The United States Air Force has a long and proud history in Highland Park, New Jersey. The USAF's first base in the town was at Wright-Patterson AFB, which opened in 1946. The USAF currently operates three bases in the town: Lackland AFB, McGuire AFB, and Ramstein AB. The USAAF was founded on December 9th, 1942 by President Franklin D. Roosevelt as the American Volunteer Group (AVG). The AVG operated from North Africa to Japan in World War II and played a significant role in defeating Nazi Germany. In 1947, the USAF activated its first bomber squadron – the 3rd Bombardment Wing – at Ramstein AB. The wing flew Boeing B-47 Stratojet bombers into combat against Nazi Germany during World War II and later flew Boeing 707 jet aircraft into service with the USAF. In 1953, Ramstein AFB became operational as an airfield for IX Bomber Command flying Douglas DC-6s of the 13th Airlift Squadron RAF equipped with Lockheed L-719A Lodestars. In 1957, Creech AFB was opened as an auxiliary fighter base providing support to NATO operations in Europe; it would become fully operational as Creech AF in 1972. In 1979–1980, McDonnell Douglas F/A-18 Hornets were active at Lackland AFB while AndersenAF served as a test facility for General Electric GE J80 Dreamliners. From 1951-1954, Colonel Donald Ewing served as Director of Student Affairs at Maxwell AFB. This position helped develop civilian-military relationships and cooperation within the USAF. From 1954-1957, Colonel Edward "Buzz" Aldrin served as Commander of Headquarters Squadron Five at Randolph AFB in Texas; this position changed name to Headquarters squadron One in 1957 after becoming operational under Project Mercury; this project designed and built Alan Shepard's spacecraft which became America's first human mission into space ( Shepard died in space). Colonel Edwin "Buzz" Aldrin served as Deputy Commander for Plans at Headquarters Squadron One from 1957-1959 before returning to duty as Assistant Commanding Officer for Plans at HQ Squadron One from 1959-1963 before serving as Captain for Plans Officer with III Fighter Wing from 1963-1968 before becoming a brigadier general in 1969 and ending his service with Headquarters Squadron One on 1 October 1968. HQ Squadrons Two through Six were activated on 15 November 1965 when IX Bomber Wing was activated from Wright Patterson AFB Ohio; these commands provided air refueling capability for Tactical Air Command bombers flying over South Vietnam during Operation Rolling Thunder which ended on 8 December 1965) HQ Squadrons Two through Six were concurrently activated simultaneously with Headquarters Group Eight (later Tactical Air Command) located at Offutt AFB Nebraska on 15 November 1966 when XX Bomber Wing was activated also from Wright Patterson AFB Ohio providing strategic bombardment support to ground troops fighting against Vietcong insurgents inside South Vietnam) HQ Squadrons Two through 6 were concurrentlyactivated together with VIII Bomber Wing (later Strategic Air Command) located at Seymour Johnson AB Ala on 1 January 1967 when Task Force 165 assumed control of all USAAF bombing operations inside North Vietnam following Tet Offensive). Highland Park, New Jersey is a town in Morris County, New Jersey, United States. The population was 17,874 at the 2010 census. Highland Park is part of the Camden-Wilmington metropolitan area. The downtown business district and two other districts were consolidated into one in 2007. The first settlers to what is now Highland Park arrived in 1814 from Scotland. They were farmers and hunters who began to purchase land around what is now Broad Street and Main Street. The Scotsman Alexander Macdonald purchased some land on the east side of town on November 8, 1814 from James Paulding for £500 ($738). In 1825, Scotsman John McMurtry purchased a tract of land known as "the farm" that included present-day Highland Park from Andrew Mellon for $5,000 ($7,680). In 1876, Scottish settler Archibald Forbes bought 840 acres (300 ha) of land southeast of present-day Highland Park from George Hargrave for $5 (£2/ha). This property would become known as Forbes Farm. In 1880s and 1890s wealthy Americans founded estates here including Cornelius Vanderbilt II's 1,200 acre (490 ha) Vanderbilt Estate which still stands today and was used as a filming location for several movies including "The Great Gatsby". As more residents moved into the township during the 20th century they built homes on much larger tracts of land which became known as "The Highlands". By 1925 there were over 10 thousand people living in Highland Park with about 33 businesses and 9 schools; it was considered an highly developed community by its contemporaries. During World War II many local businesses participated in war production such as making munitions or providing materials to industries located within commuting distance such as Elizabethton NJ or Paterson NJ where soldiers were stationed or working on war projects like shipbuilding or aircraft manufacturing. Some notable examples include: Jardine & Hunter Paper Company which made newsprint available at low prices to Allied forces; Naugatuck Aircraft Manufacturing Company which made planes out of wood; and American Milling Co., Inc., also manufacturers flour mills throughout Manchester NJ until it closed its doors due to bankruptcy in 1986 after producing 6 million sacks of flour per year during WWI alone

Highland Park, New Jersey is a small town located in Middlesex County, NJ. The population was 3,812 at the 2010 census. Highland Park is one of the oldest towns in New Jersey and has been around since 1693. The first settlers arrived in what is now Highland Park on October 10, 1693. Highland Park was originally called "Hardingstown" after General John Harding who fought for the British during the American Revolution. The original location of Highland Park was on the site of present-day Livingston Avenue and Third Street. In 1814, land was acquired along Third Street from William Penn to build a new village that would include stores and residences for wealthy citizens of Philadelphia. The first lots were sold on July 4th, 1814 and by December 1st, 1815, all but one lot had been sold. By 1830, many residents had moved to what is now Livingston Avenue due to its convenient location near central business district in Philadelphia as well as its rolling hills and fertile soils which made it an ideal place to raise crops such as corn and beans. In 1840, when Scotch-Irish immigrants began arriving from Ulster Province in Northern Ireland seeking work opportunities in America, they founded two villages – West Orange (later part of Newark) and East Orange – within miles of each other on both sides of Hackensack River. These villages remain today as separate municipalities: West Orange became Monmouth County; East Orange became Essex County (now Rahway). Within a few years of their establishment these villages had become important economic hubs with traders bringing goods back and forth between them frequently carrying passengers across Hackensack River on canoes or downstream into Pennsylvania through Bordentown then upriver again through Perth Amboy before finally reaching Philadelphia via Kingston or Trenton where they were unloaded onto navies before being transported by road downriver to Manhattanville orPhiladelphia's Southwark dockside where they were offloaded onto boats bound for Europe or other parts of North America before finally reaching their final destination - home with their families! It should be noted that although Scots-Irish immigrants played an important role in founding these communities - most notably through their entrepreneurship - there are no direct evidence linking any individual Scotch-Irish immigrant with any particular job or enterprise within either village prior to 1795 when laws were enacted banning Irishmen from working outside their homeland without special permission from British authorities! This prohibition served as a significant impediment not only to Scottish- Irish immigrants' ability but alsoto development & growth alike within both villages until eventually repealed following the /American Revolution/ . It should also be noted that while Scots-Irish immigrants formed & participated actively in early Highland Park community affairs including serving on various local committees & boards - many did so indirectly thru family members living elsewhere who conducted similar functions at local level – this notwithstanding anglophone resident/s using Gaelic language (& English education) exclusively among themselves while deliberately excluding everyone else!
The original Highland Park was founded in 1795 by Scotsmen who had come to the area for land and mineral rights. The area now includes part of the city of Jersey City and portions of Newark, Teaneck, and Rahway. In 1814, a group of farmers from New York City began to settle in what is now Highland Park. They named their new town after a range of high mountains in Scotland. The first post office was established in 1815. The town grew slowly until the mid-19th century when large numbers of European immigrants arrived here. Many businesses were started here including a blacksmith shop, a grocery store, and a sawmill. In 1856, the first train reached Highland Park from Newark Penn Station. In 1870, Highland Park became incorporated as a borough with a population of about 2,000 people. In 1916 it merged with nearby Teaneck to form the current city of Jersey City.
