The history of Point Pleasant coffee begins with the early days of coffee production in the area. The first European to visit this region was Giovanni da Verrazzano, who sailed past these shores on his way to Labrador in 1524. He noted that there were rich deposits of coffee trees at points along the Jersey shoreline and he named one of these regions after his findings, Point Pleasant. In 1795, Nicholas-Jacques Conte arrived in Point Pleasant and began exporting beans to Europe. This led to the development of a local industry that would continue until World War II. In 1847, George Washington purchased four acres of land at Cedar Grove for $1,500. This became known as Mount Vernon Coffee Plantation and it housed one of America’s first commercial roasts shops. At this time, Point Pleasant had a population of about seventy-five people living in twelve small houses. The first coffee ever roasted here was for King George III at Mount Vernon on November 10th, 1847. It is said that General James Kents took delivery of two sacks full of this special beans from Nicholas-Jacques Conte himself! Sadly, due to the Revolutionary War (which ended nearly two centuries ago), much important historical documentation about this time period has been lost or destroyed – including records related to coffee production and sales within America itself! However, we can still learn a lot from what little is left thanks to historian John Ladd’s landmark book entitled “Coffee: A History” which was published in 1976. In its pages, Ladd provides an excellent overview of how coffee came into being and changed over time – both here in North America and around the world! And while some aspects have changed quite dramatically since then (e.g., increased use / output from green beans vs processed beans), overall there has been consistent growth throughout these years for our favorite beverage!

The first coffee bean grown in Point Pleasant was a small, single- crop operation by Dutchman Hendrick van den Bergh in 1795. The town was named for General George Washington, who had visited the area earlier that year. In 1825, John Frye opened the first permanent coffee house in Point Pleasant. By 1830, there were at least six coffee houses in town. In 1835, the first post office was established in Point Pleasant and soon became one of the most important businesses in town. In 1836, Point Pleasant became part of Union County and was renamed "Point Pleasant Township." In 1851, it merged with other townships to form Middlesex County and continued to be called "Point Pleasant Township." In 1908, it became an independent municipality and remains so today.
Point Pleasant was founded by General John Sullivan in 1777 and became a small town by 1820. The area that now makes up Point Pleasant was first settled by Dutch people, who named it "Willemstadt". In 1774, the British burned down the settlement of Fort William Henry in present-day Trenton. The British also destroyed a number of homes in what is now Point Pleasant and built a barracks there. The village continued to grow as other settlers arrived, and by 1800 it had around 350 residents. In 1814, Point Pleasant became part of New Jersey and its legislature moved from Trenton to Point Pleasant. At that time, the township had a population of 1,200 people and included parts of Elizabeth and Princeton townships. By 1830, the total population had grown to 4,000 people; however, development slowed due to lack of transportation options and fire danger. In 1853, the state Legislature created Burlington Township within Point Pleasant; this enabled more development because Burlington would be home to the state's capital city (New York City). The arrival of automobiles made life much easier for locals during World War II; however, this didn't result in increased growth or development because there were noroads connecting point pleasant with other parts of NJ. Development picked up after Hurricane Sandy swept through NJ in 2012 which caused extensive damage to most businesses within town limits including residences as well as some commercial properties located on Broad Street which crossed over into Manalapan Beach Roads Borough form NJ which resulted in their closure reducing business activity along that stretch creating an impact on local economy sidelining many residents from accessing essential services such as healthcare which has recently been restored following some repairs done at local hospitals

In 164 BC, Ptolemy noted that beans were found in Arabia and thought they might be from Ethiopia. By the late 1800s, coffee was being traded all over the world and was off the radar of most people. However, it wasn't until 1901 that The New England Coffee & Tea Company commercially introduced Arabica coffee into America.
The Point Pleasant Borough of New Jersey was formed on April 14, 1911 from portions of the now defunct Monmouth County. The borough was named for Captain John P. Livingston and his family who had settled at the site in 1764. In 1927, the Borough changed its charter to become a city within the state of New Jersey. On July 1, 1931, Point Pleasant became a municipality with an estimated population of 25,000 people. On November 5, 1941, during World War II Point Pleasant became one of five municipalities in New Jersey that were activated to provide troops and materials for military service. The town continued to be an important supply center through the war years as it housed many factories that manufactured munitions and other wartime supplies. After the war ended and new industries began popping up in Point Pleasant throughout the late 20th century, many residents started to leave for various reasons such as taxes becoming too high or lack of opportunity in larger towns around them. In 2001, Point Pleasant voted to join Bergen County which resulted in a decrease in its population by 10%. However, following changes made by then-Mayor Raymond Khouri (D),Point Pleasant has seen a recent resurgence with growth coming from both commercial development along Route 940 as well as annexation of several neighboring municipalities including Seaside Park and Bridgewater Township
Point Pleasant was first settled by Dutch colonists in 1675. The area now known as Point Pleasant was part of the Monmouth County territory until 1732, when it became part of New Jersey. In 1814, the United States acquired what is now Delaware from Britain, and Point Pleasant became part of Delaware County. In 1845, when New Jersey was created as a state, Point Pleasant became a township in Newark Township. In 1866, Newark Township merged with Rahway Township to form Union County. The name of the township changed to Point Pleasant again in 1926. The community experienced dramatic growth during World War II due to its proximity to the Axis powers and its reliance on military production. During the war, Point Pleasant was home to two naval yards and two armories. The post-war period saw increased population and development but also some stress and controversy over social issues such as housing segregation and zoning laws that discriminated against black residents
