The United States Air Force has a long and proud history of giving back to the community. In addition to serving as an active military base throughout World War II, Wright- Patterson also hosted key research and development projects related to jet aviation that led to today’s jets being fielded by all27 countries in NATO! After hostilities Ended Germanys main effort against America ended with their surrender on May 8th 1945RAMSTEIN AIR FORCE BASE WAS TRANSFERRED TO THE UNITED STATES AIR FORCE ON JUNE 2ND 1948 UNDER THE ACT OF CONGRESS 69TH GENERAL ASSEMBLY Entitled “Airlift Center Plan No 1″ This program called for establishment of civilian airports adjacent or near underground transportation systems so strategic bombing could be directed against targets deep inside Europe without having recourse to primary fighter bases which would become vulnerable To attack when supply lines were cut By this plan three new airports were designated: Hahnemühlen Airport (Heidelberg), Erfurt Airport (Erfurt), Andechau Airport (Nürnberg). Pine Hill is a small town in Hunterdon County, New Jersey, United States. The population was 2,699 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Newark–Trenton, NJ-NJ Metropolitan Statistical Area. Pine Hill was first settled in 1714 by English colonists as "Haughton". In 1826, it became part of the Township of Northumberland and was renamed to Pine Hill after pine trees found near Haughton. After Gloucester County formed in 1868 and Northumberland Township was dissolved, Pine Hill became a part of Hunterdon County. The village situated on the north side of Lake Monmouth had a post office from 1832 to 1865 and from 1889 to 1912. During World War II, Pine Hill played an important role in providing military supplies for both America's allies and its Axis opponents. The town also underwent significant physical transformation during this time as many homes were replaced with wartime barracks or other military facilities.
