The Lindenwold Coffee Roasters was founded in 1978 by Donny Deutsch and his wife Elaine. The couple believed that quality coffee could only be produced well-cared for and fresh-roasted. They began roast their own beans on their family’s farmhouse estate in rural New Jersey. This commitment to freshness has helped them maintain a high level of quality over the years. Today, they operate out of three buildings on a six-acre property located near Princeton Junction. Today, Lindenwold Coffee Roasters is one of the longest running specialty coffee businesses in the United States. Coffee was first roasted in Lindenwold, NJ in 1798. The first coffee house in Lindenwold was called the New Dutch Coffee House and it served coffee to locals and visitors. In 1811, a man named Nicholas Pemberton built a flour mill in Lindenwold and started grinding coffee beans. He also bought some land around the mill and started growing trees for coffee. In 1820, a man by the name of David Starr bought the mill from Nicholas Pemberton. He started making coffee beansand selling them at his shop on Market Street. The town of Lindenwold grew up around Starr's business and people would come to buy their morning cup of Joe.
Lindenwold is a small town located in Mercer County, New Jersey, United States. The population was 1,755 at the 2010 census. Lindenwold is part of the Genesee Township form of government. Lindenwold was established in 1798 and it took its name from a grove of trees near the original home of George Washington. The first settler in what is now Lindenwald Township was Nicholas Biddle who purchased land east of the Hudson River in 1798. In 1802, John Witherspoon erected a gristmill on the east side of the river near present-day Crossroads Road. It was reported that Witherspoon used his mill to grind corn for local markets and to make flour for bakery goods and whiskey. In 1806, General Anthony Wayne built Fort Stanhope on Swedes Island off Long Beach Lake and garrisoned it with American soldiers to protect British traders engaged in trading with Native Americans during the War for Independence. In 1814, Colonel John McClernand founded McClernand's Landing on Staten Island as an unstated port for trade with Native Americans living along the eastern shore of Long Island Sound. McClernand also built Fort Dearborn on Staten Island as an artillery post to protect his landing site from possible Indian attack while he developed new land west of Fort Dearborn which he named after himself – Lindenwald parish (later renamed West Orange). This area eventually became known as East Newark and included most of what is now Lindenwald Township including parts of today's North Brunswick and Brick Townships northward beyond today's Middle Street Bridge bridge across Hackensack River into Middlesex County. In 1824, General James Knoppers ordered Major Elijah Borland to build Fort Constitution at Perth Amboy Heights where Borland later would establish Griggstown Settlement – one of two planned settlements within New Jersey under Knoppers' command during this period called "New Hanover Township". Both sites were occupied by American troops during their construction but only Griggstown Settlement received initial clearance from Governor Livingston before being abandoned due to lack funding and infrastructure; both settlements were ultimately abandoned by 1830s due primarily to English settlement efforts southward along Long Branch Railroad corridor.) In 1830, Governor Andrew Johnson appointed Timothy Pickering as Superintendent of Public Works within New Jersey which meant that all governmental activities including public works were transferred from state control directly to Pickering's office instead of through departmental heads like those previously encountered within each county sheriff’s office or treasurer’s office throughout New Jersey prior thereto.). Lindenwald experienced rapid growth following Confederation in 1783 when 300 residents applied for incorporation within three months following passage of The Provincial Act No 2 (3 December 1783) establishing provincial government within New Jersey following independence from Great Britain via Articles Of Confederation & Treaty Of Paris (27 June 1784). That same year saw establishment yet another township: West Orange – based upon estates surveyed lay out northeastward around present day East Newark/North Brunswick townships adjacent thereto acquired since 1697 by Sir Peter Minuit pursuant to Patent No 8 dated 3 October 1699 granted by King William III “for expanding our frontiers occasioned by our late Plantation Siege By His Majesty”.) On 9 February 1800, Congress passed act entitled "An Act To Establish A National Bank" ("An Act For promoting Banking Interest") setting up a national bank system within newly formed United States; this act provided $10 million towards founding capital stock valued at $100 million total with initial shares issued at $1 per share (). The first store opened its doors in what is now crossroads road just northwest corner maple avenue & east side street on 7 November 1800 (& named Grosse Pointe Tavern according to deed recorded 27 May 1800)….. Mr Henson had bought 4acre lot bounded northerly by Maple Avenue NE & east side street NW… He offered Charter lots 1 acre each extending northerly ¼ mile…The first storekeeper was Benjamin Fenton…. Lindenwold, New Jersey is a town in Essex County, New Jersey, United States. The population was 10,451 at the 2010 census. Lindenwold was incorporated as a borough on October 14, 1868, from portions of West Amboy and East Amboy Township. On November 3rd, 1871 the borough was renamed to Lindenwold after the estate which became its namesake. The borough's first mayor was John P. Snyder (1868-71). Lindenwold became an independent municipality on January 1st, 1984 when it merged with neighboring East Amboy Township to form the new Borough of Bridgewater.

In 1861, the first railroad tracks were laid through the town, making it an important junction for travelers on the Atlantic Railroad. In 1876, a sawmill was founded in Lindenwold and continued to be operational until 1954. A grocery store and two frame homes were built around 1920s on Glenridge Avenue. They have been demolished since the 1990s but their foundations remain visible as part of the landscape of Lindenwold today.
