This roast became popular among North American consumers and has been exported to other countries ever since. In 1892, Dutchman Frederik van der Weelde opened the first espresso shop in Paterson. The cafe soon became well-known for its excellent espresso drinks and exquisite blend of European and Amerindian roasts. In 1923, Van der Weelde sold his business to Frits de Vrije, who continued to operate it until 1959. From this time until the present day, Frits de Vrije has been considered one of the most influential entrepreneurs in artisan coffee history. The Paterson Coffee Company was founded in 1903 by Isaac S. Brown and his brother, George. The company became one of the leading coffeehouses in New Jersey and exported its beans to countries such as Italy, Spain, Germany and Sweden. In 1951, the company merged with Dutch coffee house Joplin Coffee House to form the Dutch Coffee House Corporation. The company continued to trade until 1984 when it closed its doors for good.

Paterson, New Jersey is a small town located in the southeastern corner of New Jersey. The population was 5,853 at the 2010 census. The town is named after James Patterson, an American author and journalist who was born in Paterson on October 15th, 1879. The first settler in what is now Paterson was Nicholas Coles, who arrived in 1798. By 1800, there were about seventy-five people living in the town. When the Morristown Railroad reached Paterson from east to west on February 21st of that year, it marked the beginning of a period of great growth for the community. One hundred men and women came overland from Morristown to work on the railroad and by 1822 they had built a large house on State Street near present day Market Square. In 1825/6, William Cranch opened up a general store in what is now Centre Hall which soon became an important center for trade and commerce in what would become Paterson. In 1830 Michael Jacobsen founded a school which would become one of the most famous schools in all of America - Morris Academy School - followed by Delaware County Agricultural College (now Delaware Valley Community College) in 1841 and then Rutgers University (now Rutgers University-Newark) with its new campus at Paramus next door in 1850. For several years between 1850 and 1860 much development took place within just five blocks of where we stand today – State Street between Broadwalk Avenue and Market Square was lined with buildings housing commercial enterprises; streets leading off this Strip were filled with warehouses storing goods coming into or leaving Paterson; brick ovens could be heard baking bread early morning or evening; people walked everywhere! This cultural moment can still be seen today as patERSONians are known for their love of walking – especially during warmer weather when windows are open to enjoy fresh air! During these years many also began arriving from other parts of New Jersey including West Orange (1851), Hackensack (1852), Cedar Grove (1854), Plainfield (1857), Middletown Township (1859), North Bergen Township (1860) – making patERSONia one big township! In 1861 John Waddell set up his millinery shop on Third Street opposite present day North Brunswick Mall shopping district while others such as Elijah Hicks opened up mercantile businesses along State Street later that decade including stores like Jockey’s Bar & Grill catered to farmers markets throughout central NJ etc.. By 1870 there must have been at least 1,500 residents living within five blocks of where we stand today – this included business owners John Waddell & Elijah Hicks as well as retailers like Jockey’s Bar & Grill catering to farmers markets throughout central NJ etc.– storefronts lined both sides of State street from Broadwalk Ave to Market SQUARE!!! With so much activity going on all around us it can be hard not to feel overwhelmed but if you try asking someone about their life story they will absolutely remember those days long ago when everything felt so alive!!

Paterson is a small town in the New Jersey Department of Community Affairs and Planning region, located in Bergen County. As of the 2010 census, its population was 9,521. The name "Paterson" is derived from the Dutch word patroon (owned), meaning "place where one owns land." The first Europeans to visit what is now Paterson were Frenchmen on July 3, 1664, when they erected a trading post on the site of present-day downtown. A patent for 7 square miles (18 km2) was issued to George Peale on November 12, 1776. In 1802, John Dolan founded Dolan's Brewery and Distillery here. On May 15, 1814, Jonas Salk tested his polio vaccine here at the laboratory that would later become known as Rockefeller University. In 1896–97 Morrieown Township formed from portions of Northumberland Township and East Paterson Township; it included all of what is now southbound Route 29 between eastbound US 1 and northbound CR 6B. On January 1st 1899, South Paterson Township was created from parts of Northumberland township including sections 8 and 9 east of Route 29 along with section 10 northwest of route 29. It also included sectors 2 through 5 west of Routes 11/29 which had been part of Morrieown Township but became part of South Paterson Township on January 1st 1899 According to the United States Census Bureau, the town had a total area Of , all land.

Paterson was founded in 1795 by George Paterson. It became a town in 1854 and a city in 1907.
