Glen Rock is a borough in Bergen County, New Jersey, United States. As of the 2010 census, the borough had a population of 24,878. The name "Glen Rock" is derived from an early settler named Donald Glen and his family's farm on what is now Glenn Road. The first Europeans to arrive in what is now Glen Rock were Frenchmen who called it la Roche-sur- mer (the rock). In 1764, Englishman John Livingston came to America and landed at Cherry Hill and acquired land that would later become Glen Rock. On October 16, 1764, Livingston married Anne Murray and founded the town of Dumont (now part of Hackensack), but they soon decided to move their family back to where they lived before coming to America. The original home of the Livingstones still stands today on Elk Street off Park Avenue in downtown GlenRock. By 1800, a community had formed around what became known as the Old Fort/Fort George area near present day High Bridge Road/High Street in what is now Northglenn Township. This fort was built by British forces during the Revolutionary War as part of efforts to protect against American attacks from within New Jersey. The fort was abandoned after the war and no vestige remains today except for some stones removed by developers during development activities in recent years. In 1814, Jameson Allan purchased 1/4 acre (0.20 km2) lot on which he erected a frame houseknown as Allan's Cabin which served as both his residence and office until 1824 when he moved into nearby Nutley Hall which remain standing today as one of only two surviving buildings from this period in history located within GlenRock Borough limits

Glen Rock is a small town in Morris County, New Jersey, United States. The population was 2,552 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Camden-Wilmington Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first European to visit the area was Giovanni da Verrazzano in 1508. In 1699, French colonists named it "New Rochelle." In 1764, Samuel Nicholas founded Glen Rock Academy and School for Boys in what is now downtown Glen Rock. In 1837, Pennsylvania Railroad locomotive #14 (later renumbered #9) derailed on a curve near downtown Glen Rock while en route from Philadelphia to Trenton. The derailment caused extensive damage to both tracks and homesnearby. The town's name came about when developer John Pemberton renamed the railroad company's line from "the Delaware and Hudson" to "the Pennsylvania Railroad". In 1907, local physician and real estate mogul James Fenton purchased some land near downtown that became known as Fenton Park after him. He developed it into one of the most prestigious areas in town with mansions dating back to the 1800s including two that are still standing - One at 8th Street and One at 9th Street which are now used as office buildings by Pfizer Incorporated. Fenton also constructed a large dam on Lake Rahway which created a reservoir that still provides water for many activities within town limits today such as swimming and fishing although much has been lost due to development over time; for example, much of the original Broadway Bridge across Rahway was replaced with an Interstate 95 bridge in 1998 following concerns over how well its condition would hold up under repeated use during seasonal floods events like those seen annually around this time of year along I-95).
