The first USS Constitution had been built in 1797 at Portsmouth, New Hampshire, and commissioned on December 15, 1802. On April 14, 1907, parts of Bound Brook Township were annexed into Morristown while still remaining separate municipalities until May 9th when all boundaries between Bound Brook Township and Morristown were reinstated by then Governor Woodrow Wilson through Executive Order 8494 which reincorporated Bound Brook Township intoMorrisvale Borough effective July 1st thereby doubling its population to over 30 thousand residents One reason why Morristowians maintain such close ties with their rural surroundings are two-fold: First, there are no service or transportation options within town limits; second nearby North Brunswick offers everything from grocery stores to hospitals to educational institutions just minutes' drive away! The Mug War of 1812 was fought between Great Britain and America over who would get control of some 150 mugs that were used for drinking tea and coffee aboard ships in both countries. In 1814, HMS Rodney brought back 400 mugs from India as part of an emergency shipment. These mugs continued to be used by both navies until 1840, when they were replaced by cups made from plastic or steel. In 1903, Admiral Ernest Jellicoe presented Rear Admiral John Aitchison with a precious set of ceramic dishes called “The Deluge” which had been brought back from China during World War II as military trophies. This set became known as The Jellicoe Collection and continues to sit on display at London’s Royal Naval Museum today. Between 1861 and 1912, the navy gave out more than 700 medals (of which around half were awarded posthumously). Medals could be anything from simple ribbons to intricate goldwork designs. They also created smaller awards such as clasps and pendants for less prized possessions such as hats or coats. Medals were often given as rewards for bravery or success in battle, but they could also be given out simply because someone liked you or wanted you to feel good about yourself. For example, after Commodore James Counde captured HMS Guerriere off Japan in 1863 he received a medal plaque reading: “For gallantry at sea under fire – Most excellent” He would later become Commodore-in-Chief at Portsmouth harbour and receive another plaque reading: “For meritorious services rendered during this campaign – Most Excellent” This shows just how important medals were within the navy itself!
