The popularity ofNJ's espresso scene led to the development of additional shops throughout the state over time, with many residents turning out to support this unique flavor style. By the late 1920s and early 1930s, Pompton Lakes had become one of New Jersey's leading coffee communities with its own production brewery and roastery that supplied nearby towns with quality beans and cups! Today, more than twenty years after becoming an official town in New Jersey, Pompton Lakes still boasts a thriving caffeine culture - thanks in part to our talented local farmers who continue to produce top-quality beans every step of the way!
Pompton Lakes, New Jersey is a small town in Middlesex County, New Jersey. The population was 2,611 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Newark-Uniontown, NJ metropolitan area. Pompton Lakes was founded in 1878 by John Pompton and his wife Julia. The Pomptons were among the first Europeans to settle in this area and their home still remains as a museum today. The community began as an agricultural community with land devoted to raising hay, apples orchards, dairy farms, and other livestock. However, over time development of industry began to take hold and Pompton Lakes became one of the most important industrial centers in northern New Jersey during the 20th century. This growth led to increased traffic congestion on Route 9 which created problems for both residents and businesses near the town center. In recent years however redevelopment has taken place that has made Pompton Lakes more pedestrian oriented with new stores and restaurants opening up along Route 9A including a large brewery called Tandem Craft Brewery that opened in early 2018. Samuel Pompton II was born in 1841 in Rochester Township, Bucks County, Pennsylvania and immigrated to America in 1853. He worked as a farmhand and carpentry worker before founding his own grocery store in 1886 at 246 Route 203B in Pompton Lakes. The Pomptons were influential members of local society and served on several local boards including the board of education and waterworks board. They also donated land for the creation of Borough Park which now includes part of neighboring Glassboro Township. Pompton Lakes has experienced some significant changes over time; most notably its population size has plummeted since World War II when it peaked at around 10,000 people . However, there have been recent efforts made to revive the community through social media (particularly through Facebook) and events such as a summer reunionEach year during July-September there is an event called " Festivals & Fairs" where various cultural programs are offered including music concerts attended by locals as well as visitors from nearby towns such as Glassboro Township and Lawnside Park . The Pompton Lakes area of New Jersey was first settled in the early 17th century by Europeans. The first white man to live in the Pompton Lakes area was Nicholas Palladino, who arrived in 1698. The region became part of East Jersey when it was annexed by New York in 1764. In 1834, the township of Pompton Lakes was created from portions of Monmouth and Passaic Counties. The township remained an independent municipality until 1974, when it merged into Union County.
