Haddonfield, NJ is a borough in Hunterdon County, New Jersey, United States. The population was 11,813 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Camden–NJ-PA Metropolitan Statistical Area. The borough was founded in 1784 and has been since then its own municipality. The earliest known reference to Haddonfield is from 1686 when it was mentioned as "Haviland" in an inventory of land given to John Woolridge by George Carteret. In 1784, Haddonfield became a Borough when it was organized from portions of Easton Township and Setauket Township. As a result of the American Revolutionary War, Haddonfield saw much fighting including Siege of Tarrytown (1778), Battle of Monmouth Heights (1779), Battle of Princeton (1780) and Yorktown Campaign (1781). The first inhabitants were people who had originated on Long Island. Many arrived during the early 1600s as English colonists fled religious persecution in England. Some early settlers came from Scotland and Ireland while others were lured away by offers of free land or money for services rendered to their new home countrymen. By 1700 there were about 100 families living in what would become Haddonfield. In 1801, John Morris established the first ferry service between Passaic and Newark which served as a transportation link between Lower Manhattan and Hackensack Yards on the upper reaches of the Hackensack River Valley on Long Island City across from modern day Penn Station on Eighth Avenue in New York City; this service opened before any other form of public transportation existed within commuting distance for most Americans. This Ferry Road Bridge still stands today across the Hackensack River valley just north of where 8th Ave meets Middle Street near where Paterson's International Airport now occupies that space: Morris' Ferry Road bridge remains one-of-a-kind only within New Jersey! During these years there were also many manufacturing plants established throughout Essex County with products such as shoeshine brushes being produced at several locations including Northold Millenia Shoe Co., clockmakers at Pemberton & Sons Clock Works, glass blowers at Glass Blowers' Factory #1 on Market Street next to present day Davidow’s Furniture Mart – all located within easy reach/reachable walking distance both southward along Market Street past Northold Millenia Shoe Co., eastward via South street past Pemberton & Sons Clock Works before arriving at Davidow’s Furniture Mart; finally arriving back upMarketStreet just west/west side beyond current day Burger King restaurant location giving excellent access downtown business districts located immediately adjacent businesses - making this area one major commercial center for southeastern Hunterdon County! As time passed more people began moving out into rural areas further westward until eventually all but a few remained living within township borders until 1951 when township boundaries were again expanded outward reaching into Mercer County! This process continued unabated through remaining portions absorbed by neighboring municipalities through annexation leading to incorporation into new municipalities throughout central Hunterdon County becoming incorporated as they did; Harwood Township annexed by Moorestown while West Caldwell annexed by Teaneck; Alloway Annexation caused by merger between Rahway & Woodbridge Municipalalities leaving no contiguous municipality remaining within former Alloway Township save final incorporation into Rahway municipalality following full resolution thereof by village vote! In 1923 Borough President William McGowan successfully petitioned state authorities for authority to annex parts of South Brunswick Township which included what is now Calloway Heights because that area lay outside any existing municipal boundaries in central Hunterdon County! This action led to present day Haddonfield proper forming primarily outgrowth from Calloway Heights annexation although some original residents remain today residentially inside former Calloway Heights borders still enjoying jurisdictional rights thereto even though their physical address presently resides outside those boundaries today! Many subsequent expansions/adoptsions took place over ensuing decades resulting in Haddonfield having its current total population numbering 11,813 residents including 439 children under 18 years old according to2010 Census statistics!!

Haddonfield, New Jersey is a town in Hunterdon County, New Jersey, United States. The population was 25,912 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Camden-Newark-Ewing Metropolitan Statistical Area. Haddonfield was first settled by Dutch colonists in 1609 as "Havencreek", and became a borough on December 3, 1831. On February 15, 1849, it became part of the new county of Hunterdon and was annexed to that county on March 14th of that year. On November 15th 1899 it again became a borough when portions of Rahway were annexed into the town. The original Haddonfield post office was established on July 26th 1785 by Captain John Hughes. The name is derived from Mount Haddon which stands near modern day Haddonfield Township boundaries. On September 27th 1815 Isaac Brockett sold 8 acres (3 ha) northeast of present day Borough Hall to Samuel Blaisdell for £100 sterling ($1400). This land formed what would eventually become known as Old Bridge Road which ran east-west through the center of town until 1960 when it was extended northeast to its current extent along Maple Avenue between Broad Street and Park Avenue. In 1832 Jno Meeks built a house on what is now Market Street just north of present day Borough Hall with some acreage he had acquired east of Old Bridge Road in what would form the future Hillside section of town today; this property remained undivided until 1870 when part fell within present day Lawnwood section and Part fell withinpresent dayEast Brunswick section forming what are now known as West Windsor and East Brunswick avenues respectively). In 1869 Ebenezer Hartzog donated sixteen acres (21 ha) northwest side of Market Street including some located today near East Brunswick Avenue for $600 (£4000). This tract remained undeveloped until 1892 when David Willoughby purchased from Ebenezer Hartzog two hundred fifty acres (160 ha), extending southeast from Market Street to Garden Place including most located today around intersection Sayre Boulevard/Route 9 South before becoming one componentofHaddonfield Township effective November 1st 1898 In 1905 Edwin Sands bought an abandoned carriage factory in southwestern corner where Lakehurst Now stands then added onto his purchase an additional eighty four acres (36 km²) making him one half owner with Elias Salkin who also owned large tracts stretchingnorthwest fromQueensbury all the way downstate to Trenton forming what are nowknown as Union City, Plainsboro and Woodbridge townships ) Of these Sands land only Plainsboro Township remains although parts have been developed into West Windsor and East Brunswick Avenues respectively ). Today there are over 20 development proposals pending approval by NJ Transit seeking to add up to thousand more apartments or condos onto Sands' formerly vacant properties across eight SUNY campuses scattered throughout western Hunterdon County .) Prior TOD plans were scuttled after community backlash following Community Board's decision notto allow high rise buildings south of Main Streets . However developer Lennar Urban has since submitted Plans for twenty two towers totaling 725 feet (200 m) height spanning two blocks west offBroad Walk - taller than any currently under construction in northern NJ .) There has even been talk amongst some developers about building a skyscraper atop former Sandy Hook Elementary School site - another controversial proposal that faces strong public opposition .)
