In 1945, Coca Cola became the first corporate sponsor of American Hockey Association (AHA) ice hockey teams and also funded a new arena for the team called Cole Stadium which was completed in 1951. Plainfield is a town in Bergen County, New Jersey, United States. The population was 21,711 at the 2010 census. It is located on the southern edge of the New York metropolitan area and is part of the Newark–Jersey City Metropolitan Statistical Area. The earliest known record of what is now Plainfield dates back to 1666 when three settlers, John Philips, Nicholas Rodriguez and Peter Stuyvesant arrived from Manhattan with their families. They named their new settlement after nearby Plainbrook (now West Orange). The first post office opened in 1814. In 1847, the name was changed to Plainfield Township because it conflicted with an adjacent township called West Milford which had been established about that time by order of Governor Andrew Johnson. Beginning in 1868, Plainfield became part of Princeton Township when that township was created from portions of Hackensack andUniontown townships. In 1908, East Windsor Township was formed from parts of Plainsboro and Northvale townships as well as Plainfield Township and merged into Princeton Township. On March 15, 1984, South Brunswick Township was formed from parts of Uniontown and Stratford townships as well as plainfield municipal government while still remaining within Princeton Township; this merger also included those parts of South Brunswick which were not within Stratford or Uniontown municipalities but were annexed to them during 1984-1985 school year. Finally on November 5th 2006 all municipalities within Princeton Township were combined into one entity - plainFIELD municipality In 1916 Clear View Cemetery began moving bodies from Hillsborough Avenue Cemetery in Asbury Park due to overcrowding there which led to cemetery directors petitioning for a change in zoning so that they could build more graves without receiving approval from city officials; this request was granted permitting the construction of 174 gravesites north side Broad Street between Ridge Road and Valley Drive in what would become known as "Plainview Heights". Prior to its merge intoplainFIELD on November 5th 2006 residents voted through referendum approving annexation intoplainFIELD municipality The NJ Department Of Environmental Protection has said that since 2007 any homes built within 500 feet (150 m) of any water source are subject to EPA requirements for point pollution control systems such as gasfired economizers (pumpkins), hot water heating oil storage tanks or lead acid batteries On January 1st 2009 Mayor Bob Menendez announced plans for a new high school wing addition which will cost $27 million dollars and be funded by state/federal partnership with 30% federal funds being dedicated towards ligitiation program & 30% state funds being dedicated towards facility construction The project will include an I-PAD weight room capable of accommodating up to 2200 athletes & a full size gymnasium including coach’s lounges & locker rooms

Plainfield was founded in 1764 by Colonel John Moore and his wife on a farm that he bought from the Lenape. The town quickly became an important center for trade and industry, thanks to its location at the junction of several major highways. Over time, Plainfield developed into a thriving community with a strong cultural heritage. Today, the town is home to a variety of businesses and services, as well as many notable residents including Mayor Joe DiMaggio and Congressman Robert A. Wagner. Plainfield’s history began with the arrival of pioneers in 1764. Colonel John Moore had come out from England with his family to settle in what is now Plainfield Township. He purchased some land east of the Delaware River from the Lenape, who were then one of the most powerful Native American tribes in New Jersey. The Moore family soon built their home on what is now Main Street in what would become Plainfield. The townsite grew rapidly due to its key role as an economic engine during the early days of Pennsylvania County. In addition to its importance as a commercial center, Plainfield also served as an important transportation hub for goods heading northward through Pennsylvania and Delaware County into New Jerseyannually via bridges over the Susquehanna River and Broad Creek respectively. By 1820, however, Erie Canal had made commerce along these routes much more difficult; accordingly, only about half of what was once imported traffic passed through Plainfield before reaching Camden or Philadelphia.[1] Despite this hurdle,[2] PlainFIELD continued to prosper throughout most of the 19th century thanks largely to its strategic location along main roads connecting northeastern Pennsylvania with southeastern New Jersey and points beyond - making it one of America's most bustling crossroads during this time period![3] Among other things, this allowed Plainfield merchants such as Alexander Hamilton[4], James Kieft[5], Moses Brownell[6], George Washington Irving[7], William Pennsylvanian Joshua Barney[8]and othersto establish themselves among America's wealthiest families during this era! In 1866-67, however, things began to change when several large mills closed down within central PA counties due to competition from new industrializing states like Ohio & Michigan [9]. This led directly to increased unemployment within northeast PA communities such as Reading (then part ofPhiladelphia), Lebanon (now Allentown), West Caldwell (now East Brunswick) and even old timers like Johnstown (now Mount Holly).[10] As result, many people began leaving rural areas for larger cities such as Philadelphia or Newark amassing substantial fortunes by means other than agriculture! In response,[11],[12],[13],[14]}the government responded by providing incentives such as tax breaks and cheap land grants known collectively as "The Gadsden Purchase" which hastened rural exodus across state lines beginning in earnest! As steel production picked up throughout America during World War II,[15][16][17][18][19]; so too did demand for jobs within Northeast PA communities upon mobilization; leading many young men fresh off farmsteads into factories insteadof typical agricultural pursuits! With joblessness becoming increasingly rampant following war-time recession,[20]-enterprise flourished once again thanks largely theretofore unheard-of levels of immigration( predominantly Slovaks)[21]-leading eventuallyto today’s diverse economy that includes high tech companies., healthcare technology providers., garment manufacturers., software engineers., trucking firms., etc...!?
