Hasbrouck Heights, New Jersey is a town in Middlesex County, New Jersey, United States. The population was 16,651 at the 2010 census. The town has been CDP since 1959. The first settlers were Dutch and British colonists who arrived in 1714 and 1715 respectively. In 1764, Sir George Washington acquired land in what is now Hasbrouck Heights from the Lenape Native Americans. The community began to form when two small lots were sold to farmers in 1892. One of the first manufacturing businesses in the area was a foundry that manufactured cannons for the Union army during the American Civil War (1861- 1865). The other business was a bakery that produced bread for local residents and also sold goods such as hats and candy bars to customers on Main Street. In 1909, Hasbrouck Heights became part of Rahway Township following an act by President William McKinley which combined Middlesex County with Monmouth County into one district. In 1925, Rahway Township split into North and SouthRahway townships which remain separate municipalities today. When NorthRahway Township merged into Gloucester County in 1996, Hasbrouck Heights became a part of Gloucester City while SouthRahway Township formed a new municipality known as Westwood Borough within Gloucester City which annexed Hasbrouck Heights on July 1, 2006. The original name for Hasbrouck Heights was "Hedgewood". On December 14th 1889 nine men from Hackensack bought 4 acres of marshy land north of present day Hampshire Avenue east of main road called "Hudson's Path" for $1 per acre lot due to its strategic location between two major rivers providing water power for mills along both banks making it possible to produce flour and lumber for export shipment downriver; this site would become home to some of Newark’s earliest homes including those built by Nicholas Hirschhorn who started construction on what is now Harrison Road/King Street about 1830 according to records located at NH 9307 . It should be noted that there are many accounts dating back much further than these early years testifying to this fact so any changes or updates made here will most likely reflect historical truth not bias

Hasbrouck Heights is a borough in Bergen County, New Jersey, United States. The population was 9,871 at the 2010 census. The name "Hasbrouck Heights" is derived from the Dutch words "Haberbeckshoek", meaning "high bridge". The first European settlers in Hasbrouck Heights were father and son Isaac Nevin and Jacobus Bogaerts. They arrived on April 6, 1666, and began to farm land that would eventually form the present-day borough of Hasbrouck Heights. On October 15, 1726, John Witherspoon granted three lots to Moses Borland for his services as an aide-de-camp during the American Revolution. Borland became one of the most respected men in Bergen County and is considered one of its early pioneers. He also served as mayor of Hackensack from 1837 to 1840 and 1842 to 1845. In 1849, a group of Dutchmen who had been living in America for some time founded a new town called Monmouth Junction in southeastern Bergen County after they realized that they could not get passage on ships back home because of the Revolutionary War embargo against Hollandimposed by England. The town was named for Monmouthshire, Scotland – where they had originated – but it did not take long before residents realized that there was no connection between their new community and that near Edinburgh, Scotland. In fact, only two weeks after Monmouth Junction's incorporation as a Borough on January 1st 1850*, all references to Edinburgh were erased from municipal meeting records! In 1905*, Hasbrouck Heights became part of Teaneck Township; however, it remained a separate municipality until 1965 when it merged with Bergen Township to form Hasbrouck Township again. Since then*, Hasbrouck Heights has experienced significant growth - both economically* and physically*.olphthouses have been built throughout the borough and businesses have expanded rapidly into areas such as real estate development (e.g., Park Ridge), professional sports (e.g., Asbury Park*) & entertainment (e.g., White Sands Casino). *This rapid growth has led to increased property values within the borough; which has helped contribute significantly to its strong economy today*.
