The history of the navy in Haddonfield, New Jersey goes back to 1892. The first navy ship was built on the Long Island Sound and its keel was laid down on October 14th, 1892. The USS Constitution was launched on December 12th, 1893. She served as America’s flagship during World War I and II. The USS Constitution is still in service today and she is currently moored at the Naval Museum in Philadelphia. In 1948, the US Navy constructed the USS Pascagoula which served as a training ship for naval officers. In 1969, the US Navy decommissioned USS Pascagoula and donated her to Haddonfield Township as a municipally owned property. The USS Pascagoula now serves as a museum vessel in Haddonfield Township. The first municipal swimming pool opened in Haddonfield Township on May 2nd, 1954; it was called the “Navy Swimming Pool” after then-Governor Raymond Lautenberg’s donation of land for it. On July 1st, 1962, President John F Kennedy visited Haddonfield Township while he was campaigning for re-election and he attended a town meeting that was held at Veterans Memorial Stadium to discuss plans for improving infrastructure within township borders.On October 8th, 1971, Captain James A Coleman became Commanding Officer of HMCS Niagara when it replaced HMCS Essex (later HMCS Windsor). Thiswas one of only three occasions where an officer from Canada had commanded an American warship (the other two being Commodore David Denny commanding HMS Hood during Battle of Jutland).HMCS Windsor relieved HMCS Niagara on November 15th 1972 while they were both deployed off Lebanon to support Operation Crossfire Hurricane III which involved rocket fire against targets inside Beirut without any loss of life or damage to property ashore.*On January 16th 1974– following an invitation by Governor Edward Mance – Captain Coleman returned to command HMSC Niagara after nearly 3 years absence.*During this time Capt Coleman also served as Deputy Commander United States Naval Forces Europe*In 1982 Capt Coleman succeeded Rear Admiral Harry B Eberhart who had been promoted rear admiral and assumed command of United States Fleet Atlantic commander area including all 5Fleet Commands under Vice Admiral Charles W Byrd*The last warship ever commissioned by United States Navy--USS Enterprise (CVN 66) arrived at Groton Naval Base Connecticut from Norfolk 7/1/1985 having been rebuilt from scratch after being lost at sea 17 years earlier After almost 50 years serving with distinction in both world wars; NHPC decommissioned her final voyage 9/11/2001 USS Enterprise CVN 66 arrived at Groton Naval Base CT onboard Korean War Veterans Day Parade 11/9 2001 She will be permanently docked there until 2020

The Haddonfield Naval Militia was a naval militia unit in the town of Haddonfield, New Jersey. It was created in 1807 as part of the original U.S. Navy and it is still in existence today. The unit trace its origins to 1798 when a small group of sailors from HMS Constitution sailed into town to help with local militia duties during the French and Indian War.

The first settlers in Haddonfield were Dutch and English refugees who fled to America during the American Revolution. Afterward, many Germans also came to America and founded towns such as Allentown, Bethlehem, Easton and West Chester. In 1784, Haddonfield was incorporated as a borough by order of Governor Thomas Mifflin. In 1834 it became a township with the same boundaries as Union County. In 1849, construction began on what would become known as "the Giant" Bridge over the Raritan River; this bridge served as an important transportation artery between New York City and Atlantic City for many years until it was replaced by the current span in 1928. During World War II, Haddonfield played host to air-raids against Nazi Germany from 1943 until 1945. Part of the munitions plant located near Clearview Mall made use of local residential neighborhoods for bombing raids; these raids caused serious damage to properties throughout Haddonfield but did not kill any people. In 1951, Haddonfield Municipality merged with nearby Clinton Township to form Union Township which still exists today as one of Pennsylvania's five municipal districts

The Town of Haddonfield was organized on March 14, 1798 and became an official municipality on November 3, 1802. On February 26, 1814, the towns of North Brunswick and South Brunswick merged to form Haddonfield Township in order to avoid duplication of services with those two municipalities. On October 1, 1851, all of Middlesex County except for portions of Camden and Bloomfield Township were divided into five new counties - Hunterdon (including Haddonfield), Morris (including Woodlynne), Essex (including Sayreville and East Orange), Union (including Westwood) - within which Haddonfield Township would continue to be located. With that change in county authorities came increased responsibilities for the township including becoming responsible for all public schools as well as providing police and fire protection for the annexed villages within its borders. The decline in manufacturing fortunes throughout much of the early 21st century led to a sharp increase in housing prices in nearby Camden which caused many residents to move out of Haddonfield into Camden's more affordable neighborhoods around Norristown or Vineland. However some people have still chosen to live in Haddonfield due to its historical significance as one of America's first planned communities and its ability to offer a diverse range of community amenities such as a library system with more than 2 million books combined circulating through it; excellent shopping opportunities at major malls including Ruelle's Department Store; large number of homes available for purchase or rent; easy access by bus or train from most parts of Philadelphia; and strong sense among many residents that their town remains an important part of their local culture despite recent challenges posed by rising home values and other factors outside their control
