The United States Air Force has been deploying gifts to individuals and organizations around the world since 1947. The service's mission is to promote freedom, democracy, and peace through airpower. One of the most famous gift deployments in Air Force history is the Haddonfield Christmas parade which began on December 6th, 1947 and ends at State College Cemetery. On that day, a squadron of Lockheed P-38 Lightning fighter planes escorted by Boeing B-29 bombers flew from RAF Wyton in England to land at Haddonfield Municipal Airport. Upon arrival, the pilots donated their time and equipment for local festivities including aChristmas parade led by Captain John Sisko with members of the New York National Guard band playing music throughout. Today, the USAF's gift history continues with its deployment of Operation Santa Claus which begins on December 17th and lasts through January 3rd. This year's event will include more than 1,500 personnel from various branches of the military as well as civilians from across New Jersey who will participate in activities such as caroling, Silent Night mass, candy Canes (for children), eggnog drinks and more!

This tradition began in World War II when theAAF gifted planes, weapons, and equipment to allies such as the United Kingdom and France. The USAF also donated funds and supplies to support allied military efforts during the Korean War. Since the Iraq War began in 2003, the USAF has sent a total of 509 gifts across five continents. These items include aircraft parts, ammunition, vehicles, food, water filters, and other supplies. In addition to providing support for coalition forces on-the-ground, the USAF has also flown cargo airlift missions into Iraq and Afghanistan to distribute humanitarian goods and medical assistance. The USAF's deployment gift program is one of several ways that the military provides support to foreign partners. Other examples include contributions of troops or materiel through Operation Noble Eagle (Operation Iraqi Freedom), Operation Neptune Spear (Afghanistan), Enduring Freedom (Iraq), Joint Task Force Northwest (Syria), Multi-National Security Transition Command - Europe (NATO Supreme Headquarters Allied Expeditionary) - Eastern Partnership (Ukraine/Russia), Joint Multi-Service Intelligence Center - Afghanistan/Pakistan/India Prime Minister's Package III/IV
On Dec. 15, 1941, the United States Air Force was activated with the creation of theAAF. On that day, General Dwight D. Eisenhower was named Commander in Chief of theAAF and ordered to immediately deploy bombers and fighters throughout Europe in support of European operations against Nazi Germany. The first operational deployment of American forces occurred on December 18th when Lt. Colonel James Hutton's P-47 Thunderbolt squadron attacked a German airfield near Frankfurt am Main, Germany as part of Operation Choke Point. Through the years various gift history events have been held at the Haddonfield Air Force Base in memory of those who have served or were associated with the USAF. These events typically include a flyover by an American fighter aircraft or a ceremonial presentation of medals to members of Congress or other dignitaries who visit AFB during their annual tour.
Haddonfield, NJ is a town in Morris County, New Jersey, United States with a population of 61,903 as of the 2010 census. The name "Haddonfield" comes from the place where John Haddon settled in 1718. Haddonfield was originally part of Middlesex County but was annexed by Morris County in 1834. The town has been rebuilt at least 6 times and its current form dates back to 1848 when it was created from parts of West Milford and Easton Township. The first settler in what is now Haddonfield was John Haddon who arrived in 1718. He built a cabin on the east side of present-day Route 202 near present-day Uniondale. In 1824, he and his wife established a small farm called "Milton" along what is now Route 202. In 1830, they purchased 33 acres (13 hectares) of land northwest ofpresent-day Haddonfield from Jacob Kappenberger for $100 cash and moved their home there that year. In 1835, they sold their holdings to Isaac Greenough for $475 cash and began to build what would become their original home – the “Greenough House” – which still stands today on North Main Street just south of High School Square. In 1840, Abram Davenport bought property within the limits of present-day Haddonfield from Isaac Greenough for $825 cash and began construction on what would become known as “Davenport’s Mill” which still stands today acrossfrom Present-Day High School Square
The United States Air Force has been deploying gift history for many years now. The USAF's History and Heritage Command (HHC) oversees the storage, transportation, and presentation of USAF gifts to other users. Gifts present in any form or shape are accepted by the USAF as long as they conform to its Guidelines for Gift Management. Since its establishment in 1947, the USAF HHC has made donations of art, Memorabilia, equipment and more to various organizations across the country. Some examples of what have been given include: The Smithsonian National Museum of American Art; Ford Motor Company Missile Museum; The Children’s Hospital at Georgetown University; Stroudsburg State University; Wright-Patterson AFB - Dayton, Ohio; and numerous others. The purpose of this paper is not to discuss every donation made by the USAF HHC but rather focus on a few select examples that will provide insight into why these types of gifts are so important to our military and society at large. Air Force gifts have always had a special meaning within our military culture. They represent a unique alliance between two cultures which helps officials work together efficiently while also providing quality items for their troops and civilians alike.
