The Kearny, New Jersey Army National Guard is one of the most well-known and popular army units in the United States. The unit has been part of the U.S. military for over 120 years, making it one of the oldest continuously manned army units in America. The Kearny, New Jersey Army National Guard was originally organized on December 12th, 1846 as the 1st Regiment of Infantry (New York Volunteers). The regiment served in various campaigns during the Mexican-American War before being disbanded on October 20th, 1847. On July 2nd, 1898, the 1st Regiment (New York Volunteers) reorganized under corporate name “Kearny Volunteer Infantry” and became an all volunteer militia force under command of Major General James Wainwright. On November 8th 1899, Major General Wainwright was replaced by Colonel John Phelan as commander of the 1st Militia Brigade which included elements from both Kearny and Monmouth Counties. In 1903 colonel Phelan ordered all artillery pieces that were not needed for field service to be stored at Camp Gregg near Elizabethtown until mobilization called for them again two years later on April 6th 1906 when World War I began hostilities in Europe. On September 3rd 1914 Colonel Phelan was promoted to Lieutenant Colonel and ordered to report to Ft Wadsworth Ohio where he would be responsible for providing ammunition supplies to his brigade while training soldiers for war against Serbia and Montenegro who had declared themselves an independent country after Austria-Hungary collapsed in October 1914 due to conflict within their own borders over Serb national aspirations within Bosnia-Hercegovina which were still administered by Austria Hungarys remnants following its fall). When World War I ended Lt Col Phelan returned home having transported more than 10 million rounds of Ammunition across country never having let any troops down since entering into combat three months earlier! On November 17th 1915 colonel Phelan reported back to Ft Wadsworth Ohio commanding 9 companies artillery batteries along with Troop Carrier Squadron #10 commanded by First Lieutenant George Fenton carrying 5 guns each into battle near Sarajevo Yugoslavia against Serbian forces led by General Jovan Djordjevic who had proclaimed himselfultan afterAustria-Hungary collapsed) Aftermath: With respect Serbian forces numbering only 25000 men vs Ottoman Armys 1000000+ combined; there was no way that our artillery could have overwhelmed them even if they had numbered 50 times as many! In total we lost just 2 officers killed & wounded along with 176 enlisted men including our Captains; this despite numerous snipers firing onto us from high up buildings trying assassination on our Commanding Officers! This victory demonstrated how effective artillery can be used in battlefields when properly directed without becoming overwhelmed or exposed numerically! Today’s 1st Regiment (New York Volunteers) continues its proud tradition as a gift shop favorite thanks to donations coming in from all around America!

Kearny, New Jersey is home to the 1st Battalion, Essex County Army National Guard. The battalion was organized on November 12th, 1863 and became part of the 8th Infantry Regiment on April 17th, 1865. The battalion was inactivated on September 15th, 1916 and re-organized as the 1st Battalion, Kearny Volunteer Cavalry on October 3rd, 1916. On February 13th, 1920 the battalion became part of the 2nd Infantry Regiment and served with distinction during World War I. On October 3rd, 1951 the battalion became a component of 4th Infantry Division which served in Vietnam. The unit was redesignated as the Kearny Army National Guard's 515th Armor Brigade on December 11th 1984 and continues to serve in this role today.
Kearny, New Jersey is a borough in and the county seat of Mercer County, New Jersey. As of the 2010 United States Census, Kearny had a population of 44,566. The borough was formed on December 3, 1914 from portions of Burlington Township. The first Europeans to arrive in what is now Kearny were Dutch settlers who founded a farmstead in 1664. The town's name may come from Captain John Kearny and his group of soldiers who explored the area in 1714 during the French and Indian War. In 1834, one-third of the township was annexed to Jersey City while part of Camden County; this left Kearny with only 8 square miles (20 km2) land area. The development around Newark Liberty International Airport began to take shape after World War II when companies started manufacturing aircraft parts and components there such as P&O Airlines and Continental Airlines. The airport grew rapidly until it reached its present size with over 10 million passengers served annually by 2000. Kearny was founded by Ephraim Kearny in 1795. The town was named for Captain John Kearny, who fought in the American Revolution. In 1848, it became a part of Jersey City and remained that way until consolidation with New York City in 1898. Kearny is located on the Hackensack River and is known for its limestone quarries and other products. The town has a population of about 50,000 people today. The first residents of Kearny were farmers and their families from New Netherland. They started farming in what is now northwestern Jersey City and developed a small town economy around agriculture and trade with neighboring towns. In 1824, the first school was established in the community, which taught children between the ages of 6 and 14 years old. By 1830, there were 10 businesses operating in Kearney- six cotton mills, two tanneries, four flour mills, three sawmills (one operated by James Aiken), one millinery shop and one blacksmith shop. In 1848, when Jersey City was merged into New York City as a result of an act of Congress under President Andrew Johnson, Kearny voted to become part of the new city along with other villages within New York State including Dumont (now Paterson)and South Orange Township (now Livingston). From 1852 to 1860, sulfur mine production played an important role in the economy of both communities; during this time period most jobs were done by men working at mines rather than skilled labor because transportation wasn’t available to carry goods long distances across states or into new countries at that time. When Philadelphia annexed Hudson County in 1896 it included all but 1/3 of present-day Jersey City; Kearney responded by annexing all but 3/4ths of Hudson Valley including Fort Lee which lying just east of present-day Newark Liberty Airport on Elizabethtown Road had been partof Bergen County since1624 when Dutch colonists settled there after fleeing religious persecution back home at Amsterdam’s excessive tight Colonization! When Newark became an independent city on May 15th 1911 following a referendum vote it annexed Fort Lee making it therebyuddermost contiguous municipality within New Jersey jurisdiction! During World War II many residents took up arms against fascism as part of patriotic resistance effort; key figures include Burt Reynolds who served as Mayor from 1947 through 1951 & Mona Lisa McGraw who served from 1951 through 1957 as First Lady Of America
