The Air Force has been in operation since World War II. The first peacetime USAF was activated on February 1, 1947. It was the Continental United States Air Forces (CONUS). Inactivated on October 15, 1949. On July 14, 1980, the USAF re-activated as the Air National Guard under the command of Headquarters United States Air Force. It is one of seven branches of the U.S Armed Forces and one of two service branches with a global reach. As part of Operation Neptune's Spear, USAF played a vital role in conducting air patrols over the Persian Gulf during Operation Desert Storm in 1991; and again played an important role in support operations during Operation Enduring Freedom in 2001 and 2002. On November 4, 2010, it was announced that Northrop Grumman Corporation will become a partner organization within Lockheed Martin Corporation to create LockheedMartin Aeronautics Presents: The Jetset Showcase which will celebrate 50 years of military aviation and aerospace engineering excellence across multiple platforms including fighter planes, satellites and specialoperations aircraft like F-35 Lightning II Joint Strike Fighter! Secaucus, New Jersey is a town in Hunterdon County, New Jersey, United States. As of the 2010 Census, the town had a population of 66,932. The name "Secaucus" was derived from "secum" (a Meadow or Slough), and "-ucasis" (a -grounds). The first Europeans to visit Secaucus were Giovanni da Verrazzano and his crew on October 5, 1524 when they landed at White Sands beach and explored the area around what is now Secaucus. The river that flows through Secaucus was named after this location on October 6, 1707 by Captain John Stevens for lieutenant governor of New York George Washington's forces during their victory over the French at Monmouth Junction on September 14th. Captain John Stevens also built a tavern called The Tavern of Captain Stevens in 1680 which still stands today as part of the historical district known as Dutch Village. In 1714, Sir Nicholas-Jacques Conte purchased some land north of present day Route 9 and built what is now known as the East Campus School. This school would be tuition-free for white students until 1868 when it became accessible to all students regardless of race. In 1776 General George Washington marched his army through Secaucus on their way to Trenton so that he could enter into Philadelphia with full honors. On December 12th 1776 General Washington's army camped at an unknown location near present day Westwick Road between Newark Avenue and Union Street before moving northeast onto Northumberland Avenue towards Princeton where they encamped for night near Princeton University before continuing their march next morning on towards Morristown where they stopped for coffee on December 13th 2017 according to Google Maps On January 10th 1800 Pierre L'Enfant drew up plans for what would become Paris Township including Secaucus with its current boundaries which are southward along Present Day Route 9 from White Sands beach eastward along Boundary Road thence southward along Boundary Creek thence eastward along Ridgefield Avenue northwestward until it reaches Newtown Creek which formed the border between Paris Township and Elizabethtown Township. Upon approval by Governor James Ketchum these boundary changes were made effective February 1st 1800 . The first settler in Secaucus was Johannes Gutenberg who arrived there in 1688 with about eighty people who bought three acres (about 0.8 km2) of forest land from Abraham de la Salle II near where Main Street currently crosses Ridgefield Avenue off route 9 across from Dutch Village park.. In 1692 two more families came to Secaucus from England; one family owned 8 acres (3 hectares) adjacent topresent day Main Street opposite Dutch Village while another familyowned 4 acres (1 hectare) just west sideofpresent dayRoute 9 acrossfromDutchVillage park.. From 1700-1800 most settlers coming to Secacus came either via ship or wagon because horseback transportation was not possible or because there was no good landing place available other than White Sands beach or an exposed bluff overlookingthe ocean

Secaucus, New Jersey is a small town in Hudson County, New Jersey, United States. The population was 9,890 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Newark-Jersey City metropolitan area. The first settler in Secaucus was Nicholas de Villemarche in 1664. In 1824, John Cochrane donated land to build a sawmill and gristmill on the Hightower River which became Secaucus Mill Company. The first post office in Secaucus opened in 1827. In 1832, Jens Peder Rasmussen founded the First National Bank of Secaucus with $2,000 from his father-in-law Bendt Jensen. The bank became one of the largest banks in New Jersey and reached its peak under management of George Biddle until it went bankrupt during the Panic of 1893. In 1860s and 1870s there were several waves of German immigrants who arrived inSecaucus through Ellis Island: 1860 - Steffen Weisgerber (born 14 October 1850) came to America as an agricultural labourer; he eventually married Anna Maria Kappeler (14 November 1850 – 15 May 1918), daughter of Johan Kappeler (17 September 1749 – 8 October 1830), a farmer from Nesselrode am Rhein near Frankfurt am Main who had come over as a child with his family on board the "Gleiwitzer" ship on 30 March 1784; they had three children: Johannes Gotthard Weisgerber (25 July 1865 – 2 December 1943) born 25 July 1865 at 4 pm; Bertha Elisabeth Weisgerber (10 December 1870 at 6 pm); and Martinus Julius Weisgerber (6 May 1875 – 3 January 1942). The first school open up shop here was called Beech Street School which started operation on 15 September 1886 by Mrs Fenton Mclntyre From then until 1912 when it closed down due to lack of students after Mrs Fenton's death[3]. There are references back to 1886 which show that one possibility for opening a school may have been because local farmers needed help getting ready for winter so they could sell their produce[4]. This development led to another business opportunity for Mr Rasmussen when he met Reverend Abram Tilden who offered him use of his printing press services for putting out newspapers[5][6] . After meeting Reverend Tilden Mr Rasmussen decided to open up his own paper store but this too failed because not enough people wanted their newspapers printed outside where they could be seen by all.[7] At some point around 1907 or 1908 Mr Rasmussen decided that he might like to start selling ice cream from his store since it seemed like an interesting sideline activity[8][9] . Eventually ice cream became such an important part of Secaucus's economy that original factory buildings still remain today including one next door used as Borough Hall today[10], making this township one of few townships still functioning directly from its early days right up until present day
The town of Secaucus, New Jersey was founded in 1764 by the Dutch. It became a borough in 1873 and then a city in 1899. The city was renamed after George Washington in 1907.
