The history of the Keansburg Coast Guard Station began in 1892 when the New Jersey State Legislature passed a bill establishing a coast guard station on the Delaware River. The facility was be built on what is now the eastern edge of Keansburg, and its initial purpose was to keep shipping lanes open during times of high tide. In 1935, the station became part of the New Jersey State Police and continued to serve as an auxiliary unit for that agency until it was merged into the Department of Homeland Security in February 2003. Since its inception, the Coast Guard Station has played an important role in keeping our communities safe. Officers from this station respond to calls from all over New Jersey, includingKeansburg. Keansburg is a small town in New Jersey, located east of Newark and north of Paterson. The population was 3,898 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Passaic County borough of Union City. The first settled area in what is now Keansburg was on the Hackensack River along what is now Livingston Avenue. The first post office was established in 1837, and it remained in operation until 1859. In 1868, a group of developers led by James Wertz bought land near present-day Keansburg for $1 million. This resulted in the construction of many large homes and businesses that remain standing today including Wertz's Store & Tavern (now known as The Hessian), Empire Coal Company's Administration Building (now known as BankAtlantic), Keansburg Presbyterian Church (now First United Methodist Church), and several schools - all still in use today. The community rapidly grew during the 19th century with industry becoming its dominant force with mills producing flour, cottonseed oil, shoes, cigars and other items. In 1870, a railroad line was proposed to run through Keansburg but did not come to fruition due to financial constraints; however an underground Railroad system operated from Keansburg to Paterson until 1923. A bridge over the Hackensack River which connected Union City with Keansburgh was completed in 1915 and remains one of town's most prominent landmarks today; it also served as a crossing for local buses which transported residents between their homes and work locations throughout the day. In 1951, when Passaic County became part of New Jersey, Keansburg passed into township form with its current name reflecting its status as a smalltown within an increasingly larger municipality; though most commercial activities have since moved away from town center towards larger enclaves within neighboring municipalities such as Secaucus or Paramus.. Today there are few if any remaining African American residents living within township limits while Hispanics make up almost 60% of population according to2010 Census figures; this has been largely attributed to waves of Hispanic immigrants arriving during the late 20th century who brought their own culture and language with them while working within more assimilated white communities across New Jersey.; accordingly much public education remains focused on providing English language instruction for both black/Latino students as well as non-English speakers from various backgrounds.; nevertheless there are some elements within traditional Black American cultural practices that continue unabated outside Of Township Limits even though they may be less visible than elsewhere..

Keansburg is a small town in Union County, New Jersey, United States. The population was 1,963 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Camden–Newark–Trenton Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first Keansburg settlers were Dutch and English colonists who arrived in 1683. They named their village after Lawrence Kean, an early settler in what is now Union County. In 1785, two brothers named John and James Kean founded a gristmill on the Hackensack River near where Keansburg now stands. The mill operated until 1827 when it burned down due to faulty construction. In 1834, developer Nicholas-Jacques de Houck bought the mill site and began developing it into a town center with several churches and stores. By 1840, there were twenty-six houses in Keansburg – twelve of which still stand today – as well as a school and three churches. After being damaged by fire in 1849, de Houck rebuilt the town hall and store building between 1850 and 1853 using local stone and brick materials quarried nearby. In 1865, during the American Civil War, Confederate soldiers fled toKeansburg from Delaware during General Robert E Lee’s campaign against Ulysses S Grant along the Susquehanna River Valley; some of these troops live on through descendants of those men today. In 1870–71, de Houck built another storebuilding on State Street across from his original one for use as both a hotel (the first such structure in New Jersey)and post office (the first such building east of Philadelphia). In 1907–08James Laughlin developed what is now known as Farrell's Corner overlooking downtownKeansburg while working for Ayer Dowling & Company; this development later became known as Farrell's Landing or simply Farrell's Pointe because most of the land around it was purchased by Maurice Farrell from JB Peddle & Sons real estate firm less than one year before its opening date (May 3, 1907). The main thoroughfare through Keansburg was State Street until 1925 when Route 9 was constructed concurrent with it west of town along Panther Creek Bridge over Hennepin Creek; this route remains extant to this day as part of Routeboard NJ Transit's Camden Line service between Camden/Newark Liberty Station and Penn Station (CAMDEN), providing easy access to central New Jersey without having to walk any distance outside town limits!
