The Navy has been deploying gift baskets and items to Point Pleasant, New Jersey for many years now. The town was once a Coast Guard station and is home to the Naval Air Station Sigonella. In 1951, the Naval Air Station Sigonella opened with 4 F-4C Phantom jets. It was here that Lieutenant Commander John W. Emmons became the first person to fly in a Lockheed Constellation (L-3A). The squadron continued flying until it was disbanded in 1991. However, the airport remains active as an airbase providing services to Island County residents and visitors today. Gift history of Point Pleasant began with when Commodore John Pendergast donated land on which the Naval Air Station Sigonella would be built. This led to the USS Constitution being sent here in 1922 as part ofOperation Albion! After World War II, Fort Monmouth was closed and replaced by HMAS Melbourne as Point Pleasant's only military installation! In 1946, Stonington's first post office opened atoll after it was purchased from French Guiana! During this time, Maritime Command operated out of Melbourne until 1949 when they moved ashore at Point Pleasant! The last ship stationed at Melbourne barracks before its closure was USS Ranger in 1957 however, Ranger did not stay there long as she served primarily within Amphibious Squadron 5 based out of Charleston harbor! In 1961, HMS Hermes transferred from Portsmouth Harbour to Point Pleasant docks following her completion of conversion into an amphibious warfare ship! She served throughout both Vietnam War era operations and Operation Desert Storm during the late 1990s/early 2000s!. While serving here she also participated in exercises offshore including Exercise Caribou 2003 which took place off New Jersey coast on October 20th 2003 It wasn't until 2002 thatPoint Pleasant hosted their very own Fleet Week celebration which included exhibits from several navy ships including USS Enterprise CVN 619 & USS Miami (LPD-10) . This event helped increase tourism around town resulting in more businesses coming online such as Captain’s Choice Gifts Inc., Shoprite Supermarkets & more joining forces with government agencies like NJ Division of Homeland Security & Customs Enforcement - all helping support local economy while showcasing stateofthenavalfleet experiences for tourists & locals alike.. In addition to displays from various navy vessels; public demonstrations were also held featuring tugboats restoration work being done on Elizabeth River while barge operations were conducted near Jefferson Avenue Pier; Nautical recreations taking place onboard trainers during boating safety classes offered by Sailors United States Coast Guard Auxiliary; live music performed by "Plymouth Hounds" piracy task force detachment ; exhibiting artwork created by students at Hunterdon Valley High School Gallery program; children’s activities such as arts and crafts tastings available for purchase along with refreshments for adults

Point Pleasant is a small town in Morris County, New Jersey, United States. The population was 3,834 at the 2010 census. Point Pleasant is located on the Delaware River and is north of Philadelphia. It was named for Lieutenant General John Sullivan (1756-1824), an American Revolutionary War officer and founder of the city of Philadelphia. The first Europeans to arrive in Point Pleasant were Dutch traders and farmers who set up a trading post in 1736. The English began their own settlement in 1739 and called it Elizabethtown after Queen Elizabeth I's coronation. In 1764, British General George Washington visited Elizabethtown while on his way to fight against the French and Indian War (1763-1774). He ordered military stores to be sent here from Newark, which increased the population by 100 people. In 1802, settlers from Pennsylvania arrived here with Henry Dearborn as their leader. Dearborn had immigrated from England and became one of America's leading entrepreneurs when he founded what would become Dearborn Township in 1814. Point Pleasant was incorporated as a township on April 15, 1825, from part of Southwark Township.. On October 15th 1860 during the American Civil War Union forces attacked Confederate troops entrenched at Fort Mercer near Point Pleasant Creek Bridge; this attack led to a two-day siege that ended with no casualties on either side but severe damage to fortifications around the town including large brick walls destroyed or damaged beyond repair; this event helped spur development around Fort Mercer as both sides built new fortifications over time In 1870, President Ulysses S Grant issued an executive order that designated Point Pleasant as "the depot for coal shipments through Philadelphia." This area quickly became known as "the coal capital of North America." Gifts have ranged from small items such as pens and pencils to larger items such as boat anchors, radar dishes, and combat vehicles. Gift history has a long tradition within the navy. It is not unusual for sailors to send each other small presents during peacetime deployments. However, when war breaks out, sailors tend to turn their attention to gifting their friends and family members. There are many different reasons why marines might choose to gift military equipment or supplies. Sometimes these gifts are given as a form of appreciation for heroic deeds or service rendered; other times they may be simply as a way to show support throughout an event or deployment. In World War II, the navy deployed over 1 million gift items total (including both combat and non-combatant gifts). Most of these were purchased by Rear Admiral John J. Pershing himself and his staff at Naval Supply Depot Carlsbad in New Mexico after he became Commanding General United States Fleet Forces Europe in 1945-1946. Many naval officers found it difficult to find appropriate gifts for their troops overseas while on active duty; so Pershing's initiative was welcomed by many who appreciated his efforts in bringing order back into our warship stores during wartime chaos. Gift shipments continued through the Korean War before slowing down completely during Vietnam due largely to political constraints on DOD spending priorities at that time. During Operation Desert Storm/ Gulf War I (1990-1991), DOD spent $5 million on shipping munitions only instead of giving away free commodities like food or water vouchers![1] This demonstrates just how important it is for commanders within the Navy Department to make sure all resources are used efficiently when deployed domestically and abroad! [2] Unfortunately, this type of activity does not always happen easily or smoothly - there have been several occasions where donations received via email go unopened because no one was available at the time they were required.[3] Even more regrettable is when donors inadvertently send incompatible types of goods together which can lead to very expensive returns (e.g., Marine Hummer HVAC unit with generators). As part of its response plan related specificallyto Gift Policy changes implementedin 2006,[4][5] NAVSEA plans on targeting specific donation categories whenever possible in order better assess what materials should be sent along with individual packages[6]. One unique aspect about naval gift history is how personal relationships between Sailors develop over time while serving aboard ship or stationed ashore worldwide under various command structures/commanders/titles etc... Personal relationships often result in sending smaller parcels directly home rather then going through higher level official channels...sometimes this allows individuals additional 'me' time ashore without having TOO much pressure fromofficialdom...and some people do get REALLY riled up about being shut out!!!lol

Point Pleasant, New Jersey is a town located in Sussex County, New Jersey, United States. The population was 5,629 at the 2010 census. The name comes from a point on the Cape May River near where it meets the Delaware River. The first Europeans to visit Point Pleasant were Captain John Smith and his crew of the " Discovery" in 1609. They stopped at what is now Point Pleasant Township on their voyage back east from Jamestown Island. From this location they surveyed much of what is now Sussex County and made two maps of North America which are still in use today. The first inhabitant of Point Pleasant Township was Nicholas de Bry (1624-1692). He built a house on the present site of Easton Avenue and named it after himself - "Bry's Cove." In 1797, George Washington leased land atpresent-day Market Street for military purposes and set up quarters there. Two years later he moved his headquarters to Trenton and continued to live here until he was impeached in 1801. For many years afterward Point Pleasant was considered part of Trenton because both communities shared common boundaries with each other. At that time only white people could vote in township elections; African Americans did not have voting rights until after Reconstruction when they were granted full citizenship by the US government. In 1800, settlers from Maryland arrived at Whatcom Neck on Clinton Creek to establish a trading post under the guidance of Colonel John Sellers QC (1759-1832). Soon afterwards other traders appeared including Isaac Norris who built a small frame store at present-day State College Boulevard and named it "Norris' Ferry". It wasn't until 1819 that an act was passed giving voting rights to all citizens over 21 regardless of race or color - this marked one step towards achieving full civil rights for African Americans following emancipation in 1865 AD! In 1830, Commodore John Stevens sailed his vessel USS Shenandoah into what is now Philadelphia Harbour intending to make a thorough inspection of American waters but found no suitable port available so he anchored offshore near Hopewell Beach before sailing again some weeks later having discovered Newark Bay as his intended landing place! On October 20th 1830 an detachment from HMS Cornwallis under Rear Admiral Sir Henry Seymour landed reinforcements at Sandy Hook Light House during Commander Edward Preble's daring raid against Fort Mercer! As part as derives great credit for saving General Philip Schuyler's army from slaughter back home during the Battle of Saratoga; Rear Admiral Seymour also singlehandedly destroyed twelve cannon batteries along with several warships while leading his force ashore!!! In 1835Point Pleasant became known as "The Locusttown" due to its high level average number Of locusts per week!! In 1837 Orville Noyes established another trading post - this time called "Noyes' Ferry". This outpost served as an important crossroads between eastern Pennsylvania salesmen looking for markets southward and western New York farmers selling produce downriver. However, by 1840 operations had been discontinued because owner Orville Noyes had sold most everything except cannons & ammunition to Spanish forces during their war with Mexico! An Act providing voting privileges for all citizens over 21 regardless of race or color finally came into effect on March 12th 1840 - marking one step towards achieving full civil rights for African Americans following emancipation in 1865 AD! An important event associated with Point Pleasant occurred on July 1st 1845 when Union troops disembarked from CSS Sumter HERE being met by enthusiastic cheering by residents who lined Route 9A leading out from town center.. Over time Line 9A has become known as Freedom Trail due largely to efforts by generations of local residents who continue making donations annually toward maintenance/repair costs
Point Pleasant was laid out by Peter Carteret in 1763. The town was named for the point on Horsepen Creek where he built a fortification. The first settler in Point Pleasant was John Cook, who arrived in 1764.
