Coast guard gift history in Roselle, New Jersey began with the establishment of the first Coast Guard detachment on Long Island in 1846. The Roselle detachment was disbanded in 1895, but the tradition of giving gifts to Coastal Guardsmen continued. In 1935, the Coast Guard District No. 2 was established and a gift shop was built at Pier 1 in Atlantic City. The store served as the official store for the District until it closed in 1984. In 1990, a new Coast Guard station was opened at Pierhead in Neptune Beach and a gift shop was also erected there. The store operated until 2004 when it closed due to financial difficulties. A new Coast Guard Station at Point Pleasant Park opened in 2003 and a gift shop has been erected there too. The Point Pleasant Park store is open every day from 9am to 5pm and features products related to the Coast Guard such as uniforms and insignias. The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey operates three ferry terminals located along Bayonne Avenue between Elizabeth Avenue and Hoboken Terminal: Ferry Terminal 1 (Bayonne), Ferry Terminal 2 (Newark), and Ferry Terminal 3 (Jersey City). At each terminal, you can buy tickets for ferries or get refreshments during your trip! Each terminal offers different merchandise options including postcards, T-shirts, hats, mugs, individual items or group gifts for favors like boat launches or picnics! The town became an important agricultural center during the early 19th century and also played a role in American politics. In 1848, Roselle voted in favor of joining the Union as part of New Jersey. During World War II,Roselle played an important role in providing defense against Japanese forces. After the war,Roselle experienced rapid growth as a result of its ties to Westinghouse Electric Company and other businesses. Today, Roselle is a thriving community with several popular local businesses and attractions.
Roselle was a small town in Mercer County, New Jersey, United States until the early 21st century. It is now part of Elizabethtown Township. The original population of Roselle was 879 people in 1837. In 1860, Roselle had a population of 2,442 and by 1880 it had grown to 4,848 people. The post office at Roselle opened on September 5, 1836 and closed on October 20, 1957.
