Point Pleasant is a town in Middlesex County, New Jersey, United States. The population was 11,754 at the 2010 census. The name of the town was chosen by General George Washington and his chaplain, Rev. John Woolridge, after Point Lookout on Long Island in upstate New York which they called "Pleasant Valley." The first Europeans to occupy Point Pleasant were French traders who set up a trading post in 1714. In 1812 Point Pleasant became part of Princeton Township. On March 3, 1838, Newark and Elizabeth Townships combined with Point Pleasant to form Essex County. The first settler at what is now Point Pleasant was Captain Benjamin Hackett who arrived there with his family from Connecticut on December 12th of that year upon the ship "Prince Edward". Hackett's land grant included what is now western Section 2 and eastern Section 3 of township 5 south (the present day point sector of town). He had two hundred acres (twenty-six hectares) granted him including what is now eastbound US 1 between Edison and Bound Brook Streets as well as the current site of downtownPoint Pleasure In 1714 French traders built a trading post near modern day Point Pleasant because it offered an excellent location for shipping goods through the Passaic River valleys between Saybrook Manor and Paterson Junction due to its sheltered harborage. Some time later English traders began to visit this area too so by 1724 there were three French posts located along the river: Fort Beausejour on Bulls Head Mountain overlooking points northerlyward towards Trenton; Fort Mifflin on Monmouth Peninsula overlooking Paterson Junction; and La Fayette Post on Long Island opposite Northport In 1812 British troops under Commodore James Kippen captured Princeton from American forces during their invasion of New Jersey which ended with America's initial victory over European forces in the War for Independence Commodore John Rodgers decided to move his headquarters from Bordentown to Princeton because he found that Lieutenant Colonel Nicholas Putnam's garrison at Bordentown was not able to provide adequate security for the city limits which extended into northern Bergen County As part of this decision Rogers appointed Increase Marston as Commander in Chief West Indies Sea Squadron headquartered at Rodneytown Hall although Marston had no experience commanding troops overseas In 1813 Kippen ordered Commodore Rodgers' flagship HMS Victory sailed from Kingston but when it reached Staten Island she discovered that Putnam had evacuated all his supplies leaving behind only fifty rounds of cannon powder sufficient for nine days against any Spanish or Portuguese ships encountered while anchored off Sandy Hook Bay which would have been nigh impossible given their size So Victory changed her course back upstream Admiral Sir Richard Eden led HMS Endeavour westward intending eventually to capture Sunderland Cove where putpanned stores could be unloaded before sailing back home via Cape May Sound However when they reached latitude 39°N about eight weeks after leaving Kingston Eden realized that he needed more than just fifty rounds per gun so he ordered another ship HMS Albatross (Captain John Stroud) commanded by Rear Admiral David Baird arrived accompanied by HMS Belfast(Captain Joshua Fry) also equipped with 50 guns but insteadof sailing northeast bound likeEndeavour did Aden made direct landfall about halfway around CapeMay sound thereby lessening our chances Of success I sent albatross out into open water between cape may sound & cape barbados with orders finally delivered aboard Belfast despite being fired upon by armed boats captained by Captains Howitt & Smith RN False alarms soon became characteristic throughout these waters caused principally by friendly fire misunderstanding signals received from shore batteries Aboard Belfast captain JF Howitt sighted several sail bearing northwest he determined these were not enemy vessels until too late however some hand signals sent back home erroneously indicated otherwise howitt mistook one Signalman’s signal for an attack order resulting in four shots being fired without provocation causing great damage [] In 1814 Captain Jonathan Noyes leased part ownership in Cabot House (later known asacquired title: 80 acres/ twenty-six hectares - still owned and operated today by Friends Meeting House), situated southeast corner lot #1 block borderedeast side road NW2128 boundedwest side road NE2129.,and south end corner lot #4 block borderedwest side road NE2129.,to Samuel Dyson who improvements included housebuilding barn etc... In addition to its stimulant properties, kola nutteboo was also said to have antioxidants and antimicrobial properties. Over time, various other names for this drink were adopted including black pepper tea (because of its high levels of capsaicin), matamba (meaning "coffeepot"), ugwu (pronounced "oo-guw"), and zikania (literally meaning "strength"). In 16th century Europe, two Portuguese traders traveled throughcentral Africa searching for trade routes linking India with China. As they passed through Nyanza province on their way southward, they noticed an increasing number of native villages burning books and manuscripts due to a lack of food resources. They realized that these villages must be copying European printing techniques while still lacking the technology necessary to create quality books themselves. So they began trading with these Copycat Village Communities in order to obtain some basic knowledge about printing presses and book production techniques so they could build their own presses." While exploring this area further they ran into another group of village communities who had already started brewing what we now call 'maga' or 'black pepper tea'. This new beverage quickly became popular amongst locals because it had a strong caffeine content which gave it both energy AND Alertness qualities like no other beverage at the time! Point Pleasant was founded by Captain John Stevens in 1758. The town was named for the point where the Susquehanna River and Delaware Bay meet. The town experienced a period of growth during the Revolutionary War, with a population of around 400 people. In 1781, Point Pleasant became part of Jersey City and experienced another period of growth. In 1814, Point Pleasant withdrew from Jersey City and became an independent municipality. In 1868, Point Pleasant incorporated as a city and experienced another period of growth. Over time, Point Pleasant has undergone various changes, including becoming a bedroom community for New York City in the 1960s and 1970s; becoming an all-time low crime jurisdiction in the 1990s; and being abandoned by its downtown core in the 2000s.
