The United States Air Force deployed a gift to the people of Somerville, NJ in 2007. The gift was an A-10 Warthog aircraft. This gift was in honor of the town's military history and heritage. Somerville is located in Middlesex County, New Jersey and is home to the USAF's 6th Bomb Wing. The wing has been active since 1948 and serves as a primary training ground for USAF pilots. The wing also hosts international visitors from time to time. In 2007, Mayor James Izzo made the decision to deploy the A-10 Warthog aircraft as a way of honoring Somerville's military history and heritage. The warthog is one of America's most popular air forces and its capabilities have been put to use numerous times throughout its history including during World War II when it served as part of America's strategic bombing force; during the Vietnam War when it played a major role in suppression of insurgencies; and more recently in Operation Neptune’s Spear which was conducted against Taliban insurgents within Afghanistan. The A-10 Warthog aircraft is often used by Special Operations Forces (SOF) who are specifically tasked with locating, tracking, and engagement targets using precision munitions while performing operations such as assassination or reconnaissance missions outside enemy territory. SOF operators typically operate outfitted with state-of-the art equipment which includes Boeing M777E/F Longbow missile systems that can reach ranges up to 1,500 kilometers (600 miles). In 2007, Mayor James Izzo decided that this gift would be given in honor of Somerville’s military history and Heritage by deploying an A-10Warthog Aircraft - one designed specifically for aerial refueling - into the town limits!

Somerville, New Jersey is a small town in Morris County, New Jersey, United States. The population was 5,878 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Philadelphia–Camden–Wilmington Combined Statistical Area. Somerville is located on the Delaware River and is approximately 15 miles from Philadelphia. The first settlers in what would become Somerville were Dutch colonists who arrived in 1664. They named their community "New Amersfoort" after a place in Flanders where they had been living for several years. In 1701, British colonists founded a settlement at Bushkill Lake which became known as Bushkill Township. The township was dissolved in 1832 when it merged with neighboring West Milford Township to form Morris County. In 1881, Somerville incorporated as a borough and has remained that way since then. In 1916, the city of Camden annexed portions ofMorris County and placed Somerville within its boundaries; however, this annexation never took place because the Borough refused to sign an agreement acknowledging Camden's authority over Morristown and its residents. On November 2nd of that year, President Woodrow Wilson signed an executive order creating the Federal Reserve System in response to increased demand for money during World War I In 1927-28 the Community Pool Company opened one of America's first municipally owned swimming pools which still operates today under new management (known as BuckshotPool). The pool closed operations on July 1st 2006 due to lack of funding but reopened on August 6th 2006 under new management by Alliant Aquariums (formerly US Open Pool) Aquariums will operate it until 2020 when it will be sold back to municipalities for use as another open water pool again managed by local communities

Somerville, New Jersey is a town in Middlesex County, New Jersey, United States. The population was 7,052 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Newark–Jersey City Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first settlers in what is now Somerville were Dutch colonists who arrived in 1664. The town was founded on May 8, 1795, by men from Burlington County and Perth Amboy Township who had come to purchase land in that area from the Lenni Lenape people. On July 1, 1814, Somerville became an incorporated borough. Somerville's history goes back to its founding as a small rural community located on the border of Middlesex and Essex Counties. In 1814 there were only 10 residents in Somerville; by 1860 it had grown to over 150 with a post office and store. In 1870, Somerville voted to become an independent city and was renamed after George Washington Street (now Independence Boulevard). During World War II Somerville served as a training ground for many of the country's lend-lease units such as Ground Forces Command Headquarters (HQG), Ninth Air Force and Fifteenth Air Force; it also hosted facilities for both Naval Ordnance Corps Ammunition Depot No. 4 (now known as Demarest Arsenal) and Manhattan Beach Army Terminal which processed military supplies arriving by sea from America's ports including Staten Island and Brooklyn Heights on Long Island Sound. An important aspect of Somerville’s wartime history are its two airfields – North American Aviation Airport (now Raritan Valley Airport) across Route 206 east of downtown SOMERVILLE during World War II when much fighter activity took place over New York City; also present are restricted use runways taxiway/elevated rights airport property extending out past runway boundaries forming today’s Hollis Street Ramp Extension & Southside Drive |owned & operated by Northrop Grumman Corporation Incorporated| immediately adjacent to Municipal Airport [Raritan Valley] today housing various commercial tenants associated with aviation activities until recently...
