On September 15, 2006, it was announced by Governor Jon Corzine that Roselle would be merged into Paterson along with four other municipalities – Bergenfield (June 1, 2002), Clifton (July 1, 2003), Paramus (October 1, 2004) and Westwood (November 5th 2005). This merger will result in more than doubling the number of people living in one municipal area; however no decision has been made as to how many homes will be sold within this consolidation.
