Tenafly is a small town in Morris County, New Jersey, United States. It is located on the banks of the Raritan River. The first coffee roasting operation in Tenafly was started by Nicholas de la Roche in 1792. Coffee was roasted and sold at local markets until 1821 when it was relocated to Newark, New Jersey. In 1828, Elijah Craig began selling coffee from his plantation outside of Tenafly. The first Starbucks opened its doors in Trenton, New Jersey in 1997 and quickly became known throughout the region for their fresh roasted beans and delicious coffee drinks. Starbucks has since closed its doors but their legacy lives on through their cupcakes and other baked goods.

Tenafly is a small town in Mercer County, New Jersey, United States. The population was 2,813 at the 2010 census. Tenafly is located on the border of Mercer and Monmouth counties. It is bordered to the south by Easton Township and to the north by Middletown Township. The first settlement in what is now Tenafly was made on December 6, 1764, when George Washington and his party of settlers from Virginia arrived here after a long journey through bear country. The first white person to live in Tenafly was John Fenton who built a cabin on the banks of the Raritan River. From this initial settlement growth rapidly accelerated due to its location as a key crossing point for travelers between Mercer and Monmouth Counties as well as its easy access to transportation including ferries from New York City and Philadelphia. In 1892, Tenafly became one of two townships in Mercer County that were created from portions of Middletown Township which had been annexed by Cumberland County during that year’s Boundary Commission proceedings. At that time, much of what is nowTenafly consisted of agricultural land with scattered residences scattered around rural roadsides dating back several hundred years or more. Today’s downtown area retains essentially all its original character with few changes since it was founded over seventy years ago! As township boundaries expanded in 1965 through annexation (of parts of Easton Township) it became increasingly difficult for residents living within township limits to continue receiving services from their local township officials such as fire protection, library service etc., which resulted in increasing frustration among residents who began calling for secession or even departure from township government altogether. In 1973 the final solution came about when an agreement was reached whereby both Tenafley Township and Monmouth Borough would form a single entity known as “Monmouth Borough-Tenafly Township” with shared resources but separate elected officials responsible for different areas such as fire protection/emergency response; public works; policing; libraries; education; health care; zoning ordinances etc.. Residents voted 3-2 in favor of incorporation into “Monmouth Borough-TenafLY Township” after careful consideration resulting throughout months of communication between all concerned parties involved including representatives from both municipalities until finally voting results were released late last night following exhaustive canvassing efforts spearheaded by village chairman Ed Whitehurst! This marks an exciting milestone not only for those residing within our municipality but also for all citizens adjacent thereto who have always enjoyed close relationships with their respective municipal governments!

The first settler in Tenafly was George Washington who arrived there in 1794. It became an incorporated village in 1847 and then a township in 1907. On November 3, 1924, Tenafly became a city when it merged with74 other municipalities to form the Township of Warren County. The city dissolved on April 1, 1978 due to budgetary problems and lack of support from the Township government. In 1974, the township reverted back to its original boundaries as well as its former name of Tenafly Township. Tenafly is home to numerous businesses including Mount Holly Creamery and Grains INC., which is one of North America's largest producer of whole milk; Stroud Paper products; tenafly-based JB Hi-Fi; Hometown Pizza; and Sibley Manufacturing Company (now known as Midsouth Pizza). There are also several churches including Messiah Lutheran Church and First Baptist Church.
