Over time, this city has become a leading center for coffee production, with an infrastructure in place to produce high-quality beans. Today, Summit is home to several licensed roasting facilities as well as a variety of cafes and restaurants that serve quality coffee. Summit's relationship with coffee begins with its founding in 1836 by Nicholas Roebuck. Roebuck was one of the first people to realize the potential of Coffee as a drinkable commodity and he started selling ground beans at his store in what is now lower Manhattan. At first, Roebuck only sold his beans direct to customers - but over time he tasted many different types of coffees and began buying whole bean coffees from farmers around New Jersey. This experience led him to create his own roast style which we still enjoy today: rich flavor profile with smooth body. "The history of Summit Coffee goes back more than two hundred years... It all started when Nicholas Roebuck founded Summit Coffee on or about December 12th 1836." It wasn't until after Nicholas Roebuck passed away in 1865 that his nephew John Waddell took over management of the business and continued developing it into what it is today - an excellent source for high-quality roasted Starbucks-like cups of Joe every day! In 1922, John Waddell opened up the first retail shop inside downtown Summit - making it possible for people living outside the city limits to purchase delicious Brookings Valley espresso drinks! In 1776, a group of New Yorkers founded what is now Summit Coffee Roasters, one of the most well-known coffee companies in America. The company continues to be headquartered here today. In 1902, Summit Coffee Roasters merged with two other companies,Dutch Bros. and American Coffee Works, creating what is now American Coffee Works/Summit Coffee Roasters Incorporated. This merger marked the beginning of an era in which Summit became one of America's largest coffee companies. Throughout the years, Summit has been a leader in quality and innovation when it comes to coffee products. Today, they continue to produce world-renowned espresso drinks and roasts for their customers all over the United States and internationally.
Summit is a town in Middlesex County, New Jersey, United States. The population was 7,821 at the 2010 census. Summit is located on the northern border of the township of Dumont and the borough of Mount Olivet. The name "Summit" is derived from English meaning "headquarters." It was given to the town by Sir John Sinclair in 1784 as part of his gift to Dumont Township. The first post office was established in 1837 and named for Sir John Sinclair. In 1882, Summit became a borough within Middlesex County when it merged with Mount Olivet Borough. In 1923, Summit again became a borough when it joined the Township of Dumont formed from parts of both municipalities. In 1974, Summit incorporated as a village pursuant to an act passed by the New Jersey Legislature which granted villages power to make their own decisions regarding local issues such as zoning and fiscal management. The economy of Summit has been based primarily on agriculture since its founding; however, over time there have been various attempts at industrial development including paper manufacturing (the first being done in 1907), shoe manufacturing (the first being done in 1912), plastics production (the first being done in 1947), and even a few restaurants and stores before these eventually went out of business or were closed down due to competition from more recent arrivals such as shopping malls or larger towns with more modern infrastructure. However, no major industry has survived long enough to significantly impact the community economically since they arrived; instead most businesses have either closed down or moved out altogether because they could not compete with newer arrivals or better-funded ones.

Summit, New Jersey is a town in Mercer County, New Jersey, United States. The population was 7,812 at the 2010 census. Summit was founded in 1799 by Loyalists from North Carolina as a stop on the route of the Western Railroad. The name "Summit" honors Sir George Washington's Mount Vernon estate and President James K. Polk's home in nearby West Point. In 1824, Summit became part of Princeton Township and its boundaries were expanded to include present-day East Brunswick Township and portions of Hackensack and Pompton Lakes townships. It was incorporated as a borough on March 14, 1898 by an act of the New Jersey Legislature under then-Governor Woodrow Wilson. On November 4, 1920, during World War II, Summit became one of 101 communities across the United States that participated in the mass evacuation plan known as Operation Halyard which aimed to move civilians away from combat zones before they were bombed or invaded by Japan or Germany. In August 1943 Summit native Edward Rutherfurd wrote a letter to his friend Franklin D. Roosevelt pleading for help evacuating people from points near Berlin due to Nazi bombings; Roosevelt approved the request and ordered U.S.-Canadian troops to provide airlift support forOperation Halyard On January 15th 1948 Summit celebrated its centennial with an event including speeches by Mayor John Wadleigh and Borough President Edwin Ladd; gifts such as silver cups engraved with 100 years of history were given out; also included exhibits about local history In 1986 Summit merged with neighboring East Brunswick Township to form what is now known as “The Boroughs”
In 1833, Summit was founded as a result of the merger of two small farming communities, Hackensack and Bedminster. The population of Summit at the time was around 100 people. In 1850, the town had a population of 1,500 people and in 1870 it had reached 5,000 people. In 1915, Summit became an incorporated municipality with a population of 10,000 people. In 1933, the United States Steel Corporation located its mills in Summit and other towns in New Jersey due to its need for high-quality steel products. The company employed over 10,000 workers in New Jersey during the 1930s. During World War II, Summit played an important role as part of the defense industry and produced materials for military production. After the war ended, many jobs were lost due to technological advancements and changes in society. However, some new businesses have arisen that are responsible for sustenance of local economies within Monmouth County since then such as ShopRite (now JCPenney) which opened up shop on Main Street in 1998; Quiznos which has been open since 2004; and Zappos which moved into their current location on Park Boulevard in 1999.
