In 1857, Mr. Ketchum opened an additional store on Second Street which became known as The Avenue Store. This store was specializing in cigars and other tobacco products. From here, Mr. Ketchum began marketing his gift products throughout thecommunity. By 1901, he had developed his own unique brand of gift products called The Gents' Warehouse which he continued to sell until his death in 1922. In 1925, Mrs. Sarah Acker bought the business from her husband John Acker and renamed it The ladies' home furnishing store. She continued to operate it until her death in 1978. During this time period, The Ladies Home Furnishing Store became one of the most successful gift stores in New Jersey due to its wide selection of special occasion gifts including weddings and anniversaries among others! Hasbrouck Heights is a borough in Bergen County, New Jersey, United States. The population was 9,829 at the 2010 census. Hasbrouck Heights is located on the eastern edge of the city of Paramus and straddles both borders with Plainsboro to its east and West Park to its west. It is bordered by North Plainfield Township to the south and west, Meadowlands Borough to the north, andParamus Township to the east. The name "Hasbrouck Heights" originates from Hasbrouck Lane (now part of Woodbridge Boulevard), which ran through what is now Hasbrouck Heights from 1750 until it was discontinued in 1851. The first settler in what became Hasbrouck Heights was Isaac Sanger who came overland from Pennsylvania in 1795. He founded a farm on what would become Green Road between 1811-1812. Other early pioneers include John Crouse (1798-1860) who built a gristmill on Buffalo Creek near present day White Horse Road; Moses Fenton (1800-1873) who settled along present day Old Bridge Road; Israel Bicknor (1802-1868) who built a store on Maiden Lane between 1824 and 1830; Joshua Morse (c1790-1872) who platted areas around Spring Lake between 1827 and 1830; Samuel Morse (1792-1864) who erected a stockade around Spring Lake in 1840; Daniel Webster (1796-1964) who served as Mayor of Paramus from 1865 to 1870; Augustus Ackerly(? – ?)who established an academy at Easton Avenue and Main Street in 1849; James Jansen(? – ?)he established an academy at Fourth Street between Parsippany Roadand Third Avenue in 1850 In 1860, when Morrisey moved into this area he took up residence at 328 Hazleton Ave., later renamed 225 Hazleton Ave., within what would become Hasbrouck Heights. This house remains today as part of one of Paramus' most unique icons: The Jansen House Museum which opened its doors August 11th, 2006 after being vacant for many years In 1863 when America's Civil War began there were only 8 households left living within limits set by township ordinance that included White Horse Pike extending northeast all the way to Plainfield Township where cannons could be fired without warning causing panic among farmers living downstream A group including 3 veteran soldiers - Abraham Lincoln, Ulysses S Grant & George Armstrong Custer - decided they needed someplace safe so they offered their services philanthropically & bought 162nd street just outside Paramus for $10 per acre from Nicholas Pappoe They donated it back TO THE CITY OF PALM BEACH FOR PUBLIC USE AS HASBROUCK HEIGHTS . NEW JERSEY HISTORY BOOKLET TITLE PAGE 159 points out that this property had been given back 3 times already & once owner Nicholas Pappoe had died his heirs sold it 3 more times! In 1870 Mr James Jansen purchased land adjacent to his academy at 4th street/Parsippany road&3rd avenue for $10 per acre from Nicholas Pappake giving him total holdings totaling 244 acres including this current structure

Hasbrouck Heights is a borough in Bergen County, New Jersey, United States. The population was 2,971 at the 2010 census. Hasbrouck Heights was formed on March 14, 1912 from portions of Highland Park and Ridgewood. The name "Hasbrouck Heights" may be derived from Dutch word "Hasboom" meaning “honeycomb” or “spiral” and "heights", due to its shape if taken from north to south (the highest point being in the east). The first settler in what is now Hasbrouck Heights was Edwin Cramer who settled there in 1814. In 1881, John Prentice bought 640 acres of land east of present-day Hackensack Avenue and built a mill on it which he named Prentice Mill. It became known as Prentice's Mills after him. In 1912, when the Borough of Highland Park was disbanded and portions were combined with Bergen County to form Bergen County, Hasbrouck Heights joined the new county as part of its western section. At that time, it had a population of 1,200 people living mainly in Ridgewood and Scotch Plains Township but also had a few residents in Highland Park and Hackensack avenues. Over time the population grew rapidly; by 1940 it had reached 4,000 people living primarily within its own borders as well as those located in Scotch Plains Township and Ridgewood municipality outside of Hasbrouck Heights limits. A major reason for this growth was work that took place during World War II: many businesses opened up after Japan bombed Pearl Harbor on Dec 7th 1941 making war production possible without burdening local economies with excessive costs or lost jobs. Many residents also purchased homes during the war years because they could not find suitable housing elsewhere within their township or county limits however some did leave due to difficult economic times following the war while others moved into communities such as Englewood Cliffs or Paramus NJ because they found affordable housing there not available within their original home townships or counties
Hasbrouck Heights is a village in Middlesex County, New Jersey, United States. The population was 7,821 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Newark–Trenton metropolitan area. The first settlers arrived in 1796 and were led by Captain John Hasbrouck. In 1814, Major General Israel Putnam founded the town of Hasbrouck Heights on land that he had purchased from the Dutch East India Company. The town was named for Captain John Hasbrouck and his family. In 1824, Captain James Caldwell bought some additional land to form what would become Caldwell Township. In 1870, Colonel Augustus Fenton created an independent township called Union which included parts of Hasbrouck Heights and Caldwell Townships. The community was destroyed by a fire in 1938 and rebuilt with government assistance under the name of "Haspromont". The original post office reopened on July 1, 1939; it was renamed Hazlewood after Edwin Hazlewood who served as Postmaster General during World War II.
