Coffee gift history in Plainfield, New Jersey begins with Joe's Coffee in the early 1950s. The store was first opened by Joe and his wife Jeanne. In 1957, they started selling coffee beans direct to consumers. In the early 1960s, the family moved to Plainfield from Monmouth County and opened their second store on Broad Street. In 1969, they added a café and began serving espresso drinks. The café closed in 2001 but the beans continued to be sold until 2003 at which time they reopened as Joe's Coffee & Espresso Shop. From there, the business grew slowly but steadily until it became an independently owned and operated store in late 2016.
Plainfield, New Jersey is a city in Bergen County, New Jersey, United States. The population was 56,814 at the 2010 census. It is the smallest of the five municipalities in Bergen County and its population density is only . As of the 2010 Census, there were also no schools within its boundaries. Plainfield was first settled by Dutch colonists in 1666. The name " Plainfield" may derive from a Native American word meaning "flatland." In 1795, Plainfield Township was formed from parts of Bloomfield Township and East Orange Township. The city's first mayor was George Washington Appleton (1801-1806). He served as Mayor pro tempore of Bergen County during the first two years of John Adams' presidency (1797-1800). Appleton later became a U.S. Representative from New Jersey (2nd district) and helped impeach James K. Polk in 1849. In 1839, PlainFIELD Municipal Borough was created from portions of both Bloomfield Township and East Orange Township which had been annexed by that year to make up what would become Bergen County. At this time it had a population of 9 inhabitants and an area size of 3 square miles (7 square kilometers). On May 15th 1870, PlainFIELD Municipal Borough achieved township status with a population growth rate exceeding 1%. On July 1st 1880 it attained full municipal status when it passed an act incorporating as plainfieldsky municipality with limits on wards to be set forth therein without reference to either Bloomfield or East Orange Townships which had since been annexed into that year by Rahway Borough with barely over 1000 residents inside their borders – not even close to meeting the ward limit requirements laid down for boroughs going through similar process! The town's first mayor however resigned less than one month after taking office due to health problems including pneumonia brought on by living among so many people who were all farmers too! He & his wife Mary then moved into their home on Ridge Road until they could find another place to live….. but life continued more orLess like this for about 20 years as other townsfolk gradually build up around us until finally we exploded come 1970 when we amalgamated wit Rahway Borough

Plainfield, New Jersey is a town in Hunterdon County, New Jersey, United States. The population was 21,876 at the 2010 census. As of the 2000 census, it had 18,764 residents. Plainfield was founded in 1788 as a small village on the border of Dutch and English settlements and became an incorporated township in 1814. It obtained its present name from Plainfield Hill (a hill located in the town), which is still visible today from some parts of town. The first people to live here were Native Americans who hunted game near what is now Plainfield Hill. The first European settler arrived in 1788 when Anthony Wayne arrival from England with his family as part of the Purchase of North America by George Washington. He built a sawmill on the east side of what is now Delaware Avenue and named it Wayne's Mill after himself and his brother-in-law, Richard Stockton Sr., who had also come overland during that year's expedition led by Captain John Smith. In 1792, John Stevens moved his family to this location and started to farmstead around 1800 or 1802; he named his farmstead Stevens' Landing after himself and his son Nicholas Nicholas (nicknamed "Dutch" because he was born in Holland). In 1814 Township trustees voted to change its name to Plainsboro Township due to lack of any other townships within Hunterdon County that bore that name. Plainsboro Township then attained full incorporation as a municipality on April 14th 1865 under the name "Plainsboro Borough". On May 1st 1870 Census there were 24 males aged 25 years or older living in Plainsboro Borough with 5 females aged 15 years or older - all white business owners! This demonstrates how rapidly township boundaries changed throughout its history despite efforts by early elected officials to stayed similar! Over time Plainfield lost much manufacturing activity but kept some jobs for local farmers who grew many crops including milk products such as cream cheese and eggs for rural consumers; textiles like cotton candy/chocolate bars etc.; aluminum cans made here until about 1970; furniture including bed frames, tables etc.; lamps; air conditioners; clock radios etc.; while retail businesses gradually replaced these loses with more modern types such as convenience stores, restaurants etc., although small amounts of original brick buildings remain today (e.g.: Big Star Bakery) providing unique glimpses into township history not easily available elsewhere! As mentioned above most traditional commercial businesses closed down due eitherto economic conditions within our community or competition from larger municipalities nearby but some continue operation such as KFC which has been open since 1971 (!), Morrisons supermarket chain began selling meat here starting back in 1976 (!), Mount Holly Furniture opened up their doors circa 1984 (!), VFW Post #415 relocated here about 1992 (!) - just one example highlighting how even small changes can have lasting impacts on communities!
Plainfield was founded in 1755 by James Robertson and his family. The first post office opened in 1814. In 1836, the town incorporated and became part of Plainfield Township. Plainfield was named for a fertile plain near the community.
