The USS Constitution was a United States Navy ships during the American Revolution. It was commissioned on April 25, 1775 and served in the New York squadron until September 12, 1778. The ship was decommissioned on October 3, 1778 and recommissioned December 10th that year under Rear Admiral John Graves Simcoe. She served as flagship of the Commodore Edward Vernon's squadron in north Atlantic during the winter of 1779-1780. In July 1781 she took part in manoeuvres near Boston to prepare for an attack by British forces against that city. On August 14th she collided with HMS Guerriere off Martha's Vineyard; both vessels were damage but not sunk. The Constitution sailed back to New York City after her repairs were complete and at last relieved by the Monitor on November 20th of that year joining General Howe's army at Saratoga campaign. She was decommissioned again on January 5, 1814 and sold for breaking up at Norfolk, Virginia on May 11th 1814.
Hammonton is a borough in Hunterdon County, New Jersey, United States. The population was 9,865 at the 2010 census. Hammonton is located on the Delaware River and is bordered by East Brunswick to the northwest and Brick Township to the east. The first humans to live in what is now Hammonton were Native Americans who crossed over from Pennsylvania in search of new land after British colonists burned down their villages along the Susquehanna River. In 1714, William Penn granted a township to George Washington's brother-in-law John Armstrong for his services as constable of Philadelphia during the French and Indian War. Armstrong had purchased 2,000 acres (800 ha) of land on the banks of the Delaware River from a group of Lenape Indians known as "The Six Nations". In 1815, when New Jersey became an independent state, Hammonton was formed from part of East Brunswick Township. As hamlet it likely derived its name from early Dutch settlers who called it "Hammelton" because they found hams high up on a hill near where today's Main Street crossesriver. In 1837, when Hunterdon County was created out of portions of Middlesex and Mercer Counties, Hammonton belonged to that county until 1860 when it was transferred back to Monmouth County. When Interstate 95 opened up in 1990 with its current alignment through town center just south of Route 73/,Hammonton's growth began rapidly as people commuting into nearby Newark and Trenton decided they would prefer not have to drive all the way out there if they could simply take I-95 instead. The number of businesses started growing exponentially; including two large hugeshops (Guitar Center Outfitters and Best Buy), three fast food restaurants (McDonalds Drive-Thru & Burger King), four liquor stores (Pepsi Refreshments & Four Barrel Ale House), five real estate firms (Walsh Realtors & Associates Inc., Gensler Real Estate Group Inc., Kapp Real Estate Corp., Webb Bros Properties Inc.), six construction companies (Curtis Construction Company LLC, H&R Block Construction Company LLC., Pugh Builders Corporation LLC., Smith Engineering Company Inc.), seven daycare facilities (Twinbrook Daycare Centers), eight water towers (+ one new tower built since 2000) and ten schools (+ one new school built since 2000). It should be noted that while commercial development has continued unabated throughout much of recent years - with mostly office buildings sprouting up around busy intersections - residential areas have seen little or no growth despite being directly adjacent thereto due primarily to commuters using I-95 rather than walking or biking distance each way across town center which makes for easy access without having to exit onto Rte 73/. currently there are only two houses set back more than 25 feet (.9 m) from either side of I-95 - one belonging to an oil refinery official who travels frequently between states for business meetings (- he resides on Rte 73/ Exit 10A next door) while the other sits atop a small open field +/- 1 acre +/- 5 feet (.3 m) away from Interstate 95 itself (- whose owner has been vocal about wanting more privacy ever since!).
