The United States Air Force deployed a gift to Red Bank, New Jersey in 1948. The gift was a Lockheed P-38 Lightning fighter aircraft and its trainer, the Lockheed P-38L1. The gift was made to the town as part of the celebration of America's victory in World War II. The fighter aircraft is now on display at Red Bank Regional Airport.
The U.S. Air Force deployed a gift of oxygen tanks, masks and other supplies to help small-town America deal with the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey. The gift was part of Operation Santa Claus, which is designed to ensure that every community in Houston has access to essential supplies and services during the storm. The AFG went beyond what was needed by deploying personnel and equipment from surplus military stocks, as well as donations from local businesses and individuals. The service also erected more than 100 tents in parking lots across the city in an effort to provide temporary shelter for people who have lost their homes or roofs in the storm. Operation Santa Claus is aDomestic Response Initiative led by Special Operations Command (USSOCOM). Its primary purpose is to improve preparedness and response capabilities of service members throughout the U.S., including those serving in Texas. This year’s event was one of many such deployments conducted by USSOCOM since its inception in 2015.
On Dec. 6, the New Jersey Air National Guard deployed a gift from the United States Air Force to Red Bank residents. The air force donated two Apache helicopters, each with a wingspan of 102 feet and an empty fuel tank, to the Red Bank Regional Airport for use as rideshare vehicles for local businesses.
Red Bank, New Jersey is a small town in Middlesex County, New Jersey. The population was 5,814 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Newark-Newark Metropolitan Statistical Area. Red Bank has a rich history dating back to 1737 when it was called "Reed's Ferry." The first post office in Red Bank opened in 1824. In 1870, the community became incorporated as a borough. It was renamed Red Bank Township on March 15, 1924. On May 1, 1970, Red Bank and East Brunswick were merged into one city with the name of Newark Liberty International Airport as its new central business district (CBD). The borough's economy is based on manufacturing and services including banking and insurance; retail trade; transportation; real estate; construction and extraction of natural resources such as coal and oil; agriculture; and tourism. Manufacturing declined after World War II but has since regained some prominence due to companies such as Unifac which manufactures metal objects outside of North America for export to other parts of the world. Red Bank is home to two universities: Rutgers University–Newark campus (Rutgers) and Monmouth University–Middletown Campus (Monmouth). Both universities offer undergraduate programs in arts and sciences with concentration in engineering, business administration or health care management/administration among others. There are also several professional schools located within Red Bank including law enforcement academies (such as Rider Law School), medical schools (such as Saint John’s College Hospital)and sports teams that compete in NJSIAA Division III championships-the Redbank Raiders football team along with basketball teams from both Rutgers men’s soccer team & Monmouth women’s soccer team
The United States Air Force deployed gift history on November 11, 1948 when it announced the K-9 "Pogo" dog mascot would be bestowed with a USAAF Serial Number. The first dog to bear that number was Pogo's namesake, "Pete", who served as the Second Lieutenant in the 4th Bomb Squadron at MacDill AFB, Florida from 1944 until his death in 1950. On December 10, 1948, First Lieutenant John H. Buttler became the first USAF airman to receive a K-9 toy when he received one for his beloved Welsh Corgi named Gwendolyn from Colonel James A. Doolittle of the 339th Fighter Wing at Yokota AB. On multiple occasions during 1949 and 1950, pilots and enlisted members of various squadrons received gifts from RAF Short Brothers Ltd., which manufactured and distributed military aircraft toys and accessories to American servicemen overseas. In 1951, Major General Leslie J. Groves visited MacDill AFB and presented an original Lockheed P-38 Lightning Warhawk fighter plane toy to First Sergeant Don Pogue of HQ 7th Bomb Group at Yokota AB; this was followed by other RAF planes such as Hurricanes (HML8) and Spitfires (SM4A1). From 1952 through 1954, Air Forces Attaches stationed overseas provided gifts for their units' Commanding Officers - e.g., Commander Royal Australian Air Force's No 1 Flying Training School gave its Commandant Superintendent an RAAF De Havilland Tiger Moth aeroplane toy; RAF Station Snaresbrook donated two Hawker Siddeley Hunter fighter planes; Headquarters Canadian Armed Forces presented new Beechcraft Bronco motorcycles to Squadron Leaders of No 3 Squadron at Dieppe Beach; Headquarters U.S. Third Army gifted two service rifles along with 100 rounds each of ammunition to Headquarters 515th Bombardment Wing at Geilenkirchen AB (later renamed Alconbury AB); Headquarters Ninth Army gifted four trucks along with gasoline cans and food rations to 913rd Troop Carrier Wing at Frankfurt/Main Airport; Eighth Air Force presentation included Commander Eighth AF's Waco AT-6 Texan trainer plane(serial number 848), Curtiss V-1670A model airplane #52101 (serial number 118223), eight unpainted metal Model A Cubs alloys kits plus parts for three Aircraft Control Radio sets "(serial numbers: 451–453)", Douglas DC-3C Skymaster airliner "Gift from America" certificate (#10595) undamaged but serial number misspelled GIVEFORTonAirForce Base? On October 15 1957 Lt Col John EFB accepted a gift certificate for $100 from Captain Harry Fenton Jr., commanding officer 3d Tactical Fighter Bomber Wing near Salt Lake City UT which had been sent by mail as follows: "To Capt Harry Fenton Jr.,Commanding 3d Tactical Fighter Bomber Wing To recognize your services while assigned herewith I present you this gift certificate entitling you free use of any Hangar or Flight Facility herein." This unique gesture underscored how important it was for commanders throughout the USAF that Gift History remained alive and well! It wasn't just USAF officers receiving unique gifts either - other branches of military were also beneficiaries including the Marine Corps who awarded Marine Sgt Raymond Trower a Tamiya OV-1 Iroquois helicopter kit in 1956; Navy Petty Officer 2nd Class Donald Lammers got his hands on an American Airlines Boeing 247 civilian passenger jet in 1958; British SAS troops took home a 'Camelot' Helicopter set in 1960 while Korean War veterans received replica 'Jeju Island' cockpit sets in 1962(*); ItalianAF ground forcesreceived a barracks hangar type barracks building complete with living quarters & kitchenette complete with TV & telephone in 1969(*). In 1992, after many years languishing on storage shelves waiting for someoneto take notice - finally! - Gift History was reactivated when Major General Rick Atkinson ordered its reintroduction into active duty within The United States Air Force under commandof Major General Hugh Shelton (*). And so it continues today as one of our most popular service organizations within The USAF!

The racial makeup of the township was 97% White*, 0% African American*, 1% Native American*, 0% Asian*[3], and 1% from two or more races.[4] Hispanic or Latinoof any race were 3% of all residents.
