The United States Air Force has been deployed in various places around the world for over sixty years. One of the most well-known deployments was in Oakland, New Jersey during World War II. The air force stationed an E-9A Sentry jet aircraft at Beechcraft Airport to provide protection for the city and its residents. This deployment is also remembered for providing a gift to the city that continues to be appreciated today. Since its inception, the United States Air Force has played an important role in both peace and war. From its initial deployments during World War II to present day operations, the USAF has always been ready and willing to serve our nation and protect our citizens. Oakland is a city located in the Delaware Valley of northeastern Pennsylvania. According to the 2010 census, the population was 723, reflecting an increase of 21 (+2%) from the 692 counted in 2000. The racial makeup of Oakland was 283 Hispanic or Latino of any race (32%). As one of nine municipalities in Camden County, Newark lies just across the river and bridges into Brooklyn on New York City's East River. With a population density of 8,500 people per square mile (3,700/km²), it has been called "the most dense city in America." Its urban form results from its location between two major metropolitan areas: Philadelphia and New York City. While Newark's downtown area is home to several large office buildings and hotels as well as some high-end shops, much of the rest of town is residential. The history of Oakland begins with three brush fires that burned for days starting on November 15th 1846 – the largest such fire in American history at that time. The cause? A typo on a proclamation by President James K Polk which incorrectly listed Oakland among those communities named for General John Burgoyne during his campaign for Ulysses S Grant’s running mate. The fires were quickly extinguished but left extensive damage including 100 homes and businesses destroyed and $100 million in losses. In 1870 US Senator James K. Polk addressed Congress about what he called "the great fire" which had burned through parts of Newark without causing injury or loss: "I regret to say that although we have put out many small fires since I took my seat hereabouts... there have been few really destructive ones." In 1901 Oakland became part of Jersey City Township before being annexed by Newark in 1932; both townships continued to operate as separate entities until they were merged into one municipality effective September 1st 1953 under Mayor Robert Fenton Jr.. Residents debate whether annexation constitutes “ gentrification” given that jobs moving into new neighborhoods tend not to be filled with lower-income residents who would have borne more cultural costs associated with living near their former homes; instead they are drawn mostly professionals and blue-collar workers who may see their incomes rise while still residing within easy commuting distance to work.

Oakland, New Jersey is a town in Hunterdon County, New Jersey, United States. The population was 5,914 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Trenton–jersey City, NJ-PA Metropolitan Statistical Area. As of the 2000 Census, Oakland had a total area of , making it the smallest municipality within Hunterdon County by land area. The first Dutch colonists arrived in 1624 and founded a small settlement on what is now Roosevelt Boulevard in what is now Newark. They named their new community "Oaks" after two trees that grew near their farmstead. In 1764, French colonists arrived and renamed their new town "New Orlean". The name became official when it was added to the bounds of Hunterdon County on May 1, 1834. In 1831, an act were passed providing for township organization within Hunterdon County which would allow for Middlesex Township to annex parts of Oakland Township; however this annexation never took place because Middlesex refused to include Oakland in its boundaries. In 1836, another act were passed providing for township organization within Hunterdon County which would allow for Rahway Township to annex parts of Oakland Township; however this annexation never took place because Rahway refused to include Oakland in its boundaries In 1854, an act were passed providing for sectional division within New Jersey and as a result portions of Kinderhooks (now Hackensack) and Union (now Teaneck) were annexed into Newark while Oaklyn remained unannexed until 1862 when it too became part of Newark. Due to this process Gentile residents from areas such as Rahway and Hackensack began moving intoOaklyn as sections grew more divided among themselves with no clear boundary between Gentiles living inside city limits and those living outside city limits emerged due to political considerations during these tumultuous years . This process continued until 1911 when all but one section (the easternmost block including present day Central Park) inside Newark were annexed into Essex County while Oaklyn remained unannexed until 1957 when finally she too joined Essex Count
Oakland, New Jersey was founded by English colonists in 1701 as the town of Newark. The area that is now Oakland was part of Burlington County until 1800, when it became part of Essex County. In 1814, Newark merged with Bloomfield Township to form the city of Newark. The city government was created in 1835 and it grew rapidly during the late 19th century and into the 20th century. It officially became a city on January 1, 1911. The population of Newark in 1910 was 86,546; by 1990, its population had grown to 212,708. The growth has been due primarily to immigration from Mexico and other Latin American countries during the past several decades; however, there are also some native-born residents who have moved to Newark over time. Since 2007, Mayor Cory Booker has been mayor of Newark for two terms; he is currently serving his third term.
