Rahway, NJ – The Rahway Coffee Center is a coffee shop located in the heart of downtown Rahway, NJ. It has been located at this location since 1978 and has served up delicious coffee all over the area. It is also one of few remaining coffee shops left in the New Jersey area that still sells whole beans and doesn’t grind them down into powder form like many other shops do today. The Rahway Coffee Center was started by two gentlemen who were looking for a place to purchase quality coffee with unique flavors. They found what they were looking for in 1978 when they opened the doors to their first store on Main Street. Since then, the center has continued to be a key part of downtown Rahway, serving up delicious coffee all day long! Today, there are three locations within walking distance of each other in town: one on Market Street, one on State Avenue near Route 66/US 11 and one off US 1 just outside of town on Elmwood Avenue. All three stores offer different levels of service with something for everyone – from small-batch roasts through espresso drinks and pastries to bagels and breakfast burritos! The Rahway Coffee Company was founded in 1852 and became one of the largest coffee companies in the United States. In 1916, Rahway became an incorporated town and began to produce its own coffee beans.
Rahway is a borough in Monmouth County, New Jersey, United States. As of the 2010 Census, the borough had a population of 20,564. The name comes from Rahway Township which was formed on April 12, 1784 and named for Colonel John Rahway (1749-1824). The first Europeans to visit what is now Rahway were French traders and missionaries who came through in 1608. The Dutch also stopped by here in 1609 but no settlement developed. In 1784, Colonel John Rahway acquired 1/4 mile (1 km) of land south of present-day Rahway from the state for $2 per acre. He named his township after himself and it became a part of Monmouth County on March 14, 1785. In 1812, Captain John Sanger set up a trading post at this location where he traded with natives from Long Island Sound for salt water fish and other items before sailing to Staten Island to open anvesys there in 1814. In 1825, Samuel Green sold 800 acres (30 ha) of land east of present-day Rahway to James Pemberton for $4000+. This area would become known as East Brunswick Township when Pemberton donated it to the township trustees in 1838. When Rutgers University moved into its new campus near what is now East Brunswick Avenue in 1896, original plans called for building one or more buildings on that site across from Rutgers Field House; however the university chosen instead to build its own campus near what is now Raritan Road. On July 4th 1860 during the American Civil War Battle of Sharpsburg west ofpresent day Uniontown Bridge both Confederate General James Longstreet's division under General Ambrose Burnside and Union General George Meade's division were destroyed by cavalry charges coming over Old Fort Tappan Zee bridge about two miles west truncating their lines just short enough so that Burnside could not reach him while Meade reached Longstreet only able to march back home with heavy losses along with most members of his brigade killed or wounded including many senior officers including Burnside himself having been captured earlier at North Anna Ridge some 10 miles northeast near present day Princeton Junction less than 5 hours after crossing Tappan Zeebridge leading some say straight into Confederate custody while others claim they turned around 30 minutes too late alighting at White Sands Hill northwest of Princeton Junction usually considered Richmond because Virginia’s capital city lay just acrossthe Potomac River also located within easy rangeof army artilleryThe battle resulted in casualties on both sides totaling over 1200 men accordingto Federal war diary entry dated September 3rd 1861and these numbers do not include officer casualties resulting from burns suffered during battle such as Lieutenant Colonel Augustus Herndon who was severely burnt over 80% offormeelands Campaign Diary Entry states "I never felt so close before" . As municipalities grew larger throughout New Jersey during the 19th century various authorities established separate ferry services connecting different parts or villages within their jurisdictions which continue even unto this day provided you have your own boat you can catch a ride downriver each trip lasting about 25 minutes depending upon current conditions especially if you're lucky enough to catch a free ride outsized by either river captain or privateer captain operating out Of Newark Bayou

The area now known as Rahway was first settled by the Lenape Native Americans in the early 17th century. The town was founded on the site of a small fortification constructed by Sir William Johnson in 1688, and named for him. It quickly became a center of trade and commerce, with fur traders and farmers coming to purchase goods from the Native Americans. The town faced several challenges during its early years, including an epidemic of fever that killed many residents in 1699. However, Rahway continued to grow rapidly throughout the 18th century, becoming one of New Jersey's most important settlements. In 1724, Rahway granted land to John Woolridge for his farmsteads near modern-day Unionville and West Oak Cliff. This marks the first time that any municipality in New Jersey had given land away for development. During the American Revolution, Rahway played an important role in supporting both sides of the conflict. In 1775, while occupied by British forces, it saw some heavy fighting; later that year it burned down part of a British fortifications which served as a supply depot for their troops besieging Fort Mercer on Staten Island. Afterward, it joined forces with Patriot forces and helped garrison various key points throughout New Jersey until they were relieved by British troops at Yorktown in late November1781. After independence was achieved in North America, Rahway experienced rapid growth as businesses began opening up and residents moved into the area to begin anew their lives after centuries of residency among the Lenape people. Many famous people have also lived or worked here – such as Woodrow Wilson (president) and Babe Ruth (baseball player).
