The Highland Park Coffee Cooperative became one of the longest-running cooperatives in the United States with over 60 years of business. Highland Park, New Jersey is a town in Passaic County, New Jersey, United States. The population was 23,521 at the 2010 census. Highland Park forms part of the Newark-Central Ward in the New York City borough of Newark. The township was organized on March 3, 1838 and was named for Captain John Highland, who fought in the American Revolution. The first settler in what is now Highland Park was George Stephenson who built his mill here in 1824. In 1853, Alfred Biddle bought 2/3 of section 5 from Josiah Whitney and erected a small frame house here which still stands today. This marked the beginning of what would become one of America's largest cotton plantations by production (the area now known as Atlantic Highlands had been home to some mangroves). In 1875 Captain James Wickersham Purchased section 7 from Elisha Parsons for $5 per acre with an option to purchase more land if it could be found suitable. He began planting soybeans here and soon became one of America's leading soybean farmers. In 1907 he sold his interest in Highland Park to Isaac Asimov for $10 million dollars – making him one of the most riche men ever born in America! He also founded Asimov & Company which manufactured vacuum tube radios and other electronic equipment until its sale to GE in 1986. Asimov left lasting legacy through his philanthropy including building two reservoirs near Highland Park - One near Morrisville and another just north of Hackensack University Campus - these have since been renamed after him - Asimov Lake and Asimov Pond respectively - both providing essential water supplies for many people throughout South Jersey during drought years. A major fire destroyed much of downtown Newark on February 17th 1906 destroying over 100 stores and homes along with nearly all the city's businesses including some established by Captain James Wickersham himself! This event forever changed this town as several new buildings were needed such as a movie theater (now The Regal) while others were replaced or expanded such as First Presbyterian Church (now Stonington Presbyterian). It also provided impetus for development around nearby Broad Street including numerous residential subdivisions that continue to flourish today!

Highland Park is a borough in Bergen County, New Jersey, United States. The population was 5,871 at the 2010 census. Highland Park was formed on May 25, 1913 from portions of Rahway and Monmouth Township. It is named for the highlands of Scotland that surround it. The Borough of Highland Park was founded on May 25, 1913 when parts of Rahway and Monmouth Township were merged to form the new borough. At its creation, Highland Park had a population of 3,711 residents along with 602 residents in neighboring Rahway Township. The original boundaries of the borough were based on what are now four streets in central Highland Park: Morris Avenue east to Clinton Avenue north to Roosevelt Boulevard; Rutgers Avenue east to Bushwyck Avenue south to Broad Street; and Eighth Street between Roosevelt Boulevard and Bushwyck Avenue west to Dutch Kills Road. In 1918, part of what is now East Brunswick Township was annexed into Highland Park as well. In 1951 part of Rahway Township (which then included East Brunswick) was annexed into Highlands as well creating an even larger municipality with a total population over 7,000 constituents within its borders! On July 1st 1960 the Borough became fully operational by incorporating all unincorporated areas within its borders which made it one entity with a total population exceeding 10k constituents!
The land that is now Highland Park was originally part of the Township of Harrison, New Jersey. The township was established on April 12, 1817 and was named for General Sir George Washington's estate in Virginia. In 1835, the Township of Harrison merged with the neighboring Borough of Monmouth to form a new municipality known as Monmouth County. The boundaries of Highland Park were not changed until 1951 when it became a part of newly created Princeton Township. Highland Park is located on what was once a large tract of forested land including parts of southeastern Middlesex County and northwestern Hunterdon County. The area now includes many high-rise buildings and shopping centers dating back to the early 1900s.
