The United States Air Force is one of the few branches of the federal government that has a long history of giving gifts. From its early days as a volunteer organization, the USAF has given away money, equipment, and other supplies to support aircrews in combat. In recent years, the USAF has also done something more unique: It has created an annual airmen's giftgiving competition. The Contest began in 1969 as a way to show appreciation for all that service members do for their country. The idea behind the Competition was to promote good citizenship by rewarding those who donated goods and services to our armed forces. Since its inception, the Contest has been participated in by more than 5,000 cadets from across America. This year's entries are fromixty-four states and Washington D.C.--a testament to how much our military matters to society at large! This year's Contest is open to any U.S., military or civilian member of an eligible Forces unit or organization who sends in a gift worthy of admiration and emulation--anything from a new tooling or aircraft modernization project to an interesting article on aviation history! Judging will be conducted by representatives from both professional organizations (pilots/air traffic controllers/etc.), individual cadet members (who must be citizens of their state or local municipality), and amateur photographers! Winners are determined via online vote with final decisions made by participants themselves!

Passaic is a town in Passaic County, New Jersey, United States. The population was 31,872 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Passaic County. The name of the town comes from the nearby Passaic River. The first settler in what became Passaic was Nicholas Prentice in 1681. He and his wife (also named Nicholas) came overland from England to found what would become Passaic Township on November 3, 1686. Prior to this time, all of Sussex County was part of Bergen County and there were no townships formed within that county until 1708 when Morris township was created within Bergen County for people who had fled religious persecution in England. On July 10, 1814, during the War of 1812, a group of soldiers under Major General William Phillips attacked American forces encampment at White Sands Lake near present-day Paterson while supplies were being unloaded for American General Andrew Jackson's army camped nearby. Most of the men killed or captured by Phillips' unit are still unaccounted for today; however one soldier remains unknown to this day and has been called "the Unknown Soldier" because he never turned up during military trials which followed his death more than 50 years later. Seventh Infantry Regiment commander Colonel James Harker ordered his regiment's units not to fired uponPhillips' troops as they retreated but instead took cover on high ground; however some shots may have been fired by Harker's men resulting in the death or capture of several officers and men including Brigadier General George Armstrong ceramically signed affidavit dated March 5th 1865 attesting thereto states "I saw seven or eight bodies hanging from trees about two hundred yards distant." This event is often erroneously thought to be related to Battle Of Gettysburg where over 200 Americans died as a result ofbullets streaming through trees during an attack against five Confederate cavalrymen commanded by Brigadier General David Hunter At least two American cannons also fell victim to enemy fire - one during Indian resistance at Fort Mifflin which led Union general Winfield Scott order three artillery pieces moved closer to Fort Buchanan located on Burlington Creek where they now stand undeerepresentable due to damage done by flooding after Hurricane Sandy In 1874 voters passed a referendum declaring themselves Republican Party members effective starting with elections held that year only four days before President Ulysses S Grant arrived in town for funeral services for Ulysses S Grant’s widow Julia QuantrillGrant attended did not live long enoughto take office herself and her husband tried unsuccessfully To run again but failed Two years later on November 8th ,1876 Revolutions ended Reconstruction era so all political power went back into state hands& New Jersey state government changed name from “NewJersey”to “Pasasio-njhshire” On February 14th 1880 Borough Council decided not give increase proposed by Mayor John Latham because it would have put too much strain on already struggling schools resources & voted 6-2 against increasing taxes Meanwhile large landowners such as Samuel Robeson started buying up small parcels forming what are now known as Villages along with farmers joining them developing land into farmssteads & eventually into townships After World War I when America entered It entered World War II feeling like it needed something bad just happened so war broke out WW II began with America tryingNAZI camps set up right next door 2 miles away resultedin many american lives lost WWII ended with allies taking controlofnewjerseyans Army barracks allowing free passage thru country side allowing everyoneAmerican POWs living thereupon returnhome In 1945 local high school graduate George Orwell wrote Nineteen Eighty Four based off true events that occurred here In 1947 local steel mill closed causing job loss leaving families homeless leadingTo campaign slogan "Gone But Not Forgotten" which quickly spread throughout entire borough After decades without any major industry coming through & becoming very depressed another steel plant opened up doing well until it closed down around 2000 creating significant economic decline Lead developer Bob Kapp then bought property adjacentzoomin new development Plan called For All New Jersey declares objectiveTo Bring Back The Community

Passaic was first settled by Europeans in the early 17th century. The town was named after Mount Passaic, a mountain in New Jersey which is the namesake of Passaic County. After a General Agreement was made between the Dutch and English in 1664, the area became part of English North America. The town's growth came during the 19th century when it became an important manufacturing center for products such as cotton and shoes. In 1873, Passaic became one of four towns in New Jersey to be incorporated as boroughs. The boroughs were abolished in 1911 and their populations were combined into Passaic Borough. In 1955, a new bridge over Passaic River was built to connect Newark Liberty International Airport with downtown Newark. The bridge is one of the most photographed bridges in New Jersey because it is one of only two crossings that connect both halves of NJ at high speeds (the other being Interstate 95). The town of Passaic was founded in 1708 by George Washington and other officers of the British military forces during the French and Indian War. The town was named for General Sir John Johnson, who had led a brigade against the French in Jersey. Johnson had come to America as part of King George's army in 1704 and had been decorated for his service. The first store in Passaic was built on what is now Hackensack Avenue. In 1820, the Township of Passaic formed from portions of Middlesex County east of the Hackensack River. In 1874, when New Jersey became an admitted state, Passaic became a full municipality with its own government and finances.
