The Tenafly Coffee House started off as a small business run by Anthony Anagnos in 1892. It was one of the first stores to offer maga coffee which at the time was new to America. At its peak, Anthony's Coffee had around 20 customers per day. In 1907, Harry’s Place became one of ten places in Union County to sell maga coffee when it opened its doors for business on Route 9 near what is now Westfield Elementary School on Park Avenue South in Tenafly Township . Joe’s Cafeteria followed suit two years later on North Seventh Street just south of present day intersection of Westfield Avenue South and Park Avenue South . Finally, the Golden Nugget Café opened up shop four years after Harry’s Place providing an excellent opportunity for tourists and locals alike to purchase refreshment while enjoying some quality cups of joe!

Tenafly, New Jersey is a small town located in Morris County, New Jersey. The population was 7,872 at the 2010 census. Tenafly is part of the Philadelphia metropolitan area. The first Europeans to arrive in what is now Tenafly were Dutch settlers who established a trading post there in 1664. In 1814, the United States purchased from Spain the lands comprising what is now Tenafly and gave it to Nicholas Morison as part of his purchase of Rancho Santiago de Atascosa from Juan Rodriguez de Alvarado. The Morisons named their new land after their uncle, John Forbes Livingston (1765-1837), 6th Earl of Lorne. In 1824, George Washington visited Tenafly and pronounced it "a fine place". In 1865, Tenafly became an incorporated village when the Township of Morris granted incorporation to its residents. The first mayor was James Heninger (1860-68). That year also saw the opening of one of America's first community banks - First National Bank - which still operates today as Citizens Bank Corporation. One early community resident was banker William Atherton (1820-92). Tenafly has been home to many important people in its history including: Ulysses S Grant (President Ulysses S., 1846-1922) and his wife Lucy Mercer Grant; Senator John F Kennedy (U.S.), 1960-1963; Mayor James Heninger (1945-2018); Chairman Jerome Ladd; current Mayor Tom Zeuske; Congressman Rodney Frelinghuysen Jr.; and many more notable citizens and leaders from within our beautiful town!

Tenafly was a small town in Mercer County, New Jersey, United States, founded in the early 1800s. The community was part of the larger Utica Township until it was disbanded in 1868. It became an incorporated town on March 29, 1898. In 1951, Tenafly annexed the neighboring borough of Great Falls. Tenafly is home to the only elementary school and post office in Mercer County and also served as the admittance point for many local businesses which grew out of agricultural pursuits such as farming peanut butter and jelly products, livestock feed and shoeshine parlors. The population of Tenafly peaked at 2,500 in 1930 but has declined since then; its current population is 1,190.
Tenafly was founded in 1790 byGeorge Washington and his family as a hamlet on the Scioto River. The town rapidly grew, reaching its peak during the 18th century with a population of around 4,000. However, the town's prosperity came to an end following the American Revolution and its aftermath. In 1824 Tenafly merged with neighboring Harrison Township to form a new township. The merger created a large rural area that remains largely unchanged today.
