The United States Air Force has been providing air support to the nation for over 60 years. Rutherford is a town in Union County, New Jersey, United States. The population was 3,693 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Philadelphia–Camden-Wilmington, PA-NJ Metropolitan Statistical Area. Rutherford was founded by Scotsman John Rutherford in 1779 as a small village on the southern border of what is now Camden County and became a borough in 1834. Its original name may have been derived from William Rutherford's family name (which spelled "Fulton"). In 1846 it became a state borough with boundaries that changed little until 1957 when it merged with Easton to form the current township. The townships were abolished by act of Assembly on March 15, 2009 and their constituent sections are now included within Camden County. Rutherford has two schools: Harding School District #2 and Northumberland Regional Schools District #1 which serve students from pre-kindergarten through 12th grade. There are also community colleges located in nearby Jenkintown and Easton which offer associate degrees and diplomas programs for students who want to continue their education after leaving school or for those who have already completed some college courses but would like to pursue additional training or certification.

The USAF has a history that goes back to World War I when it was founded as the Aero Club, which later became the Aeronautical Division of the Army Signal Corps. The USAAF was created on September 15, 1947 when President Harry S Truman signed into law the National Security Act of 1947 which merged all three predecessor organizations: The Aero Club, Army Signal Corps and Navy Department's Bureau of Aeronautics into one organization known as "the United States Air Force". The USAF traces its origins to World War I where it was founded as part of the Aero Club. After being disbanded in 1917, its successor organization, The Aeronautical Division of Army Signal Corps, played an important role in helping organize and lead America's first air forces during World War I. On September 15th 1947 President Harry S Truman signed into law a bill merging all three predecessor organizations - The Aero Club,Army Signal Corps and Navy Department's Bureau of Aeronautics - into one organization known as "the United States Air Force." With this merger came corresponding changes within each branch with aviation becoming an increasingly important facet in American life. In 1948 aviators at Wright-Patterson AFB flew their first operational fighter mission while at Langley AFB they flew their first Boeing 707 bomber! This monumental event helped establish postwar US military aviation leadership and set new standards foralerly preparedness! Today we continue along these same lines by flying ourRCA decommissioned A-4 Skyhawks off Beechcraft Plant Liberty Island for restoration!
The USAF Gift History began on December 1, 1948 with the creation of the United States Air Force by Congress. The USAF was created as an arm of the Department of Defense and shared many common elements with other federal departments and agencies. One of these was the establishment of a gift program to support military service members and their families. One of the earliest gifts through this program was a stipend for pilots in training. This gave pilot cadets an opportunity to receive a small tuition reimbursement while they were attending school. The gift has grown over time, and today provides various benefits for airmen and their families including housing, food, medical supplies, transportation, holiday cheer, educational opportunities, and more.
Rutherford was founded in 1788 by John Rutherford and his wife Susanna. The town, located near the Delaware River, became a center for scientific research and development due to its location near the railroads and other resources. In 1876, Rutherford received its charter from New Jersey's first governor, James K. Polk. The city has since grown to become one of the most bustling and diverse cities in the state. Today, Rutherford is known for its Manufacturing sector as well as its diversity including African American/ Hispanic populations as well as various cultures represented in the city's businesses and households. The city is also home to many important cultural institutions including Rutgers University–Newark which offers undergraduate education along with graduate degrees in business administration, law, public health sciences and more.
Rutherford was founded in 1796 by Rutherford family. The first settler in the township was John Rutherford, who arrived in 1796. In 1807, James Fenton moved to the township and built a home on what is now Main Street. In 1830, two brothers, John and Peter Smith, settled in the township. They were the first farmers in Rutherford Township. In 1836, George Withers set up a tannery on what is now Second Avenue. The town of Rutherford began to prosper from this industry and soon had a population of around 100 people. In 1847, the Burlington Railroad came through town and started service to Philadelphia. This allowed for more people to start businesses in town and make money from their products. This period of time is known as the “Rutherford Boom” because so many businesses sprang up due to this new development. By 1850, there were over 200 people living in Rutherford Township alone!
