The Air Corps sent a contingent of officers and enlisted men to barracks there, and Captain John Fenton organized a football game between the Air Corps' halftime team and local high school teams on October 17, 1942. Captain Fenton donated two squadrons of Curtiss P-40 Warhawk fighter planes to Plainfield Municipal Airport as part of the United StatesAAF's "Gift of Peace" program. These planes were used for aerial training by Colonel Harry Hinton's 1st Pursuit Squadron until 1945. In 1951, USAF Station Elmira gifted four Lockheed C-119 Flying Fortress aircraft to Plainfield Municipal Airport as part of their "Gift of Friendship" program. These planes served as transports for both USAF officers and their families during military exercises at Elmira AFB until they were retired in 1991. In 1957, IAF Base Shaheen Gift Shop offered customers the opportunity to purchase service medals from members or unit commanders assigned to duty at RAF Kinloss near Edinburgh, Scotland during Operation Overlord. This was followed by an Air Forces Museum gift shop which opened its doors in 1966 when First Lieutenant Brent Nussbaum donated his World War II Victory Medal collection from Headquarters 5th Bombardment Wing (later Ninth Air Force) at Seymour Johnson AFB south Carolina. The museum has since acquired additional World War II memorabilia from various units and installations around the world including Korea, Vietnam and Desert Storm. In 1988, USAF Station Elmira gifted three Boeing E-4B Skymaster jet trainers (E-3Bs) to Plainfield Municipal Airport as part of their "Gift of Friendship" program. These planes continued serving as aircraft training replacement pilots for both USAF officers and their families until they were retired in 1991. In recent years there have been growing concerns about China’s developing military capabilities within East Asia. As a result, calls for greater ties between our two militaries have increased. One way that we may be able to improve our relationship is through shared interests in common such as air defense systems or counterterrorism efforts. In May 2018 Congress passed a bill designed to strengthen Defense Cooperation Agreement (DCA) connectivity between our services by creating new Joint Task Forces (JTF). The JTF will focus on countering violent extremism and increasing interoperability between our forces across different regions inside China where there are links with Taiwan and Vietnam

Plainfield is a township in Middlesex County, New Jersey, United States. The population was 9,711 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Newark–Camden–Trenton metropolitan area. Plainfield was established by Captain George Washington and his second wife Mount Harrison in 1764 as a small farming community on the south edge of what is today Plainfield Township. The first store opened in 1765 and the first school in 1767. The township was named for Colonel Williamstown (later West Windsor) which lay to its east and postal ZIP Code 07961 served as its mailing address until 1974 when it became zip code 07885. The town center was built around a horse-drawn wagon road that connected Plainfield with Newton to the north and Elizabethtown to the south during most of Early America's history; however, this section has been largely destroyed by development over time. Today, one can still find remnants of these early transportation systems including an old roadhouse on Route 3 that still serves as a stoplight, older buildings used as apartments or businesses near Route 30A/Newton Avenue (now Old Bridge Road), two churches from 18th century times (Methodist Episcopal Church and Baptist Church), two cemeteries from 19th century times (Green Cemetery and Delaware Cemetery), three blocks ofiantrepreneurial retail space dating back to 1865 called "The Square" located at Meeting House Square off US Highway 1A/Route 3 junction, four-story brick factory built by John Atherton & Sons Tobacco Company in 1865 with original machinery still extant on top, several large manufacturing plants completed since then alldestroyed or converted into office buildings or condos - First Place Paper Products plant being one such example - Formerly known as "The Brick Factory", John Atherton's building now houses offices for NJ TRANSIT's Trenton line. In 1911 Plainfield had 2 post offices: Amboy Post Office (#1) on Main Street west of Center Court and #2 at High School on Northumberland Avenue east of Centre Court; both were closed when New Jersey consolidated its post offices under one roof in 1911. Amboy Post Office continued service until 1954 when it moved to Metuchen Station after former Metuchen Residents Defeated Plan To Have One Office There pastor James Ennis successfully campaign against consolidation referendum results that year having purchased Amboy property from Trustees Of Trenton Public Library who thought it would be more convenient for residents living close to their library instead of having to walk 10 miles each way - After years of advocacy by Ennis & his local church congregation members Churches reopened along with new names following HISD consolidation plan which eliminated Amboy's name but left behind blacksmith shop across street which continues serving locals today as "Ennis' forge". As per approvals granted by New Jersey State Board OF Elections upon reopening Historic Blacksmith Shop located adjacent South side Of High School [now University Avenue] will feature replica hand held tools used throughout history inside building along Withreni display case displaying historical artifacts from forge including pickaxes, hammers & chisels

Plainfield, New Jersey is a town in Passaic County, New Jersey, United States. The population was 23,898 at the 2010 census. The name of the town derives from what were once two villages in the area: Plainfield and Easton. In 1824, George Washington Irving founded West Orange, a township within Plainfield Township. However, when West Orange moved to Monmouth County in 1827 and Plainfield Township became part of that county seat designation (the same as Paramus), Plainfield had no borough status and its name did not appear on any maps until 1854 when it formally annexed into Paramus Borough. In 1874–75, three-quarters of the residents of Union City – which included Plainfield – signed a petition asking for incorporation into Paramus Borough because they felt their trade would be better served by being within one municipality rather than scattered among several. On December 6th of that year, with only 40 residents present for election due to weather conditions – including many who had already voted in Union City –Paramus Boroughs Ratified Constitution granted them borough status with full powers over all aspects of municipal government including taxation and budgeting; while still retaining their right to secede if they so chose. The original town hall building located at 209 Main Street still stands today and is used as the Regional Library System's library branch offices during peak hours (9am-5pm). The building also features an exhibit honoring local history called "From Village to Borough: A History of Plainfield Township" which opened on November 16th of this year. As more people started moving into Plainfields throughout the 20th century densities began to increase until current rates can be found in some areas up to 350 people per square mile! As time passed there have been various annexation requests made but none have ever been accepted due largely to zoning regulations which are often stricter then necessary or appropriate for a suburban community such as ours; though we continue make attempts through our planning board meetings/comments submitted through petitions etc.; however sometimes these efforts fall on deaf ears as well! When I first moved here almost 10 years ago it was just off Route 9NJ between Newark Liberty International Airport and Mahwah Junction I thought it was kindof weird that there wasn't any real industry or anything going on outside those two towns lol now I realize how much things have changed & how great my community has become!
The Plainfield borough was founded in 1764 by the merger of two other villages, West Plainfield and East Plainfield. The original settlers were Dutch, but when the British invaded New Netherland in 1674, they replaced the Dutch with Englishmen. The English changed the name of the town to Plainfield in honor of Delaware's Colony of Philadelphia, which had just been renamed Philadelphia after being taken over by England. The first post office was established in 1765. The early years of Plainfield were difficult as it was located on a frontier where there was no real trade or commerce. However, through hard work and persistence, the town quickly grew into one of New Jersey's most important communities. In 1814, Plainfield became part ofthe new county of Middlesex and experienced its heyday as an industrial center due to its importance as a transportation hub for goods coming downriver from Pennsylvania and Virginia. Over time, however, economic competition from neighboring municipalities lead to some reductions in employment at local businesses and a decline in population growth; this contributed to the problems that have plagued Plainfield throughout its history.
