The United States Air Force deployed gift history to New Brunswick, New Jersey in 1941. The air force stationed the Gift History Museum of New Brunswick at Wright-Patterson AFB from 1941-1945. The museum was dedicated to the exploring and display of USAF gift history from World War II through the Cold War. The Museum was opened on October 10th, 1941 by Lt. Col. J.M. Shaffer, Commander USAFGiftHistory Museum of New Brunswick (now known as Wright-Patterson AFB Museum). The museum contained a collection of over 1,500 items from the USAF gift history program during World War II and the Cold War era. During the early years of Operation Tailwind, which focused on exchanging war surplus equipment with allies, many requests for donations were received from local communities in Northeast America. In addition to military equipment donations, locals also requested items such as kitchen appliances and dining room sets that could not be found locally or were too expensive to acquire domestically. On September 5th, 1942 an agreement was reached between USAAF Headquarters and RAF [Royal Air Force] in London that exchanged gifts between both organizations including aircrafts, tools and furnishings. With this exchange UK Commonwealth Air Forces flew more than 2 million passengers utilizing American made planes alone! Transporting goods crossAtlantic became much easier after this deal happened; it removed any possibility for enemy bombers to damage vital strategic targets in North America without causing significant casualties or damage.< ref /> In 1944 Allied forces began their assault on Germany; airfields across Europe had been seized and turned into concentration camps where thousands of civilians died due to disease or exposure. Many RAF personnel who helped carry out Operation Market Garden came home with memories of giving away paintings, statues or other art pieces as presents to homesick families back home. After liberation these same individuals traveled back east where they donated their belongings < ref /> earthenware dishesuntil their death in recent decades Although post-war restrictions placed limitations on how much information can be revealed about USAF gift history museums around the world today - knowledge gleaned through online searches has allowed researchers to piece together a comprehensive timeline which spans nearly 50 years! This paper will focus specifically on Gift History Museum Unit #2 at Wright-Patterson AFB – located within Joint Base McGuire–Dix–Lakehurst—which operated from 1941 until 1945 inclusive! It will explore artifacts housed within our unit’s archives dating back to World War II up until 1949 when our museum closed its doors following the end of hostilities worldwide! This is an important milestone as it allows us insight into how gift history evolved during a time when declassification laws limited sharing information about certain programs and objects
