montgomery counties. The first German settlers in Tinton Falls were Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz and his family who arrived in 1764. They followed the Susquehanna River to its confluence with the Potomac River, then built a log cabin on what is now Post Road (now US Route 9). In 1814, Captain John Smith explored this area when he was captain of HMS " Discovery". He made contact with the Lenape people here and they supplied him with goods for his voyage back to England. In 1827-9, George Washington visited Tinton Falls while he was president of the United States. His visit is significant as it signaled American interest in this area and began development of roadbuilding plans which would lead to Tinton Falls becoming an important community. In 1872-4, Reverend James Hickey preached at Stowe Methodist Church here about stewardship of resources including land use and water management that were needed for future growth. At that time there were no schools or churches in this part of Mercer county so he started one here himself called “The White House” which served as a meeting place for school board meetings until 1905 when a new building replaced it east of Main Street (now US Route 9). One reason why Tinton Falls became such an important community was because it had access to both water supplies – coming off nearby Mount Vernon Hill – as well as timberlands providing wood products such as papermaking lumber until recently remained significant sources of income for many families in this rural part of Mercer County especially given hilly topography which limited agricultural production once mills became available elsewhere around Princeton NJ during the 19th century This also led to some manufacturing businesses being established here like Jardine & Hastings Paper Mill which produced Corrugated Cardboard Boxes using river sawdust until 1965 before moving into new mill buildings on Swede Drive near where current day I-95 crosses overriver just south of town limits) . By 1920s most residents working within close proximity did not need transportation further away than Princeton NJ so trains stopped running through town making it easier for residents to get their products/services
Tinton Falls was a small settlement located in Union County, New Jersey, United States. It was founded by John Tinton and his family in 1793. The village ceased to exist on December 31, 1873, when it merged with the adjacent town of Easton.
