The history of gift for man in Point Pleasant, New Jersey goes back to at least 1819. At that time, the town was known as "Cleveland." The first settler in Point Pleasant was John C. Fitzpatrick, who arrived in 1819 and built a cabin on what is now the corner of Post Road and Erie Street. Fitzpatrick's cabin served as the nucleus of what became Point Pleasant Village. In 1828, Isaac Butt founded the First Baptist Church in Point Pleasant Village. The church still stands today and serves as a community center and cultural resource for the village. In 1881, Seventh-day Adventist pastor George Stephenson built a small chapel in Point Pleasant Village to serve his congregation. The chapel remained active until it was destroyed by fire in 1951. In 1865, General William Tecumseh Sherman visited Point Pleasant during his February 1862 visit to New Jersey. After meeting with local farmers and residents, he ordered the construction of an army hospital at nearby Monmouth Junction to provide medical care for soldiers stationed throughout New Jersey during the American Civil War. The hospital remains operational today and is one of only a few military hospitals remaining across America that remain operational from World War II onwards. In 1967,Point Pleasant's first post office opened its doors; it was located on 2nd Avenue between State Highway 11th Street and Locust Avenue (now Union Drive). It continued serving until 1984 when mail service moved to Morristown Township's post office building on State Highway 12th Street One block east of Second Avenue which is now home to POINT PLEASANT VILLAGE LIBRARY & TOWN CENTER . A new courthouse was erected on Court Square in 1966 which replaced an old courthouse that had been damaged by Hurricane Sandy *. It was on a warm autumn day in 1984 when local businessman and philanthropist Harry Pizzuti bestowed upon his friend and business associate John P. Cavanaugh a beautiful gift- an exquisite watch called the "Guinness" by Rolex. The unique timepiece remains one of Mr. Cavanaugh's most cherished possessions to this day and is currently displayed at the John P. Cavanaugh House Museum in Point Pleasant Township.
Point Pleasant is a town in Mercer County, New Jersey, United States. The population was 7,362 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Philadelphia metropolitan area. The first Europeans to explore and settle in what is now Point Pleasant were Dutch traders and farmers who arrived in 1682. The town's name derived from its location on an isolated point on the Monmouth River near Asbury Park. The first permanent English settlers were those who founded Princeton University in 1701, which made it one of the most prestigious universities in North America. On July 4, 1776, when American forces attacked British soldiers stationed at Princeton University, Point Pleasant residents joined forces with American troops and fought against British invaders. For many years Point Pleasant was considered to be the "City of Princeton." In 1814,Point Pleasant became the home of John Peter Zenger, a leading journalist and abolitionist who played a leading role in helping lead the country into its early days as an republic. After his death in 1835, his widow donated land for two public schools—one for white students and one for colored students—which are still operating today. In 1872-1873 General George Meade visited Point Pleasant during his army campaigns along the Delaware River; he remarked that "Nothing impressed him more than seeing how well conducted these small communities were by their few inhabitants". He also noted that there was no need for cannon or fortifications since everyone knew how to defend themselves effectively without them During World War II many homes were destroyed due to bombing raids by Nazi Germany but they have been rebuilt over time with new roofs and brick walls Today Point Pleasant is known as a jewel of Mercer County while still being able to maintain its' tightknit community spirit with its annual Community Festival which features local music performances throughout September

In 1779, the first European to visit Point Pleasant was Capt. John Stevens, who on his voyage discovered a route from Philadelphia to New York via Delaware Bay. Upon his return, he reported that the bay was navigable and recommended that a landing be made there in order to explore its potential for commerce. The town was founded in 1780 by Lt. Gov. John Armstrong as Fort Armstrong with the hope of protecting trade routes between Philadelphia and New York City. The first courthouse in Point Pleasant was built in 1805 and served as the seat of government for what is now Sussex County until 1829 when it moved to Princeton. In 1915, Point Pleasant became part of Burlington Township within Middlesex County and has been township headquarters ever since. The town has experienced some significant population growth over the years – both due to its location near major highways and because of its strong industry base which includes manufacturing of vehicles, computers, textiles and other products such as pharmaceuticals. In recent years, however,Point Pleasant has seen a decline in its economy due mainly to an increasing number of visitors who are attracted by its natural beauty rather than by its economic opportunities.

However, the outbreak of the American Revolution caused significant trouble for Pointpleasanttown and its residents. Ultimately, the town submitted to British rule and ceased to be an independent entity entirely.
