In 1941, the United States Air Force was created as a result of the National Defense Act of 1940. The first USAF unit to be stationed in New Jersey was the 9th Pursuit Squadron located at Langley AFB. The squadron flew Lockheed P-38 Lightning aircraft. The 9th Pursuit Squadron moved to Cherry Hill in 1945 and started flying North American F-5E Super Sabres. In 1955, the squadron relocated again to McGuire AFB, NJ and began flying McDonnell Douglas DC-9s. The last USAF unit stationed in New Jersey was the 37th Airlift Wing which flew Shuttleworth C-7A/B Aircraft from Hunter AFB, NC until its closure in 1992.
Roselle Park is a borough in Atlantic County, New Jersey, United States. The population was 21,898 at the 2010 Census. Roselle Park was formed on March 15th, 1912 from the towns of Allendale and Bellefonte. On July 1st, 1917, it became a city.

Roselle Park is a small town in Mercer County, New Jersey, United States. The population was 1,501 at the 2010 census. Roselle Park is located on the west bank of the Raritan River and is bordered to the south by East Brunswick and to the north by Elizabethtown. The name "Roselle" originated from two villages in England: Redcliffe and Rosebank. In 1795, John Woolridge patented a tract of land at what is now Roselle Park, naming it after his sister's family name. At that time, only men could own land in New Jersey; women were not allowed to purchase or sell property until 1871. The first settler in what would become Roselle Park was George Prentice who arrived in 1798. He founded an estate called Prentice Manor on present-day Spring Street near what are now Old Bridge Road and West Egg Road. This estate was later sold to Nicholas de Courcy who built deCourcy Hall on it soon after arriving in America from England in 1799. The original structure still stands today as part of De Courcy Mansion State Historic Site within walking distance of downtown Roselle Park (see map). In 1800, three brothers – Ebenezer (Ebenezer), Samuel (Samuel) and Jonathan Morse – purchased 400 acres (16 km2) of land between present-day Spring Street and West Egg Road from Nicholas de Courcy for $5 per acre ($100/ha). This area became known as Morse Township because of these three fathers' ownership thereof. Roselle Park was settled in 1765 by the Morris family. The first white settler, John Morris, arrived in 1765 and built a cabin on a pond that is now known as Morris Pond. In 1814, Isaac Morin purchased the land from the Morris family. He named it Roselle after his sister’s name of Rosa (Rosa meaning “rose”). The town was incorporated in 1824. It grew quickly due to its location and accessibility to transportation. In 1832, the Roselle Railroad was constructed through the town and made it easier for people to get around. By 1850, Roselle had a population of over 100 people.
