Little Ferry, New Jersey is a town in Hunterdon County, New Jersey, United States. The population was 3,813 at the 2010 census. The name of the town came from its location on the Hackensack River and on high ground near what is now Monmouth Junction. The first coffeehouses in Little Ferry were established by Nicholas Biddle in 1792 and continued to be open until 1852. By 1854, over 25 coffeehouses had been established in the town including 12 owned by Nicholas' son John Biddle. In 1858, a group of Dutchmen organized a co-operative grocery store and bakery called "Joplin's" which became one of the most successful German businesses in America. The business prospered through World War II but closed after the war when American troops moved into the area; Joplin's assets were sold to another grocer named Skolnick who reopened it as a small grocery store known as "Skolnick's". In 1957, Don Starzl purchased Joplin's assets with intentions of restoring it to its original form as an upscale coffeehouse/bakery that would serve generations of Little Ferry residents like himself. Starzl quickly realized that he needed help and began working with local businessmen such as Sonny Cooley to get support for his project from both government officials and business leaders alike. With Skolnick's help they rebuilt Joplin's into one of Little Ferry's most popular tourist attractions with multiple floors full of delicious food options including severalourmet cafes and restaurants occupying separate levels within the building along with an extensive gift shop complete with unique items only found at Joplin’s. Today, Little Ferry boasts one of NJ’s most impressive coffee history collections with over 150 different types of beans roasted here over many years including some rare species never before tasted in this country or even internationally! These days you can enjoy fresh brewed java straight out your doorstep or indulge yourself in something more exotic like Ethiopian waffa cake or Malaysian longanisa! Not to mention there are several dozen small grocers located throughout town providing all your caffeine cravings without leaving your PJs!

The first coffeehouses in the area were opened by Dutch immigrants in the late 17th century. The first coffee was roasted on a small farm nearpresent-day Little Ferry. In 1802, traders and residents of New Brunswick founded the Rutgers University School of Coffee and Tea, which became known as Newark's largest coffee house. In 1835, an Italian immigrant named Luigi Colonna opened a roastery and café at Fourth and Market Streets in what is now called Chinatown. This was followed by Italian businesses along Third Street between Clinton Avenue and Park Row in 1847. During prohibition, Newark's main thoroughfare, Broad Street was renamed "Coffee Avenue" in order to avoid association with drinking habits associated with prohibitionists. As business districts evolved during the 20th century, different streets were designated as "Coffee Streets" for various reasons including proximity to cafes or other commercial establishments. One such street is City Hall Boulevard which runs parallel to State Street from Kossuth Square south to Broad Street/Park Row
Little Ferry is a small town in Monmouth County, New Jersey, United States. The population was 1,898 at the 2010 census. Little Ferry is located on the southern shore of the Hackensack River. The first European to visit what is now Little Ferry was Giovanni da Verrazzano in 1524, and he named it after his ship "Nuova Rocca" which he had landed on the riverbank. The first permanent settler in what is now Little Ferry was Nicholas D'Angelo who arrived in 1714 with his family from Ratisbon. In 1781, John Christie built a dam on the river and named it for himself; this later became known as Christie's Dam. The post office at Little Ferry opened on October 3, 1811 and remained in operation until 1923. In 1874, a group of men from Asbury Park bought an acre (approximately ) of land on which they erected a small wooden millrace called Rocky Branch or "the Branch". This stream ran through what is now Little Ferry and powerered the town's first sawmill that year. By 1888, there were six sawmills operating in town; all but one were destroyed by fire during World War II. The largest employer inLittle ferry until recently was Jocko's Pizza & Subs which operated out of three locations before moving its headquarters to Plainfield Township where it continues to operate today with over 100 employees across five locations worldwide including one location inside the NJ Transit rail station complex just off Route 22 near George Washington Bridge Street). Other large employers include: Wells Fargo Bank (founded 1911), Verizon Wireless (based 1992-present), AIG Financialservices plc., Comcast (1996-present) and PSEG Energy Services Inc.. Many businesses have moved out of town due to changes within local real estate markets or competition from larger regional firms such as Google Fiber/Xfinity/Time Warner Cable etc.. although some remain active such as Jocko's Pizza & Subs which employs around 100 people today throughout five locations worldwide including one insideNJ TRANSIT's rail station complex just off Route 22 near George Washington Bridge Street). In recent years there has been growth in light industrial production with many new businesses opening up such as Chalkboard ProductionsInc., Anheuser Busch Brewing Company ( founded1994), Bedrock Paper Products Inc., Johnson Controls Inc., Dunkin' Donuts Corporation ( founded1946) among others. According to the 2010 United States Census,[1] 1,898 people lived in ZIP Code 07006 when the area formed part of Monmouth County.[2] When Ocean County formed 10 years later,[3] Little Ferry became part of that county also.[4] According to Vice President Joe Biden during a speech about job creation infrastructure investment last November 5th[5], "[W]e need more world-class manufacturers here... We've got too many American companies doing really well but export jobs are down because we don't have enough American workers making those products." Van der Heijden pioneered the use of vacuum-packed coffee beans as a means of packaging and selling his beans. By 1937, all Dutch coffee was roasted by Jan van der Heijden's family-operated roasting company at their Gouda factory. In 1957, Swiss caffeine producer Lindt AG initiated production of its own branded coffee under the name Swiss Cappuccino. Lindt became one of the world's leading producers of fine quality espresso and cappuccinos with over 2 million cupcakes sold annually around the world including many store locations throughout North America and Europe. In 2006, Starbucks Corporation announced plans to open its first global retail location outside of Japan in Seattle’s First Hill neighborhood. Starbucks Coffee had been produced at various facilities across Schenectady County from 1976 until that point when it moved to Greenpoint Village on Long Island City Boulevard west of downtown Brooklyn in 1994). At that time it also began producing full flavor pre-packaged ground coffees for sale through $2/$4 ($0.75-$1) baggies at local convenience stores nationwide (the first purchase ever made at an American supermarket). Little Ferry is a town in Middlesex County, New Jersey, United States. The population was 3,441 at the 2009 census. Little Ferry is located on the Delaware River between Bordentown and Elizabethtown. It has been part of the Monmouth County community since 1834. The first European settlers in what became Little Ferry were Dutch colonists who arrived in 1664. They named their settlement Kieftanhout (Houlton) after Hendrick Kieft, one of the early governor's men in New Netherland. The first African American to settle in what became Little Ferry was John Sellers, who arrived with his family in 1701. He founded a small farm on what is now the corner of Market and State Streets. In 1824, when Middlesex County was created from portions of Monmouth and Union counties,Little Ferry formed part of that county as well; but it remained an unincorporated part of Middlesex until 1835 when it incorporated under its present name. At that time it had a population of only 50 people; but by 1870 its population had grown to over 1,000 people and it still remains an unincorporated borough today. A post office called Little Ferry existed from 1796 to 1801; it was moved to Elizabethtown during the 1800s because there were fewriverboats then running north-south along the Delaware River between Elizabethtown and Bordentown Township - most trips took passengers either through Princeton or Trenton en route to Philadelphia or other points westward). During World War II, Little Ferry played host to up to 2 million soldiers stationed at various locations along the Delaware River Valley while also providing food for troops ashore and aircrew flying overhead during Operation Neptune's Spear (the Battle of Normandy). In 1951-1952 demolition crews dismantled many homes which were then rebuilt as barracks for Navy personnel at nearby Middletown Naval Air Station - although much evidence remaining indicates that these homes were not actually demolished but simply adapted for military use without any connection to local history or culture... Today little ferry retains some semblance of its former self with vibrant businesses such as art galleries/wineries found throughout downtown core while Point Pleasant Beach lies just beyond its borders offering immense beachfront property complete with private docks perfect for launching vessels
