Lindenwold is a small town in Middlesex County, New Jersey, United States. The population was 1,819 at the 2010 census. Lindenwold is located on the border of Hunterdon and Morris Counties. The name is derived from the Dutch word "linden" meaning "willows". The first European settlers in what is now Lindenwold were Captain John Smith and his crew who explored the area in 1609-10. They named it Monmouthshire after Monmouth county, Wales. Colonel John Carteret landed here on October 10, 1715, with a party of Marines led by George Washington as part of his march from Trenton to Princeton. In 1812 General James Knyazevich invaded New Jersey and burned all but one hundred homes of British Loyalists living in Mercer County (now Burlington County). That year Major General Andrew Jackson's army destroyed two mills belonging to Nicholas Babcock and Company near Hereford because they had been providing flour for the British military during the War of 1812. It was not until 1840 when Nathaniel Hawthorne wrote about life in Lindenwold while he was working as an editor for The Newark Evening News which later became The Pressmain papers company. Hawthorne included a description of a game called 'Cornettennis' played at Parsonstown where villagers would gather around an open fire to watch players challenge each other to games that lasted up to four hours without rest or tennis balls being taken off the court! After dinner each player would retire to their home where they would play another game or talk politics over coffee! On hot summer days no one wanted to leave their comfortable home inside until afternoon prayers! In 1850 residents voted 2-1 against annexation by Paramus and grew increasingly discontented with increased taxes levied on them by borough president Samuel Winthrop2%. This issue finally forced Winthrop into resignation in 1857 when he faced impeachment proceedings brought against him by Senator Abraham Lincoln3 over allegations he had violated state regulations governing electioneering4 . Shortly after this vote Occidental College opened its doors for classes following years of construction delays caused by lack of funding5 . In 1870 Wintonia Township was created within Middlesex County6 . As enrollment soared due largely to immigrants streaming into America seeking opportunity7 new towns were quickly established throughout North Jersey including Woodbridge (1872), Elizabeth (1876), Harrisonburg (1880), Hackensack (1884), Millville (1886)9 , Clifton Park (1900)10 and Parsippany11 . During World War II many factories closed down due to wartime production restrictions such as shipping materials back across oceans using slow boats instead of shipsyards like those used during World War I12 ; however, Lindenwold remained much intact thanks partly to its isolation from other large towns like Paterson13 . Today there are few businesses left remaining outside of agriculture14 with only a few people still living in single-family detached homes dating back before World War II15 . It is said that if you go out for dinner today you will likely find someone your age or older playing pickpockets right outside your front door16 !

Lindenwold is a small town in Hunterdon County, New Jersey, United States. It was founded in 1795 by Loyalists who fled the French and Indian War. The population of Lindenwold was 1,445 at the 2010 census. The community is named for General James Wilkinson, an American general during the Revolutionary War. The first settler in Lindenwold was John Wilkinson, who arrived in 1795 from England. He built a log cabin on the current site of what is now the town hall. Other early settlers were Richard Allaire and his wife Elizabeth Allaire; Moses Allaire; David Fenton; Joseph Richardson; Elijah Wiley (the father of Ezekiel Wiley); and Job Witherspoon (the brother-in-law of Philip Morrell). On November 3rd, 1800, three men - Abraham Willingboro, George Howick and Nicholas Roman - came to settle a half-acre lot on which they erected a cabin and cleared land for farming purposes. They named their new village after General James Wilkinson who had helped them escape from British forces during the French and Indian War. In 1807 Colonel John Stark moved to this area with his family from Cherry Hill Township and established Stark's Mills which manufactured flour for local markets. In 1814 Captain Jeremiah Hennepin came to Lindenwold with his army as part of an Invasion Force commanded by Major General Andrew Jackson which aimed to destroy Native American villages along the Delaware River Valley before moving on to Canada under Jackson's orders. On July 5th, 1814 Lieutenant Colonel George Armstrong Custer led Company K (Lincoln Infantry) of the Seventh Cavalry Regiment westward downriver from Fort Monmouth across the Hackensack River into New Jersey where he discovered Native Americans living near present day Princeton Junction where he fought against them on July 8th known as "The Battle of Cedar Rapids." Aftermath saw over one hundred dead including Custer himself with several more wounded including Lt Col Samuel Holmes who died later that day also fighting against Indians at that location called "The Massacre" according to some historians while others claim it was only five warriors killed by Custer with no loss among his unit or civilians however still resulting in many casualties for both sides involved including injuries to many soldiers' horses whose meat was also consumed by both sides
The first Europeans to visit Lindenwold were Dutch colonists in 1624. The area was next door to what is now Princeton, New Jersey. In 1764, the British took over the region and built a military fort at Princeton. The fort was abandoned in 1768 and used as a dumping ground for trash until it was taken down in 1836.
