The Keansburg Navy Yard was founded in 1892 and served as the naval armament and ammunition depot of the town of Keansburg, New Jersey. The yard continued to serve as a major center for warships production until its closure in 1980. During its time at the navy yard,Keansburg produced more than 350 vessels including 22 battleships, 11 cruisers, six destroyers, four submarines, and two torpedo boats. The arsenal also employed over 100 workers who manufactured guns, ammo, explosives and other naval supplies. Today the navyyard remains an important part of community life with activities such as the annual sailors' parade that takes place on Memorial Day and the Naval Historical Foundation's (NHF) museum which features exhibits on local naval history.

Navy gift history in Keansburg, New Jersey goes back to the 1920s. In that decade, USS Keansburg was christened and served in World War II. After the war, the ship was sold and used as a training vessel before being placed into storage. In 1961, she was reactivated and served as a patrol boat until she was donated to theKeansburg Historical Society in 1984. The society has kept her running ever since.
Keansburg is a town in Monmouth County, New Jersey, United States. The population was 20,682 at the 2010 census. The name of the town derives from Kean's Creek which flowed through it. The first Europeans to visit what is now Keansburg were Dutch traders who called it "Keen's River" because they saw keenis (a type of wild grape) there. In 1683, English settlers arrived and named the creek after John Kean, one of their number. By 1700, Keansburg had a small stop on the Delaware & Hudson Canal and by 1730 it had become an incorporated town with its own government and court system. In 1814, following the Battle of Princeton Heights during the American Revolutionary War, General George Washington visited Keansburg while he was on his way to battle British troops at Trenton Bridge. Afterward, General Washington ordered Major-General Nicholas Hackett to march out from Morristown with 10 companies of horsemen to support him when he reached Princeton Junction nearpresent-day East Orange. When Hackett reached Princeton Junction and learned that Washington was coming only as far as Bound Brook Station he decided not to follow him and returned home without supporting his commander. During World War II many residents took up arms against Nazi Germany in hopes of saving their homes or countrymen; some even died in action. One resident - Betty Lou Radcliffe - became known for her brave resistance efforts when she defended her home against several tanks welded onto a farmhouse roof by German forces during Operation Market Garden in September 1944; she held off three consecutive vehicles until finally being overrun by them before surrendering herself into captivity just days later. Keansburg has seen much change over its history including becoming an all-white community due to social engineering programs initiated by local officials in the early 21st century; however these policies have been reversed since then yielding various demographic groups throughout its history including people of color living peacefully side by side with white citizens despite previous busing controversies that have rocked their community racially/ethnically majority status quo

Keansburg is a town in Hunterdon County, New Jersey, United States. The population was 1,564 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Camden-Haddon Heights-Wilmington, NJ Metropolitan Statistical Area. The community was founded in 1795 by Loyalists who fled British rule in North America. The firststore opened in Keansburg on October 14, 1795 and was run by John Kean and his family. On December 12th of that year, Samuel Morse inaugurated the first working telephone line between Camden and Philadelphia using a KEANsburg home as both transmitters and receivers. In 1802, the town's post office was renamed KEARNSBURG after General George Washington's father General James KEARNSBERG who had served as Governor of Maryland from 1789 to 1800. In 1816 Keansburg became an incorporated municipality with a vote by its citizens to annex portions of Bergen Township (now West Paterson). In 1854 store owner Ziegler built the first schoolhouse in Keansburg which he used as a meeting place for his businesses and sold supplies from. A new schoolhouse was built in 1865 after Ziegler's death; it still stands today and is used as a museum today. The keg brewery operated out of the old schoolhouse until 1901 when it closed down due to Prohibitionism during the American Revolution era. In 1916, Postmaster General Franklin D Roosevelt delivered remarks at an outdoor dinner Celebration held at the old high school auditorium located on Main Street called "The Great Dinner." He spoke about how important mail service had been throughout America’s history before becoming disrupted during World War I because “the Postal Service could not compete with other forms of transportationa" Today Keansburg is known for its unique architecture including its Gothic Revival style schools buildings such as Stonington High School (1865) - one of only two remaining original high schools in New Jersey - replaced by modern structures following fire damage done during Hurricane Sandy; also noteable are its many turnpike Era streets named after Governors or major political figures such as George Washington Boulevard (1914), James KEARNSBERG Boulevard (1915), Abraham Lincoln Boulevard (1922), Franklin D Roosevelt Boulevard (1946), Eleanor Roosevelt Boulevard (2008) etc.; also notable are various art museums located within walking distance including Hunterdon County Museum Of Art & History housed inside former post office building on Route 9 South near Factory shopping center; Plainsboro Museum Of Rural Arts And Industry headquartered inside former Woolworths store on Route 9 North near intersection with Old Bridge Road; latter being open every day except Sundays since 2006 having moved to their current location across from PNC Park complex off Plantation Avenue just south of Market Street
When Keansburg was founded in 1795, it was a small town of about 200 people. By 1825, the population had grown to over 1,000 people. In 1882, Keansburg became the first town in Morris County to be incorporated as a result of the Morristown Plan.
