The United States Air Force has been providing service to our country since World War II. During that time, the USAF has grown in size and complexity, with a variety of different aircraft and support systems. Today, the USAF employs over 350,000 people across 50 states and Washington D.C., making it one of America’s largest military services. Air force gift history in Madison begins with the establishment of the USAF in 1947. At that time, the USAAF consisted of just 10 airplanes and was only responsible for air defense operations within New Jersey and Pennsylvania. The first major purchase by the USAF was an F-86E Sabre jet fighter from Lockheed Aircraft Corporation in 1951. The F-86E would go on to become one of America’s most popular aircraft, serving in numerous campaigns including Operation Overlord during World War II and Operation Hastings during the Vietnam War. In 1969, Congress passed legislation authorizing appropriations for Air Force purchasing programs totaling $4 billion over five years (FY70-74). This authorization set into motion what is known as The Pentagon Papers controversy which intensified after 1975 when USAFE began secretly procureering items from Soviet Union under then President Richard Nixon’s “madman theory” that any such purchases were necessary to improve American security at home against potential aggression from abroad. Despite strong protests by Democratic senators such as Ted Kennedy, USAFE proceeded with these secret purchases until 1976 when John Tower became president and ended their program entirely due to concerns about possible Russian espionage capabilities inside America itself. Today, it is one of the largest air forces in the world with a global presence and responsibilities spanning multiple domains including munitions delivery, strategic deterrence, disaster management, health care provision and research and development. The USAF provides aerial support for land-based operations such as Operation Allied Force; leads NATO airstrikes against targets in Libya; conducts surveillance missions over Iraq and Afghanistan; responds to natural disasters such as hurricanes Katrina and Sandy; fights terror pursuant to both law enforcement mission creep (e.g., counterterrorism); manages nuclear weapons under Comprehensive Test Ban Treaty…and more! The organization’s reach goes beyond our borders with numerous partnerships around the world that contribute to US national security interests: Multilateral Arms Control Agreements (MACA), Counterterrorism Partnership Agreement (CTPA), International Security Assistance Compact (ISAC), Paris Agreement Implementation Mechanism Agreement (PAMA). In Fiscal Year 2017 alone, DoD operating budget amounted to $548 billion which supports almost 1 million active duty members worldwide while also supporting 2 million civilians through DoD funded agencies/programs/offices across all 50 stateside armed services plus Puerto Rico & Guam….the USAF has “the broadest [operational] area of any American military force”[1]. The origins of the USAF are tied directly to World War II when President Franklin D Roosevelt called for a new air arm specifically to fight Nazi Germany because “the bomber will be decisive upon victory or defeat”[2]. On October 17th 1944 President Roosevelt ordered General Curtis LeMayCommanding General Headquarters Eighth Air Force – activated at Beech Grove Field Michigan – to plan Operation Crossroads which would lead up to Day Zero – Bloody Sunday when Bomber Command raided Dresden Airport[3]. With less than two months notice all combat aircraft were diverted from Europe into America[4]. By 1945 America had become an superpower with bombers flying missions from bases all over the world delivering supplies and troops back home–a capability not possible before war started. As part of this effort Bomber Command became known as “The Flying Fortress Armada”[5]. In total 439 different RAF squadrons were attached direct or indirectly to American bomber groups during war years making them “one of history”s most integrated multi-service arms societies[6] One example issembling 85 Lancaster bombers from 8 Group based at Tiburon Island California escorted by P-47 Thunderbolt fighters sent down from England wasOperation Neptune’s Spear–the first daylight attack against a city in Germany since WWI[7][8]. More importantly these detachments allowed commanders in each theater freedom not only operate their planes but also transferred officers between theaters ensuring continuity of command even during times Oftotalwarfare [9][10]). This typeOfcommandership allows for Oragnization Plans To Be Made lucidly Prior To Operations And Allows For Easier Coordination Of Resources When Necessary Which Was Often Appreciated By Leaders At All Levels When Deployed Into Conflicts

Madison is a town in Hunterdon County, New Jersey, United States. The population was 9,827 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Philadelphia metropolitan area. The first European to visit Madison was Giovanni da Verrazzano in 1524. In 1764, John Armstrong founded aide-de-camp to George Washington at Madison Station on the Susquehanna River and served as aide-de-camp until his death in 1785. In 1814, James Kapp built an inn and tavern on Main Street which became known as "Casa Kapp" after him. After Kapp's death in 1822, the Tavern was taken over by Nicholas Weems who ran it until his death in 1831; then by Moses Levy who continued it until 1861 when it passed into private hands again. In 1872–73, pursuant to an act of the New Jersey Legislature entitled "An Act for Amending and Regulating certain Laws Relative tothe Regulation of Innkeepers", village trustees took over management of Casa Kapp from Weems' widow and began regular auctions for licenses to operate restaurants and other businesses within the limits of Madison Township (now Hunterdon County). With this new administration under way,Casa Kap began serving as a popular tourist spot with locals and visitors alike from throughout Hunterdon County enjoying its breakfast pastries, dinners, wines & beers while touring one or more of its many attractions: The Old Jail where prisoners were locked up before their trials; The Museum open during daylight hours only; The Market Square - home of many local farmers' markets each summer; The Walker House - once a large lumber mill that now houses several small businesses including a beauty salon and hair dresser; And finally...The Riverside Park - which offers views of Philadelphia skyline from all sides! After years filled with growth and development (most notably with the advent of Interstate 95),Casa Kapp closed its doors for good on September 25th 2006 due to financial difficulties brought on by economic recession combined with increasing competition from newer restaurant/bars/cafés across Greater Philadelphia! Flight Lieutenant (later General) Maurice J. Dunphy, USAF (Ret) served as the Commanding Officer of United States Air Forces in Europe from 1951 to 1955 and Deputy Commander, Northwest European Air Task Force during that time. In 1954 he was named Assistant Chief of Staff, Headquarters USAF. From 1957 until his retirement from the military in 1969 he was Director of Intelligence for the Air National Guard Bureau. In 1949 Donahue offered Lt. Dunphy command of a Boeing 707 donated by Boeing Aircraft Company to the USAF while it was being developed at Seattle's CenturyLink Park Airport. That same year, U S Airways donated an Airbus A-4 jet trainer to be used by USAF Central Command in South Korea as part of Operation Demilitarized Zone. The Lockheed C-130 HerculesAirbus A-10 Thunderbolt II became available for use with U S Marine Corps forces in Vietnam after Tactical Air Command received its first set of McDonnell Douglas MiG-15s on July 1, 1966 replacing the earlier Republic F-86 Sabre jets flown by Marine Fighter Squadron VMF(I)/1 and Marine Fighter Attack Squadron VFA(N)-3 which had been grounded due to lack of parts availability after their conversion from obsolete World War II era fighters. From 1970 until his retirement from service on October 15th, 1980 Lt.-Gen Dunphy served as Deputy Commander - Pacific Air Forces when that theater was activated following the resignation of Admiral Thomas Moorer effective September 30th, 1979; this followed changes within Pacific Regional Command resulting in much shuffling within USAFE as well as Army Aviation elements newly activated within USAFE both under President Jimmy Carter but also absorbed into Headquarters USAAF effective February 15thSUCCESSIVE TO THE ACTING CHIEF OF STAFF'S DECISION ON MARCH 3RD1979 TO TRANSFER ALL AIR FORCE WIDE HQ STRATEGIC OPERATIONS FROM PACIFIC REGIONAL COMMAND TO HEADQUARTERS AFGHANISTAN AIR FORCE WITH OPERATIONS IN PEMBAHU AND BALAIMA SUBTOTALS UNDER THE new commander general John Hynes who had come aboard from Far East air force headquarters where he had been Acting Deputy Director for Plans and Policy since late 1978; On October 15th1980 Maj.-Gen Dunphy retired with full honors becoming a Brigadier General retiring at Elmendorf AFB Alaskawherehe remained until his death on December 13th1994
