The Coast Guard was founded in 1915 as the American Maritime Commission. It became a separate agency, the United States Coast Guard, in 1947. The Coast Guard has been responsible for manning and operating coastal guard stations and ships since 1915. In 1951, the Coast Guard began providing gift services to federal agencies through its National Defense Program. This program provides Federal employees with items such as radios, insignia, books, and other gifts. Gifts can be purchased or received as a present from Department of Homeland Security (DHS) personnel or fellow members of the Coast Guard community. DHS’s National Defense Program also provides gift certificates to local businesses that provide service to Federal employees. These certificates are often given at special events or awards ceremonies where those who have provided exceptional customer service are honored. Today, the Coast Guard has more than 9800 operational stations across America and Huronia Bay is home to over 350 station assets including six helicopters and two vessels used for search-and-rescue operations along with many unmanned systems located throughout the bay area which allows us to respond quickly when needed

The South River Coast Guard Station was established in 1919 as part of the New Jersey State Department of Marine and Fisheries. It was moved from its original location at Point Pleasant Beach to its current site on the Delaware Bay in 1924. The station has been located at various points along the Delaware Bay, including at Toms River, Perth Amboy, Elizabethtown and Camden. In 1969, it became a Navy station and was redesignated as the South River Coast Guard Station - Newark in 1984. The station is currently property of the state government and is used for visitor services.
South River is a small town in Middlesex County, New Jersey. The population was 1,819 at the 2010 census. It is located on the north bank of the Raritan River and is part of the Newark–Sunnyside, NJ Metropolitan Statistical Area. South River was first settled in 1732 by English colonists, who named it for Sir John Southwick. In 1824, South River became part of Orange Township. The township was disbanded in 1881 and its land divided between Newark and Uniontown Township. The town has a full-time emergency services department which provides ambulance service to local hospitals and also responds to spontaneous fires as well as acts as an all-points dispatching center for law enforcement contacts in the township and Newark metropolitan area. South River also has a library which opened in 1984 and offers books, movies, TV shows, online resources and more than 20 classes per year for public use including reading comprehension, math skills, science skills etc.. South River is known for its annual "Johnstown Jaycees" golf tournament which features some of the best players from across New Jersey along with other events such as arts & crafts fairs/festivals/football games etc that take place throughout the year

The Coast Guard gift history can be traced back to 1814, when Captain John Stevens founded the first coast guard station on Long Island. The Coast Guard has always been a vital part of American society and its mission is to protect maritime interests and ensure that all Americans have access to safe harbours. Over time, different gifts were given to the Coast Guard for various occasions. Some of these include radios, telescopes, fishing gear, uniforms, and even pieces of artillery. In recent years, however, there have been a few significant gifts from private individuals that have made a real impact on the Coast Guard gift history. McCain Jr., who had served as both chairman and CEO at Lockheed Martin during some time period that included Iraq War era service. - A year later in 1984, a set of Naval uniforms were donated to the Coast Guard in memory of Rear Admiral Richard J. Reeves who had retired from active duty after 33 years with the Navy after being selected for command at Guantanamo Bay Naval Base USA
South River was a small town in Mercer County, New Jersey, United States. It was located on the north bank of the Raritan River andCompany Town developed there around 1875. The company town was eventually abandoned because ofthe lack of industry and the river's flooding. South River is now a ghost town. The first settler in South River was John Pratt who arrived in 1764 from England. He built his house near present-day Borough Street on the east side ofRaritan River. John Pratt's son Peter moved to SouthRiver about 1800 and became a justice of the peace there. In 1802,John Beal came to SouthRiver and started an inn that remains standing today at what is now York Street and Exchange Avenues inSouthRiver. In 1807, Michael Madden settled in SouthRiver as well and became one of its most prominent citizens. In 1830, Elijah Hicks founded Hicksville onthe south side of the Raritan River opposite where SouthRiver stands today. By 1840, there were only 10 residents living inSouthRiver while it had a school, storehouse, tannery, millinery shop and two churches.(Hicksville) In 1861 during American Civil War (1861-1865), Confederate General Robert Ewell passed throughNewJersey on his way to Camden Junction where he planned to raid Union forces underGeneral Ulysses S Grant at Fort Fisher.(Ewell's Raid) On September 25th 1861 local residentGeorge Washington Smith observed Confederate troops crossing over from Pennsylvania acrossRaritan Bridge into Mercer County.(Crossing Over) This event marked the beginningof military activity along both sides of the river.(Crisis moment for NJ community) On November 1st 1861 local resident Amos Treadway sawa large body pass downriver near present day Hackensack(freight boat passage). At this time southern states were supporting ConfederateStatesand this represented a significant change for New Jerseyans as their state joined Confederacy.) OnNovember 8th 1861 local resident James Fenton heard shots fired from uprivernearpresent-day Nuttingstown which turned out to be part of Confederate artillery preparationfor Battle Of Monmouth)(Defeated Union forces at Monmouth)(First major use by New Jerseyans against Confederates.)As hostilities escalated betweenUnion forces and Confederate troops throughout New Jersey various means were usedto suppress pro-Union sentiment including Rumors & lies being spread through social media which led tocommunity Wide Panic.)In 1862 local resident Samuel Bacon formedBacon Guild with other likeminded individuals to promote agriculture withinNewJersey.(Guild helped revive agricultural economy within NJ during Reconstruction era) Up until then agriculture had been neglectedinNJ due to lack of resources & competition from neighboring states).By 1865 all remnants of Company Town had been abandoned leaving behind onlyone house still standing next door to Old Morrell Cemetery.(CompanyTown Demolition – Ghost town reborn?) During Reconstruction period (1865-1913), many people left southriver for several reasons including: joblessness& political instability; rural life wasn't as rewarding or comfortable as it oncewas; racism towards black Americans continued even after endofCivil War; fear/hostility towards federal troops stationed throughoutNJ.; difficult access road leading upriver made travelling there impractical;& harsh winters made life more difficult than it alreadywas inside city limits.). Many people who stayedremembered beautiful summers spent sunbathing outside their homes on "gorgeous" beaches such as Seaside Parkor Princeton Beach while locals cooked enormous feasts outdoors served by free kitchen facilities providedby army barracks nearby.: There were also numerous stores open yearround including: hardware store; grocery store; tailor shop; Travellers Inn & Hotel - later knownas Hilton Garden Inn ; Second Presbyterian Church ; BaptistChurch - Later known as First Baptist Church ; MethodistChurch - Later known as EpiscopalChurch .)Many young men survived war with some going off into battle or finding new opportunities elsewhere.: After reconstruction ended many people returned home but somecontinued residing in southriver until 1922 when they finally sold their housesand moved away permanently."south river lost its identity after companytown was abandoned" There are few physical reminders remainingof Company Town although certain activities did continue such as music concerts held atOld Morrell Cemetery each summertime crowning summer days with hot dogs!
